On May 10th 1945, 2 days after VE Day, B-17G 44-8198 was involved in a mid-air collision over Braintree England, and crashed killing all 11 American servicemen on board. The aircraft was taking ground crew on a trip over Germany to see the damge done.
On the 70th anniversary of the accident, Braintree honoured those who died with a memorial dedication.
The day started with a private visit by family members to the site of the crash.
The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flew three fly pasts with a Spitfire and two Hurricanes in salute.
