Aytré est une commune du Sud-Ouest de la France située dans le département de la Charente-Maritime (région Nouvelle-Aquitaine). Ses habitants sont appelés les Aytrésiens.
Aytré est bordée par l'océan Atlantique avec sa large baie et sa plage de plus de 2 km. Elle est d'abord et avant tout une cité industrielle avec sa grosse usine de fabrication de matériel ferroviaire (Alstom) et ses deux zones industrielles, c'est une commune résidentielle de la banlieue sud de La Rochelle. Grâce à sa situation de passage obligée et étant bien desservie par des voies de communication modernes, Aytré s'est beaucoup développée devenant de fait la deuxième ville de l'agglomération urbaine de La Rochelle et aussi la cinquième de Charente-Maritime.

Aytré is a municipality in the south-west of France located in the department of Charente-Maritime (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region). Its inhabitants are called the Aytresians.
Aytré is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean with its wide bay and its beach of more than 2 km. It is first and foremost an industrial city with its large railway manufacturing plant (Alstom) and its two industrial zones, it is a residential ''commune'' in the southern suburb of La Rochelle City. Due to the fact that Aytré is a must-see location and is well served by modern means of communication, it has greatly developed into the second largest city in the urban agglomeration of La Rochelle City and the fifth largest in Charente-Maritime.
