The Aztec had found their island paradise, they built a temple their god Huitzilopochtli, and then they celebrated! But the good times would not last long.The Aztec had bigger issues to contend with: Their capital of Tenochtitlan was located between three large kingdoms.

In my last State Of The Channel Address I talked about wanting to go from making a video every month to making one every two weeks. Here is the progress on that for this video: This video took 27 days to create instead of 30/31. That's an increase of only 10%, however, this video let me make a work schedule for future videos based on how much time everything takes and how I can create videos more efficiently. This should mean that the next video should only be 3 weeks off... And I hope I can manage such a timeframe.

Another great video. You really delve into the politics of Lake Texcoco, something not many do when talk about the aztecs. But you mess up a little about Azcapotzalco. It seems it's only one king but there were three kings in the period you cover. The first one was Tezozomoc, grandfather of Chimalpopoca. When he died he was succeeded by his son Tayatzin. He kept good relations with the aztecs. But his brother Maxtla murdered him and after he took the throne he killed Chimalpopoca. Also the Triple Alliance received help from the highlanders who live in the East (Tlaxcalla Confederation and Huejotzingo) to overthrown Azcapotzalco.

Such a shame that the Spanish burnt all the Aztec stories and histories!

I think it’s worth it to take more time as long as you can keep the quality as high as you did in this video. It was a great topic choice
@HistoryScope
@HistoryScope 5 лет назад
It's not so much 'taking more time' as it is me being inefficient. I know I can do the same quality but at a faster rate. for example, a common thing in my videos is to have 3 blocks appear on the screen one-by-one (example at 0:01). these are rather easy to make as I only need to make a single drawing and choose which colours these blocks should have. I can also use the same assets in different videos (e.g. I made an Aztec house in the first video and I can reuse that in all Aztec videos) or reuse the same asset in the same video several times but make that one asset higher quality (the background at 1:28 is such an asset). Being more efficient with how I animate and allocate my time will allow me to create these videos faster :)

What's with the resolution in this video?
@HistoryScope
@HistoryScope 5 лет назад
Is it much worse than the others? I've gotten a new computer and had some issues with it as well... I recorded it in 1080p
@Asdayasman
@Asdayasman 5 лет назад
@@HistoryScope I don't remember the others being like this, (and I'm autistic af so I imagine I'd notice). Take a look at 3:31. The circles on the right are fuzzy around the edges, and the diagonal edges on the left have "jaggies". It's like a low resolution image was upscaled.
@HistoryScope
@HistoryScope 5 лет назад
@@Asdayasman I am now looking at it in more detail and yes, this is quite atrocious. This should be in 1080p but it oesn't even look half as good as that. I will try to get a better quality video for the next one and figure out what's wrong with Adobe Premiere on my new computer... I'm not doing anything differently. The files before Adobe Premiere look really good, unlike this video. When this series is finished, I will combine all the episodes into one single video and completely redo the rendering for this video... and maybe switch to a program that doesn't mess up the quality this much. It's moments like these that make me afraid of any and all software updates. Thank you for telling me.

@@Asdayasman I am working on putting all the 6 videos together. Again: thank you for pointing this out. I am going to redo the conversion so it will be in higher quality. That video should be out within 2 weeks.

Could you do a video on the immigrant crisis in the EU?
@HistoryScope
@HistoryScope 5 лет назад
I have already covered that in my EU video covering the failures of the EU. While migration crises in general would be a very interesting topics, a particular one in recent history has already been covered enough by other sources. But comparing the Jewish migration from Germany in the 1930s (and others throughout history) with the modern day one would be rather interesting, for example.

Recently there was a huge controversy in Mexico and Spain after Mexican President made a suggestion to the Spanish crown to apologize for the abuse to the natives in the conquest, all because of the soon to conmemorate 500th anniversary of the fall of Tenochtitlan, in August 2021. The reaction of the Spanish government and a huge part of the Spanish population was of mockery and contempt, terrible, there was a tweet of a Spanish politician saying "We went not to conquest, we went to make Spain greater", another said "Mexico should be thanking us, they were just a bunch of tribes who ate each other, we gave them civilization, the Spanish language, Christianity, we were good to them", so, I wonder, what are your toughts about the real intentions of the Spanish conquistadors to cross the Atlantic?, was it because they wanted to be "good" to the natives and "bring" the European civilization, or was based mostly out of greed, because they just wanted to take all the riches from the natives?
@Crick1952
@Crick1952 5 лет назад
They wanted our gold, plain and simple. Many priests and certain individuals may have wanted to bring the Christianity and improve conditions, but the crown and the nobles who established the haciendas and encomiendas just wanted cash crops, silver and gold.
@elhijodelsol5064
@elhijodelsol5064 5 лет назад
@@Crick1952 I know! that's why I think the Spanish's government reaction is so pathetic, I mean, a mature society as the Spanish society claims to be, could and should make self-criticism about its actions in the past, but instead their answer was arrogant and childish, as if they, in an act of infinite magnanimity and generosity, came to civilize the natives and fill our lives with joy... that's ridiculous

@tochtli9446

@@justinbeath5169 yea i mean no one in this time was a slave 300 years ago yes bad things happen but do the mongols say sorry to europe and china? No . Do the persians now iranians say sorry to greece or does italy say sorry to north africa from the times of rome? No because no one here existed hundred to thousands of years ago. We all believe killing and war is bad but we should apologizs for something we never did. Im not spanish btw im just saying no one should have to be responsible for what their ancestors did we live in the present do something about it now rather than saying sorry for the past
@Crick1952
@Crick1952 5 лет назад
@@tochtli9446 I agree that the idea of having to make reperations for things that occurred houndreds of years ago is stupid and silly and that people, collectively, are not responsible for the things their governments do. The thing is, the Spanish Crown still exists. The institution that organized the exploitation and benefited most from it still exists. That's where I see a fundamental difference between what the Mongol Khaganate, or the Sassanid Empire did and what the Spanish Empire did and why a mature acknowledgement of the pain that occurred is not unreasonable.
