While using this for approx 1 month now, I noticed that my files in loop video recording is short even if it is set in 5min duration. When I review each file, it is only about 1-2mins long. And what is the meaning the two folder in the sd card. The EMR folder and Movie Folder?
Hey there, according to the AZDome site, it says "Now while this time-lapse is being recorded, If someone hits your car and if the impact reaches the set G-Sensor level, then the camera will stop the time-lapse video > then it will start to record 1-min continuous video, save & lock that video in EMR folder > then return to recording the time-lapse 1fps." Regarding the video recording length, maybe a reset of the unit can help.
thanks after reading this, one of my action was to disable the g sensor (initially at high), after that, there's no EMR folder on my sdcard, only MOVIE folder. I realized that when I set the g sensor on high, it will record and emergency recording even if I am actually driving - this file is being put on EMR folder. I'll try using the reset button under the cam, and let's see.@@DemCrumblies

Just to update, after several isolations of the problem (resetting, restore to default, change cable, change power adapter, different setting combinations), at last I found the root cause which is the sd card that was provided. I changed the sd card into class 10 64GB sd card, and it worked normally! No short videos anymore even if it was set it 5min loop. Lessons learned, this dashcam needs a good working sd card. (the OEM sd card is faulty thus it has a problem in recording)
I don't remember seeing a setting in the menu to disable the blinking lights. If it really annoys you, the next best thing might be to cut thin pieces of black electrical tape and paste them over the lights.
While I haven't used the feature, the manual shows that when you're in the video playback menu, you can manually lock files to protect them. Another option would be to connect your phone to the dashcam and download the clip to your phone when you can stop the car and do so safely.
@@jamescollins8397 From the manual, it seems like you'd have to stop the recording, go into video playback mode and manually lock the file there, so you can definitely do it without connecting your phone, but there doesn't seem to be any type of quick button access to do it while driving or to issue a voice command to lock the file. I'm usually pretty quick at stopping recordings when I'm stopped at a red light to modify settings on most dashcams, but if you just saw something worthy of saving while driving, doesn't seem to be an easy way to do it quickly on the fly.

Hello. The AZDOME M550 dashcam is terrible for parking mode, the wire kit is installed in the fuse box and the motion recording option works, but I did several tests on the G sensor (for accidents) and the dashcam has some serious flaws. It doesn't change or save the crash and there is no warning letting us know that there is an incident when you return to the car and start it! If the vehicle owner is not attentive, the accident will go unnoticed. You will have to watch all the movement recordings for days in a row to try to find out if the AZDOME M550 recorded anything! When the car is moving, the recording works, the dashcam has a serious failure to record/change, as indicated in the manual, the recordings are due to knocks if the car is parked. 😮😮
I never tried it with the wiring kit, but yea I know other dashcam models have the same issue with the G Sensor where even a bump in the road would result in lots of locked recordings, so I just always end up turning that feature off since it eats up storage space. I hope later these dashcams will have some kind of AI ability to know when a bump or hit is legitimate.
Yes, the hard wire kit is of typical China engineering quality, which doesn't work to it's said specifications. It seems to only activate on 11.8v setting. Yes the G-sensor is also dulled due to its mounting sticker to the windscreen. Common floor in design. A seperate G-sensor for park mode would likely work better. The Park Mode Collision setting also actually takes nearly 10 seconds to start recording after triggered. Missing the collision any way, contrary to what it says with recording 5 sec before any collision incident. As usual, with the majority of China engineering, it rarely meets its stated specs. The option selection of warning to format SD card at any interval also failed to lock in. There are some major failings in this device. Also note, the firmware is obviously different today compared to your demo unit. Even the in picture screens are on a different side of the screen. The time zoning fails to keep correct time due to it being limited to only 1 hour intervals. The time also self adjusts to a phone when connected via wifi. Which then adjusts back to incorrect time when powered off and on again. It could be a relatively good product if able to resolve the glitches. As it's a unbranded equivalent to Uniden I expect that Uniden has got china engineering to iron out the kinks in the product.
