B-25 Recovery from Lake Murray, SC/ This is a presentation given by Gene Hobbs to the Down Under Surf and Scuba Club documenting the 2005 recovery and preservation of a B-25c bomber from Lake Murray, South Carolina.
On Sunday April 4, 1943, this B-25 bomber was flown on a skip bombing training mission over Lake Murray in South Carolina. Engine problems while flying at only 500 feet lead to the ditching of the aircraft. This is where it remained until 2005 when and Explorer’s Club expedition recovered the plane.
This is the only remaining B-25 with a lower turret. It is the second oldest B-25 and one of only three B-25C model planes in existence.
The recovery efforts of this team were documented on the show Mega Movers on the History Channel.
