I just had this happen, after waiting for the Form1 to get approval. Thank you for the (long winded) explanation. eta: Email them and they will send you a pin. But, good on 2A for putting this info out there and having a solution.
my apc 9 pro from 3-4 years ago has a metal end plate. It uses the threaded hinge pin. I wound up installing an AR stock adapter on the end regardless when I got my form 1. Not a fan of the MBT stock. I have the older 3 position collapsible B&T stock on my SP5. It is far easier to use/deploy than the MBT.
Travis, I spoke with you about this a week or so ago about this. Can't wait for you to manufacture these press fit hinge pins. I went to order a press fit online and they wanted $20. I grumbled and said alright and started to check out. Than they get to the shipping and want $18.50 to FedEx this. Are they insane? Hard no, and I closed the tab. UFB. I'm going to call their customer service and complain. They should ship all APC 9 owners a free hinge pin.
Why would a serious firearm manufacturer make a stock that takes two hands to adjust? Why would they design it to flop around when folded? Why would the use a design and materials that deform and shred with normal use? B&T is a top notch manufacturer, no doubt and I love them. I have a pistol caliber MBT setup and one for the APC308. I’m not selling them but this design has three strikes against them. I prefer the telescoping stocks: more compact and easy to deploy and adjust - though it’s not as comfortable. Anyhow considering the quality of the guns, I don’t know why the MBT ever made it to the consumer, it is not ready for Prime Time. Thank you for the video and the details about the types of hinge pins!
Good points on your part. Hx on the history of the stock; B&at was going to use the ACR but reportedly Magpul dicountinued the ACR causing B&T to make the MBT.
Just got the JAKL version today from PSA comes with alloy adapter plate installed on the stock, and install hardware for $200 plus tax and shipping. Not bad, I’ve paid as much for a SB tact braces. Im so glad im not the only one pissed about the hinge deformation first time i unfolded the stock i could feel their polymer smooshing, i then realized what if i lift up on it, and that alleviated the problem. Either their polymer sucks it shouldn’t squish like that, they’re using too soft a polymer, or they cut corners from the original design and didn’t make the hinges out of steel like they should have been! I’d also like to not have to use two hands to change the length of the stock maybe I’m spoiled for usa stocks? Honestly i think i might return it.. just kinda disappointed.
Perfect video. ! I just talked to you earlier this week, about that apc223 you’ve got Will be ordering that from you soon & my mbt brace for my apc9 Take it easy sir thanks for fixing this issue !
Just ordered my MBT stock directly from there and it came with that same threaded torx bolt. Useless just like you mentioned. I think they are swapping it out for me. I dont think there is a safety issue with the polymer end cap. If that was the case B&T would be obligated to issue a recal or notice to switch to the metal if it was safety related.
Perhaps but I was told directly in an email from B&T the metal endcaps are for apc10/308. It’s nuts how much money B&T is loosing in customer service issues….
Seems like what they want the consumer to do is buy the alloy mbt stock adapter with buffer & the mbt stock. It states this on the adapter on the B&T site. This is the MBT adapter with hydraulic buffer for APC pistol calibers. THIS IS JUST THE ADAPTER. STOCK NOT INCLUDED. Depending on the age of your APC it may not have the updated MBT adapter....
