Gunvolt didn't actually finish off Copen, he just wanted to approach him and talk. Copen on the other hand killed GV in the cutscene, but he was brought back.
Been ages since I first played this game. Even today I still go back to play it again with the goal to do better than last time. I always found it poetic that the very gimmick that saves you throughout the games ends up becoming your worst nightmare for the final boss. I can't even imagine the looks on the faces of those that relied so heavily on ANTHEM to get through the game.
When the game makes you play Gunvolt's part to learn that his weakness is water for the true fight against him, mind blown. The fight itself and the conversations between GV and Copen, along with this song, filled the fight with such high tension and stakes. Absolutely stunning.
This was such an unexpectedly great sequel. The original had an unique score-focused hook that made it stand out if you gave it a chance, but the refined difficulty balance all across the board combined with Copen's amazingly kinetic high-flying combat style that manages to capture the high-speed action of the Mega Man Zero series in a way that GV's own slower, more calculated gameplay system couldn't while still keeping the kind of unique score-based approach that made the original stand out... It just completely caught me off guard.
i actually still prefer gv's gameplay style exactly because its more calculative, while i do enjoy copen's gameplay style and see how people would prefer it since its faster and more varied
Im just sad about what they did with Copen in the 3rd. It seemed overly cliche. Didn't have the IMPACT the 2nd game had. Not spoiling what it is tho. Just an opinion after all.
I’m a Copen Main and GUNVOLT main, but I will say the two remind me of mega man X and Zero in a rival way Mega man and GUNVOLT needs a crossover sooner or later
I think I used Gunvolt first for this boss. I'm admittedly not very good at the GV games, so I ended up losing a bit of health from Guilt Combination, but I still managed to beat Copen. Then I saw the word ANTHEM on the screen. My heart fucking dropped. But it lead to one of the best fights I've ever had in this type of game, and the feeling of satisfaction I got from working out Copen's patterns was absolutely amazing. One of my favourite boss fights to date. (But fuck Doppler Destroyer with a rusty iron rod. I STILL can't dodge that attack, even years later.)
Completely forgot this song played during the final battle of this game between Copen and GV. Which is wrong of me, because this song was so great during that fight. Plus, the fact the "Muse" favored Copen over GV in that fight, was pretty cool. Up till this point for this game, if I recall correctly (it's been awhile since I last played this game), you didn't have a battle against someone who could use "The Muse" with her Anthem power. Very cool boss battle. Inti Creates completely nails it for their Azure Striker Gunvolt franchise, both aesthetics and music.
As a person who plays both monster hunter and gunvolt, let me tell you that this song elicits a feeling of impending dread and fear not dissimilar to the Bazelgeuse theme.
My reaction when this happened is "JOULE?!?! NO, NO!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT!?!?! (Swiftly dies)" also yes i played as gunvolt and not the racist asshole.
@@t-universegamer7609 Yeah Copen IX is sensible BUT!!! THE MAIN UNIVERSE COPEN IS DICK!!! well in copen end he seem to mature and sensible a bit more but still a dick!!!
@iytdominotik Yeah because when he has the Anthem up, you can't deplete his Prevasion like in phase one. You have to blast him with water or else you won't be able to hit him.
it's actually possible to attack him while his prevasion is up during Anthem! Copen's super can go through it and deal damage to him. its how i beat the Gunvolt fight cus i forgot to check for a weakness with my weapons, despite being desparate enough to try using Copen's super for a solution 😅

This is still one of the best final boss themes, for what was already one of the best final bosses in any game. It’s one of the very few times I have ever seen a final boss use an in-game player mechanic so naturally. Copen/GV using “anthem” to revive and get a second chance at fighting the PLAYER this time around was so fucking hype.
I'm gonna be honest. Going into GV2 hot off the heels of the first game (3DS Striker Pack, which I maintain to be the definitive edition of both games), I was kinda worried about the True Final Boss. Especially considering my atomic and unending hatred of Asimov and everything he stands for. I check to see the requirements for True Ending, and it's just finishing both stories so that's cool. I do get spoiled that the finale is GV vs Copen but I kinda figured that after seeing Copen's Ending so whatever. I did the Copen variant first, and GV was being pretty fair. Nothing crazy, decent if underwhelming fight, not that different from in Tenjian's stage. Then the Anthem kicks in. And GV goes _wild._ He's doing everything I wished Asimov did. He's using all of his playable moves. He's prevading but has a well-established weakness. He's putting a twist on his techniques to keep you on your toes while never making it an unreasonable attack to dodge. And he NEVER. LETS. UP. After it's over, I feel the exact opposite of how I felt after defeating Asimov: exhilarated, satisfied, and content. In a word, emotive. Then I play GV's version. IT'S SOMEHOW EVEN BETTER. Copen doesn't just do all the stuff I mentioned for GV, but he packs on the fanservice by whipping out his GV1 skills and calling back to Nova, GV1's best moment of gameplay, for his weakness. And he doesn't have this game's EX skills because _he never killed any of the Seven in GV's story and thus never got them._ The dialogue is also at some of its best, as not only is the text well-written and engaging but the delivery and juxtaposition of Copen's hate and GV's compassion is at its absolute peak here. And of course the endings are significantly better than GV1's True Ending but that isn't a surprise, as GV2 is better-written in general. This song is the perfect capstone to all of this, and solidifies Anthem GV/Copen as my second-favorite boss battle of all time.
Lol, I hope you get it, I'm obsessed with this series. I have both games separately on 3DS digitally, the 3DS striker pack (physical) , the Switch Striker pack (physical). And I'm still waiting, for my limited run copy of luminous avenger.
@JAY-STAG say it in a way that isn't normal. What a funny way of stating something is really subjective, so the best you can do is figure out a way of saying it that you find humorous
finished it for the first time a week or so ago, one of the best games I've played, haven't gotten around to 3 yet or the luminous avenger games, but this might top even megaman zero for me
Hahahaha it was a spectacular battle it makes me a bit sad that joule actually goes away for real after the fight tho i enjoyed her company and the realization that she was not coming back did hurt a bit but it is what it is i wonder what will happen next it took me a lot of tries to get it i think i broke the 3ds in one ocation 😅
I personally think his B attack should tag enemies and down B should be the flashfield and build up percent at the cost of not being able to defend themselves.
to be honest when this song played and Copen came back I was like OH YEAH BRING IT ON NOW I AM REALLY PUMPED same with when Gunvolt came back, Man I love the true ending final boss of GV 2 like it is actually a Fun Fight and it is not AZIMOV THANK GOD
so beautifully made. anyway i got invincible with copen . always 3 bullets, the "recharge hp weapon" and his super speed made me invincible. i ended the game around level 28 , underleveled as hell since i was unbeatable
Don't you touch him. (FLOATS UP IN THE AIR) FWOOSh! ANTHEM.... "Why the hell are you still alive??? I just blew you up-!!!" DoPPLeR DeSTRoYeR! LuXCaLiBUR....LAWNCHER! Stop effing shooting Greed Snatchers and LuXCaLiBUR at me damn YouUu!!!
@@seveneighths1278 i got that clue on nova's battle since lumen cast a barrier on him so in copen's case its easier for me since it does not reflect GV's dart
P0W3RL0GiK Gaming thanks it was a pain to colour on a free phone app Though I haven’t read the whole manga as I’m waiting for the english release of the last volume.
My theory is that adepts are the next evolutionary step for humanity. Copen hates adepts because Sumaragi Group killed his dad. His sister is(spoiler, for you babies) actually an adept, as we discover through playing the game. So now he is left with a choice... continue to end adepts, which means ending his sister one day, or realizing his hatred is misplaced. As for gunvolt..... his ending sucked just as much. Still on the run from Sumaragi Group, still on the run from Copen, the woman he loved is gone...yeah, the woman he is living with could take her place, but that is cheap and cliche
@@mightymitchell99 Don't know man, X and Zero have fought other electro masters and come out on top. Not to mention they have so many abilities that it's ridiculously unfair. Even in lore, X and his predecessor the original Megaman never kept their powers for long and gave them away out of fear of becoming too strong to the point that no one could stop them if they went rogue.
Would be cool not gonna lie but Copen essentially needs a Shadow moment cause the man has a serious hate for Adepts which GV is so I cant see Copen working with GV
Everytime I hear this I imagine that at some point, GV gets sick of Copen’s racist agenda and the fight proceeds to them throwing hands instead of using any special abilities.
