@@ahopper42 It's a product announcement. All of the #gunfest2021 videos are product announcements, not reviews. Normally, I would be at SHOT Show walking around the convention center floor, and I wouldn't be able to shoot the gun anyways. (Or we would be shooting it at range day and someone would be shooting a belt fed right next to us.) At least I got to shoot it myself, and we have some b-roll of it functioning, which is better than nothing. Full review coming soon once I can get a copy.
If you really want two thousand, you could have just landed here from Mars and if you put your mind to it you can have that money in no time. I just sold a bunch of stuff I wasn't using on ebay for almost 3k total and that took 7 days for it to be sold and another week to get the money. Its your attitude that has to change. If you want six figures figure out a way how to get there and go after it like your life is depending on it.
@@Niko-xt5bs USUALLY 8 to 9USD per box for brass cased full metal jacket. Maybe a dollar cheaper for steel case. Right now you're lucky to find them for 16USD. I've seen stores pricing 9mm at 45USD Each box contains 50 rounds btw.
Love the Welrod, handled a lot of them. I've played with a VP9 and it's a great modernisation. The non-proprietary magazine is a smart move and I assume they've named it Station 6 after SOE Station VI at Bride Hall or Experimental Station VI (also in Hertfordshire)?

@@TheSonsOfSimon so the Welrod was designed for use by the SOE during WWII and they had a series of 'stations' or departments that did various things like training, weapons development, planning there were about a dozen of them. Bride Hall was known as Station VI and were a weapons depot if I recall correctly so if that's what they're alluding to its a pretty cool link back to the Welrod that inspired the VP9 / Station 6. Going to have a video on some of the originals on my channel in a few months along with Suppressed Stens, Sterlings and Delisle carbines.

My thoughts also. I'm sure there are some variables that keep them from giving exact answers for all cases but some general ideas about performance or performance based on specific circumstances would be nice.
The wipes stay good for 10-30 rds and it gets significantly louder but still quiet enough to use without earpro. The sucky thing is the wipes are regulated and you need a separate stamp(i believe). You can't technically make your own wipes legally.

@@dick-parker I don't think the price comes from the actual gun as much as it comes from the Swiss labor cost and the fact that you are also getting two supressors. But yeah, still wouldn't buy it for that price.

When they said $2000 I busted out laughing especially since they just got done talking about people hacking on it. I’m done this videos over before it’s over.
Plus, most of the people interested already have 9mm suppressors. Why not a version with a standard thread pitch and no suppressor? Leave the $2K to the die hard collectors.
@@JamesS.254 The $2000 comes with two suppressors, which works out to $667 for each item in the set. Well within your stated limit. Like they said in the video, there is no point in buying anything in the set by itself.

@@doejohn8674 somewhat agreed, but its high quality, we got better salaries than US americans and i live only a car hour from B&T, so if there is a problem, the solution is fairly close.
@@Genesis23OPB I am 20min. further out :) B&T has good after sales support. Ijust ordered one of their new RBS suppressors in .30 cal, but 2.5k is still quite steep for a range toy.

Is that a potential tax deduction in the US? We'll never get them here in Australia, but if we did they would be a definite business expense for vets, hence a tax write off.
Huge missed opportunity here. Could’ve sold just the gun, threaded 1/2x28 for those of us who already own suppressors, for under $400. Ideally the barrel/upper receiver should be 1.37” in thickness so the average can won’t obscure the sights. But I’m not paying $2000 for this... The 1911 mag idea is neat though.
Gotta say, I'm actually really bummed they changed the magazine. I get the appeal of using a non-proprietary mag, and generally I'm all for it, but the entire grip coming off for transport was a big part of the appeal and history for me.

I thought the ATF had a bee in it's bonnet on replacing wipes seen as modifying/ manufacturing a suppressor. Did that happen or was I having a fever dream.
Suppressors would be good for the economy in some major cities. If people could sleep at night in certain areas of town, maybe they could get up for work and wouldn't have such high unemployment. Who's got time for gangbanging when you got a 9 to 5? I think suppressors could solve inner-city violence or at least do no harm.
Wipes are considered a suppressor component, as such having "spares" is considered illegal. That being said, as of now you can destroy your used wipes, then use a punch tool to make replacement wipes yourself. Check back in tomorrow to see if the ATF changes it's mind again...
B&T operate like H&K. Their main focus is military and government agency contracts, and the civilian market is barely an afterthought for them, which is why over half their catalog is NFA items. They didn't make this pistol for the american market most likely, and didn't give much thought to the legal limitations of the NFA or GCA.
I would really like one of those in 22 LR. 2K is a bit much but not totally outrageous wither considering how devalued our money is. One of those would be a must for a bug out bag.
Considering your average suppressor price is about 800 (pre tax stamp), 2 suppressors AND a gun for 2000 is literally a steal. Basically 2 suppressors and a free gun.

How can two people be named "Dave"? Although, notice the name change to Station 6. There may have been a backroom conversation between HK and B&T and, because B&T work somewhat closely with HK, B&T changed the name. That's my speculation though.

When Major Hugh Reeves developed the Welrod, he knew it would cost little to produce. The idea was to drop these pistols to resistance fighters behind German lines. They were crude weapons. Fast-forward to 2021....recreate it and charge $2000 for a pipe and a firing pin? I don't get it. I guess there will be some who will pay for that nostalgia, but I don't think the line will go around the block. When I think of the new guns on the market that I can purchase for $2000, the bolt action pistol holds no attraction. Just MHO.
It's a speciality tool, yes they can make it semi auto for the price, that's not what it's designed for tho, it's bolt action so you dont drop the cartridge, it's an assassin tool not a toy

@@Soff1859 of course NOT!!! Coathanger mandatory in all and any pistol (long barrel pistol/long barrel revolver). Only option is obsolete caliber and black powder revolvers, these can be "accurate" anything else 26" and 13" barrel at least if I recall. Cant afford moving to your paradise without a job man, and would go with joy and my 5 handguns I keep in Spain
@@Soff1859 started as sport shooter, only 1, you upgrade in competitions, sports second class allows 6 and national 10; always kept in a safe at home. In UK I have to apply for anything available and they don't even consider your history, new shooter, start from ground level as probation member in a club and after time apply. YES i need this gun; people I asked about it were the typical i'm too cool for real opinions and just said "why would you want a veterinary pistol that's dumb." And to that I say because sniper elite and badassery. Wellrods are cool.

Needs some kind of thumb actuation for that bolt release. Keep two hands in the shooting position and maintain sight picture, but preserve the manual movement for maximum quiet.
I can see the 45 being popular since it is naturally subsonic, problem is wipes are not a user serviceable part according to the ATF and will still require owners to sent it into B&T or licensed repair facility to change out the wipes.
Interesting handgun, I got a feeling that one day B&T will make a semi auto version of it and have an actual barrel length for suppressed and unsuppressed, nice to see manufactures bring back old guns into the modern world unlike one, looking at you HK
What do you mean "have an actual barrel length for suppressed and un suppressed shooting"? I know he didn't state it in the video, but it's clearly about a 3 inch barrel. That's spretty standard length for a handgun, and the gun can already be shot suppressed or un suppressed.. how would it being semi auto make any difference on its ability as a suppressor host?
@@JTheraos I’m not talking about that, and also the barrel length yeah it’s 3” but would like the see a 4.2” or 4.6”. 3” you are on the bleeding edge of 9mm based on terminal ballistics, also instead of cocking it as a blot action rifle in that sense, they could do a semi auto version where if you need the reload or whatever you lock it back and put a new mag in. This is a collectors piece and not a fun day on the range type thing where you are going to put 10,000 rounds through it
@@Chris09978I think a semi auto version kinda defeats the point of a welrod pistol clone. There are already plenty of semi auto handguns. That work suppressed. The whole selling point of this handgun is it not being semi auto.
During WW II there was a .45 ACP with an integral suppressor which was made in very limited numbers. It was based upon the Lee Enfield bolt action and was supposedly one of the quietest firearms ever made.
The DeLisle Carbine, _allegedly_ as low as 85 dB, _but_ that was before modern sound measuring equipment. It is, however, hollywood quiet and would have served it's role well of eliminating sentries or dogs in a combat zone. There's a guy who does a few repros and they're apparently very good, and there was a suppressed Ruger 77/44 (aftermarket mod) that was integrally silenced that i'm sure pulled inspiration from the DeLisle.
Didnt Dead Air get in trouble with the ATF with their suppressor that had wipes? I thought the ATF declared the wipes to be parts that cant be replaced by the user.
Id imagine for cheaper you can get those slide locked s&w hush puppie remakes. But the vp9 is smaller and more accurate and weridly enough longer lasting.
I'd love to know their reasoning behind the price tag, considering it's a preexisting design they barely had to invest R&D to tweak, it's a single shot handgun which is much simpler fewer moving bits, and it remains ugly as sin. Gun companies that think they're better than the common man, right there.
Because its a gun that serves no purpose and is illegal/highly regulated almost everywhere on earth that only appeals to wannabe assassins. They probably only plan on selling a dozen or so globally so they need a high mark up just to get a ROI.
Looks a great product just like the GHM and APC8 . It's yet another product that will never be seen at your local gun store and only on RU-vid. They must only be selling their products to content providers before they run out of stock. The real question that should be asked is how many are you shipping out to the stores.
They really need to offer just the pistol. I really want one but I'm not dropping $2400 on a novelty bolt action .45 or 9mm pistol with two dedicated cans. Hell B&T could charge a stupid $1k for the pistol and I'd still buy it, they'd make a hefty profit, and there will be far more sales. Oh and it really needs to be set up for an optic out of the box. Hell even just drill and tap the receiver or barrel, I'm sure there's a bolt action scope base or something you'd see for a Ruger MKwhatever that'd fit
