B Music: 'Seen' by Christopher Dennis Coleman Voiceover from 'Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium' Filmed by: Shaffer Nickel - @ShafferN Alex Gasaway - @ModernFounder Erin McGinnis Jake Frew
My interpretation of this 3-part short film is that “R” represents birth. The red and orange light flooding into the house. The light turning on as night slowly creeps in. The flashes to moments from childhood on the TV. The fact that in utero, foetuses can only see one colour - red. Then I think “G” represents the duration of life between birth and death. Green is such a vernal and alive colour. The whole short film is about adventure exploration. A bunch of friends having fun - having the times of their life. Finally, I think “B” represents death. The light turning off in the house as the sun slowly starts to rise (perhaps a crossing over to the “other side.” Afterwards, Jake is getting into bed and turning off the light. Perhaps a metaphor for the “death bed.” The voice over is all about death. The colour blue often represents melancholy and grief. The shots where Jake is just standing in these vast, stark, and Sublime landscapes. The winter landscapes when winter represents death before the spring comes for a rebirth. I could go on and on but this is my quick analysis. As a colourist and filmmaker, these three short films really spoke to me. Masterfully made. Thank you, Jake.
This was just as amazing as the last two. How you managed to create something so powerful that doesn’t barely last 2 minutes is beyond me. If I ever, ever manage to create anything half as good as this, with as much emotional impact, I will really really be happy. You’ve done amazing work yet again Jake. I really hope you see this comment. Your really inspiring. But don’t get hung up on that, keep creating what you want to create.
Stumbled across the RGB videos a while ago, but didn't really pay much attention and didn't even finish watching them. I just watched your breakdown video and rewatched all three videos. B could be one of the most beautiful RU-vid videos I've ever watched. Shivers the entire time. You were right in the breakdown that the voiceover really adds sooooo much! You've earned a sub from me!
This one is really really beautiful. All three of these are, but something about the tone and theme of this final one struck a chord within me. Very moving, Jake! Grateful to be in this life with you :)
Absolutely blown away by the depth and intimacy of "B". It is thought-provoking and contemplative, really making me reflect on my own life. Your work continues to impress, Jake! As an avid fan, I'm always excited to see what you come up with next!
Jake.. You are not just a videographer, you're an artist, a story-teller, a magician. You create masterpieces that transport viewers and generates real emotions. I admire you and your work and i'm so grateful I get to witness your genius!
Dude these videos are absolutely amazing. What an incredible concept and what a great delivery. Loved that in each video did not only had it's own color, but compizitional style. Absolyte pitch perfect use of dutch angle, in the most unvonventional way. One of the best thing i've seen on YT.
I was NOT expecting to be emotional and full of tears this early in the morning. this was phenomenal. PLUS, you reminded me of one of the most heartfelt and touching moments in a movie I was not prepared to find such writing in. I LOVED this scene, and cry EVERY TIME I hear it. Great video. going in a playlist to watch more than once.
These three videos were beautiful man, insanely good work, you truly are the master of telling beautiful, touching stories in just a few minutes that feel like they tell a whole life story. Thank you for your work man.
This did not feel like I watched 2 minutes. It feels like its been several hours. It feels like time slowed down. It felt great. Thanks for making this video.
You have the most beautiful eye! The film is amazing in sound quality, story, visuals, correlation, and story progression. Colour grading is amazing too! Love it. Very movie style.
