Awesome build Lou! Love it. Good tip on when to decal certain parts. PS picked up the First Lunar Landing kit at Hobby Lobby yesterday. They are on clearance for $8.45! Just a FYI! Happy days and model on! 😎

Speaking of how does it land. I remember when I was a kid back in the 70s and I got my hands on the 1/72 scale Airfix Hawk I really didn't like that it didn't have some sort of landing gear, So I took the landing skids off an old Bell Jet Ranger "Chopper One" helicopter model (forget what scale) and attached them to the bottom sides of the Hawk.. Looked pretty good to like it was ment to be :)
Of all my dislikes for the show, I disliked the Hawk most of all. But that doesn't mean you didn't do a sweet job. Decal heaven, eh? Back stuff-- I recommend a super hot bath, but every 10 minutes add more hot water to keep the temp way up. Make sure to try to get your back to stretch with the tub. Maybe a total of 30 min. Gluing is like prunes-- is one not enough, is three too many? That darn stuff evaporates so quickly. I think I just try to wick it in these days. Maybe you should add some drops of MEK to tube glue. Thin it a bit. Not sure what to hold the stuff in or maybe it's just a batch for each job--? Or each seam--? Don't know. As for the Aries, you're still my main guy so what I see here will help me figure out whether I chisel off a major chunk of cash for it. I still have Walsh's 1/144 version that I learned miniature lighting on. Also I remade that cockpit in forced perspective to stuff it in the body above the passenger compartment. I'm curious to see what the pattern shop figured out for that.
There were 44, 22 and 11 inch eagle models used in filming to get a forced perspective, ie to make models appear distant from each other when in fact they were close together.
@@aztekdummy That's funny because your thumb nail for this video is a perfect example of a forced perspective "in" camera effect that they used back in the days before composited effects.
Hey Lou. I can certainly sympathise with back issues - my lumbar back region is currently going into spasm if I sit for too long which rather gets in the way of model building! Great build - it looks lovely ❤👍 Amazing difference when you put on the flat coat. If you want to get away from the orange, grey and white colour scheme you'd better avoid Space:1999 for a while! Regarding the question of how the ship lands - maybe its got retractable landing gear like most aircraft and many Sci-fi spaceships? Interesting that this is the second double-up in a row with the Grissom. Admittedly not the same kits as previous versions but certainly subjects you have tackled before. I guess the next model will have to have full lighting and a diorama base to distinguish it from all the other kids' efforts! As always, looking forward to seeing what you come up with next week 😁

Howdy, Didn't mean to rag you. Just seemed you weren't having as much fun. I haven't looked lately but have you heard anything of a kit of the new Orion / SLS moon rocket? It was just officially rolled out last week. I saw some custom made, executive office type pre-made ones. Pricey.

Lou, I have a question. Did you ever build the NSEA Protector from Galaxy Quest? Would you want to? I have the kit sitting on my shelf, and I am wondering if you want it.
the yellow thing? its a hard rubber sanding block that you can velcro different grades of sandpaper to. Got it at the auto parts store in their paint finish section
Lou + would you use that mix of orange and hull red on the twin pod cloud car from the empire strikes back just curious the reason I ask is I have a studio scale version of the twin pod cloud car I've been thinking about that kit not working on it it's on my to do list your input is valued
