18th June 2013 Feeding 'Ayu' the Binturong ( Bearcat ) at Port Lympne in Kent. The largest member of the Civet family, only rivaled in size by the African Civet. Music ' Canvas9 ' by Dan-O at DanoSongs.com .
This video easily deserves millions of views... the bearcat is an amazing, intelligent mammal, sadly unknown to the world outside Asia. Thanks for providing such an intimate and caring portrait of this animal.
I'm glad most people prefer to use the Malaysian-origin name of the species "binturong" rather than the misleading "bearcat". Ayu is also a Malaysian word which means fair/pretty. She is indeed beautiful :)
+Roosseno Alfathan lol... it as just what he says... ayu means fair/pretty in malaysia... it is also a common name for girls in not just malaysia but singapore and brunei as well...
I feel sad though even after watching such a beautiful video that they are killed for their parts. Esp as she is so gentle with people. Such a beautiful animal. So elegant. Deserves protection from mankind not slaughter!
Red Panda Vision - I came across your video and really enjoyed it, I wanted to share the video I did on the Binturong in cooperation with the Brookfield Zoo
To me sort of looks like a cross between a raccoon and a wolverine, but with hind feet like a squirrel so can walk down a tree headfirst. Bear? Not much. KInd of like a big fisher (north america). A smorgasbord of animals!
They do look a bit like a cat and a bear but are not really related to those animals. They are more closely related to weasels, fosses and mongooses. I also think they look a fair bit like a wolverine but are not related to them either.
Such an awsum animal, way cooler than a lot of other animals. I dont get why there is so few vidoes about them. And why the few videos out there have so few views.
My thanks to RedPandaVision for pointing out an error on my blog page. I have made the correction, and have given Ayu her due! :-) I also thank you for stopping by to check out my page, which is dedicated to teaching children about endangered animals. warriorechidna.blogspot.com - Sincerely! Jeanne
