Crazy. I didn't realize how dramatically fast it became dark in some parts of the Valley. I was at Dobson & 8th St. in NW Mesa when this happened and the fade to night seemed more gradual. There was still tons of crazy wind and dust though.
Im in Phoenix and we get dust storms every summer but this is the largest Ive seen. We saw it coming and it looked like trouble. Crazy how the dust got into everything...sealed homes, the car, my bedding even was full of sand. Dust here contains a spore that causes valley fever too.
I can say this video is 100 % iam livin in.arizona since 1992 and since than never see this size of the dust storm the darkness is real it turn day into night
@FunnyBoy0098 30-40 min. I drove 1/2 mile in and turned around hoping to get a shot driving out of the storm and back into daylight. It was moving too fast, and I never got out!
There is dust IN my house even though all my windows and doors are closed. All of a sudden as I type on my laptop, I noticed the keys felt extremely dusty. Be careful and cover you mouth and nose, even when you are inside.
i live in arizona and i was running out side with my dog when my dog whimpered so i look up and boom bunch of dust and the wind knocked me down and now my leg is broken
what i did with a still camera and 2 vehicles was flim one going in, and one coming out. this was in 2001-2002 when i lived there. theese damned thigns are fun lol. unless you love clean cars
@maholler2010 That answered my question. Since now you know you can NOT get that shot "back out of it" I wonder how long it would take you to get through the other side...just be very careful (you obviously know that) if you go for it. Another interesting tidbit...has anyone in your area attempted to document where these things started? How far away from the city? What does that area look like? I wonder if you could film one starting? I know probably crazy...thanks for posting, very cool!
You know its common in middle east. Its bad ass, people get sick and get asthma Its rare to breath a fresh air there. When I came to US I felt like my lung was like shit. So you try it and feel the moment with us :P
@dbmjr1 i never had an issue. been through maybe a dozen of these. driven thru maybe 5. yeah had to clean out the intake. but other than that. 200k miles later. no problems. but hell maybe i got lucky Eh?
@brainznbeauty Nothing can stop a Traine(: I've always loved my air conditioning system, but it didn't work as well as I thought it should. Strange though, same thing happened to me...
@legoskater84 ROFL you reminded me of this (watch?v=l7qKD-Ph7ds), a 300 parody with a bunch of Mexicans charging in at once (could have easily made that cloud XD). Though at first glance that cloud reminded me of the fog in The Fog... I'd have been freaking just a bit...
@maholler2010 lived thru many a haboob in phoenix. owned a black truck. these damn things is why i all but quit washing hte damned thing. would clear the sand out of my intake and go on. would wash truck when she turned brown but that was it lol
