Ayreon The day the world breaks down REACTION by Songs and Thongs 

I was there (Saturday & Sunday evening). This was the last song of the show. You could hear some jaws hitting the floor when the song started as nobody was expecting this one being played. And considering the fact that only 3 of the original singers were present they all did a great job. I had a fantastic time and enjoyed myself immensely. I dare say you missed out, not only on the concert itself but also on the whole atmosphere. Tilburg transformed into Ayreon city, welcoming fans from 60 different countries. As litterally everybody speaks English there where zero communication problems. The Dutch fans were extremely helpful, especially for the people coming from overseas. I made a bunch of new friends and am already saving up to meet them again for Ayreon 2025.

I was lucky enough to be there. Fabtastic to see Irene Jansen sing the closing part instead of her sister Floor.

That venue only holds about 4000 people and they ended up doing matinee shows on all three dates but they still didn't supply demand. The vibe created in the small town of Tilburg for the shows is what keeps Ayreon returning there rather than to an arena size venue elsewhere. I endorse the suggestion to check out Brittney Slayes stealing the show with Fate of Man.

That was awesome seeing Irene Jansen singing her sister Floors part.

The thing that I love more than anything else about these performances, is that every performer is having the time of their life.

Flute, cello... Guitars... Mike Mills live! Binary code. Anneke! What a fabulous voice. Marcella Bovio? Irene! Together, wow! They all look like they are loving it.

I am going to make it even more difficult for you: I divide my life in years before Ayreon beneath the waves and the years after that. It was that epic. They still try to remove my goosebumps. You were right. They deal in excellence. And their goal is to put a smile on everyone's face. And they succeed. How? Easy. By pure professionalism and the most important factor: They are having a blast themselves. It radiates from the podium! This is their mutual trip of a lifetime. And that is contagious. Arjen Lucassen is on a lonely epic level. But he is certainly not lonely. The talent that wants to cooperate with him and each other......mindboggling

Aww, It's a shame you weren't able to make it to Tilburg. Maybe next year? Your conclusion at the end is pretty much spot on, if you listen to Arjen and Joost talk about the shows. They want to make sure everyone is having a great experience while in Tilburg for a few days. And the whole thing felt like a huge family meeting. I made a lot of new frieds from all over the world there and we all hope to meet again next year. If you want to see the guitarsists have way too much fun, react to "Ride the Comet" from the same show. Or, since Arjen is releasing the whole thing on his channel anyway, go through the whole thing. And then join us in Tilburg next year. I'll buy you two a drink, if I should run into you.. 😎

Hey guys...great reaction. I had a similar thing happen to me (missing a show) with Nightwish. I'd never rally heard them and purchased tickets a year in advance for my daughter and I to go in 2018 or so. I didn't listen to them for the entire year as I wanted it to be fresh and live. My daughter's buddy got her a ticket to Avenged seven-fold so as a payback, I responded by giving her my ticket to Nightwish. I'm glad I did that, but also disappointed that I'd missed out on the show. Ayreon is on my bucket list but I do not expect them to play where I'm from unfortunate;y. Hopefully you two get a chance to reup and see them!

Dutch masterpiece! I've seen Arjan Lucassen life about 30 years ago in the heavy metalband Vengeance. Soo talented guy! And Vengeance performs life again!

Its defeintly more about making a exelent exprience, then making a profit of these shows, and i also heard Arjen himself say, these artist dont do it for free, im sure they dont go greedy eiter, but they do get paid..

you missed nothing lol. Actually the whole concert was amazing and you could do worse than to acquire a copy of it and armed with drinks of choice just completely chill out for an hour or two listening to it. I was at the performance immediately before this one and well I was buzzing for several hours.

Is Arjen not on stage himself? Difficult to spot him......
