I learned so many new words and sentences while watching the Magnificent Century! The best historical show ever with the greatest soundtrack. Seriously, I’ve never heard such an exquisite and original soundtrack in a show. I also learned a lot about the Ottomans, who won my country back in the 15th century. They are the reason I’m Muslim today, since most people in my country converted to Islam. They wore the most beautiful clothing and hat the prettiest jewelry (especially rings). Every sultan that ever ruled was incredibly educated and knew how to play AT LEAST one instrument. After the show I did some research which is why I know much more about them now.
Technically speaking, they just copy from the Byzantines and Persian. Its not an insult as they were originally nomadic people, so they need to adapt and adopt a lot if they want to retain control of their new lands as a settled civilization. That said, most of the thing we see as Ottoman Turk, mostly can be traced back to the Byzantines and Greeks, from their clothes, music, architecture and even government structure.
@@13gan Are you confusing Turks with Mongols? The medieval Turks in Central Asia were semi-nomadic and engaged in agriculture too as evidenced by Old Turkic vocabulary. They had a writing system (Turkic runiform script), states, cities with buildings (such as Qaraqorum, Qarabalgasun, Kashgar, Turpan, Barsgan, Yesi, Syganak, Yängikent [now Jankent archealogical site] and Ürgench) in Central Asia. The historical Ottoman clothing was very different from the Byzantine clothing and similar to Seljuk clothing. Google the Seljuk miniatures on Iranian bowls and plates. The costumes in Muhteşem Yüzyıl are inaccurate and European-esque, especially the ones worn by the actresses. The real Ottoman clothing for men and women can be seen in the Ottoman miniatures. As for architecture, the early Ottoman era mosques and other buildings look very similar to the Seljuk ones. The Ottomans started copying the Byzantine architecture (especially Hagia Sophia) after they conquered Constantinople. As for music, the Ottoman court music a.k.a Turkish classical music is an amalgamation of Byzantine court music, Arab music, Persian music and Central Asian Turkic music. Turkish folk/rural music, however, is quite similar to Turkmenistani folk music. You can't claim that the entire Ottoman culture was copied from the Byzantines.
@@13gan technically speaking, it was the Etruscans who founded Rome and built the civilization in Europe. The Etruscans came to Europe from Anatolia. So those who built the civilization you are proud of were people from other tribes. First, research and learn who they are.
As soon as I saw “Talismanic Shirt” I knew this is the music they play for Iskender scenes. His story had so much potential, I loved his character the most after Sultan Ahmed.
The complete list of soundtracks in Kosem is just Magnificent 😍 recently was writing an article about Turkey, I had these soundtracks in the background. Gave me the real feels
