I love how Arjen chooses musicians so specifically to the particular sound/atmosphere he's looking to achieve! Sure, we LOVE Ed, but I have a feeling Juan will be a very welcome addition to the Ayreon Universe! And his drums go up to 11 ;)
Almost every interview that I've watched the person says that is very easy to work with Arjen because he knows exactly what he wants but accepts suggestions and is down to totally change something if the performer does not feel it
Thats a super cool story, i can only speak for myself but i think pretty much every other drummer would agree: Arjen is such an amazing musician and such a loveable personality, it could only be super enjoyable and a big honor to work with someone like him as a drummer.
I feel so good when I see Juans from countries where that name isn't common. I feel validated. And his groove is incredible. I'll miss Ed Warby, of course, but Juan sounds amazing. I'm excited to listen to this album!
Great drummer! His style fits perfectly to the style of Transitus! Can't wait the release. And I want to hear Juan's other records! About "no-Ed" talks. Yes - I like Ed's drumming since he played in Gorefest but want to mention that he was not the only Ayreon drummer until now... There was Ernst van Ee on The Final Experiment (also great) and great Rob Snijders on The Universal Migrator Part 1. So for me nothing wrong with working with a new drummer.
Mr. Arjen, you could choose a snail to play the drumns and i'll still be sure that the album is a master piece. Every artist you choose is so amazing, and for me there is no doubt that this change is a good decision. The album is looking amazing and i couldn't be more excited for it!
Literally, had chills a few times. I loved it, I'm looking forward to have it in my hands! He totally accomplished a full album in two days! Awesome, Juanito!

I think Arjen failed with this one. He said, he wanted to make something different. But everything I've heard so far, does sound like Ayreon. Haha, I just can't wait for the record! :-D
I'm not Arjen, but he mentioned before (on Theory of Everything, I believe) that he never knows what kind of album it will be when he starts composing. If he comes up with "versatile" songs (including folk and other elements, e.g), it becomes an Ayreon album. If they are more on the heavy side, could be a Star One and etc...
@@paulobvega This is true; however, I think at this point he realizes that the "Ayreon" name sells better. I am in no way blaming him, I totally understand. The name is now a profitable brand at this point, and there is no reason now for him to release anything without the "Ayreon" name.
@@skeletankmcgraw7343 I wouldn't care for the name. I understand sometimes he's more into other projects. Like I could take another Gentle Storm album, another star one, because I liked 'em. Another one with a brand new name depending on what he's into it. I like his work, composition, the way he managed them. I love this is Ayreon's because I like this project and for what I already listen I want it
Arjen, I cannot wait for this release! I love everything you do! I actually met you in Los Angeles at a Century Media party when you played the Troubador with Lana Lane back in 2002 (Star One was just about to release). Keep up the fantastic work!

Spinal Tap FTW! :-) All right, based on the snippets of Juan's drumming in this video - what is the release date of Transitus? :-D I can't help myself, but he reminds me of Mike Mangini, the way he moves behind the kit.
