I have a great uncle Willie Beveridge that was in the British Caledonia pipe band. He’s now in his late 80s early 90s but was checking to see if anyone knew him in here?
Hi Thomas - yes, I remember Willie's name. My memory is a bit hazy though - was he based up in Scotland (mid-week band practices) or down south (Sunday practices at Gatwick Airport) like me ? We could fly on the B. Cal. shuttle for free if there were seats available, so able to attend both practices.
Yes, I know Willie - have played with his Balmoral Highlanders in the past. Used to know Rab Kelly from early 70's when the RAMC reformed as the Blue Bonnets, and John Newlands rings a bell too.
@ChrisZ70 Just lucky that I decided to buy my first video camera at that time (1985), and that Alex had flown down from Scotland that Sunday. Glad you like it !
Hi Bob, I remember your name, I knew Bob Richardson well, I played with Willie Cochrane and Bob would come down now and then. i also played With John Newlands and Rab Kelly in the Pride of Murray Rab Kelly was talented in many ways ??? The good old Days, Cheers
Hi Bob, once again, thanks for sharing. Did you know Rab Turner in B CAL ? Used to be Muirhead ? Now in New Zealand. Feed us the music ! Have a great new year !
+Janet Wilson When I joined B.Cal. in 1978, the lead drummer was Davie Bruce (his dad was D/M Robert Bruce who composed the 3/4 "Balmoral"). Then, some time after, Rab Turner took over as lead drummer - I remember him well. Best wishes for 2016 !
