Nice to see a current review on the Anniversary edition. I purchased these recently and find your review right on and very knowledgeable. I agreed with all your analysis and it reinforced my feelings about these great speakers. I too owned the previous 603.
@@Doggo_Norse Even though we recently switched to their bigger brothers (702 S2), their sound quality still is pretty great, especially for their „entry level“ pricing. I can imagine them being great speakers for your home theater. :)
Very nice and very honest review.. i own this over a year now and paired it with arcam sa10, and it blow me away… very engaging and very pleasant to listen for hours and hours, its not tiring at all…the more you listen the more you discover how lovely it was 😊
All your reviews are really great. Kindly change the song for sound demo please because hearing the same song again and again in almost all of your sound demo videos.🙂
Fantastic review. I couldnt agree with you more on your thoughts and comments. It was good to find this video after I had some time on them in the house. You confirmed what I was hearing, Odly enough they had a wider soundstage the the 700 series( tweeter on top) when I originally demoed them. I even had them move the speakers around to same spot. Went back and forth for 20 mins. Couldnt figure that one out . They were $2.3k/speaker? Just picked them up mint demos for stupid cheap, and couldn't pass them up at the price after listening. Not what I was going in to demo them( martin logan 60 and 40 xti) Listend to Kef 950s as well. Was going in to see if they had some BW 703 s2's. For music, I'm running a Schitt Freya N pre, and 1985 Hafler DH-220. At home in my room, they seemed bright at first until I gave them some room to breathe ( sidewall separation) , little more rear and speaker separation completely different speaker. On axis at 0 toe.I had a little learning curve as well after listening to Klipsch KG4's loudly for 38 years.: ) Not to rehash review but what did stand out is low listening session resoultion is as described, incredible, clear, detailed and high "resoultion". Soundstage as well. I can sit off access of left and still hear the right speaker. Not a party speaker, almost sounds like your in a studio with certain genres. Plays well above its price in my POV.
Thanks for your great and honest reviews - I heard you talk about soundstage but not imaging. How do they image? Or do you consider imaging in your soundstage rating
Hello. I appreciate your opinion on comparing these B&W speakers with relatively prevalent B&W 703 S.2's. It seems like the main difference between them is the woofers (Aerofoil vs paper cones). Three additional remarks: 1- I share your opinion/advice on using good headphones for RU-vid Sound Demos. I am using my good old Sennheiser HD 380 pro's. 2- I like to ask why your Marantz network/cd player unit is absent. 3- Your cabinet is a handsome choice.
Nice video and review. You are one of my reference youtubers for Hi-Fi. Is there an issue with this sound recording? It does not sound right.. please double check it.
I think that step by step your reviews are better and better..👍🙂 But I've got a big problem ... I can't stop dreaming about the best speakers that money just can buy...what I have to do? When will it end?🤔😃😉
Never ending story 😁, you just have end it when you are happy with the sound of your system, please keep in mind no perfect speaker for everyone, thanks
I got these speakers but ended up returning them. They looked gorgeous and I really really wanted to like them but found them extremely tiring to listen to. After a couple of minutes I would unconsciously start to lower the volume and want to turn the sound off. My ears would be ringing after. Excessive brightness? I got a pair of QAcoustics after and my ears are very happy now, no fatigue at all.
Make sure the speakers is run in. But yes They are bright i have 702 s2 witch is also bright They had proably around 100 hours before They come together
Hello,i really like your videos and i am a happy owner of the 706 s2 because of you.I would really appreciate it if you could measure their frequency response and post the results. Thanks
@@priedits Yeah, I put my 706s2 on the side surround duty and got a set of 704's, just wanted some floorstanders for the front left and right and these were 700$ off (scratch and dent), one had a little divot in the top back, really a spectacular speaker. Congrats
Thank you for your amazing review. I bought 603S2 a year back & somehow my 603 S2 tweeter grill (silver colored) is misplaced & i am looking out for one. Any idea or solution to procure this tweeter grill. Your help shall be appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for the great and detailed review. I'm planning to buy a set of 603AE. The veneer ones look stunning. My budget is round €1800 euro's. I wil use an old NAD amp for now. In the Future i'm planning to buy a Amp between 500/1000 euro's. What do you think of Marantz paired with these speakers?
If You want to get the most detailed and flattest and sound out of this 2000€, Invert 1000 at least in acoustic treatment and the other 1000 in equipement. The most flat sounding speakers in my opinion are mixing active speakers such as the Focal Alpha 80, or the Yamaha HS 8. That is what an acoustic engineer would buy to mix songs in a studio. The best speakers can sound terrible in an untreated room.
Excellent review. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I just came back from a demo comparing the Monitor Audio Silver 300 and the B&W 603 S2. I was planning to get the Monitor Audio but after listening the B&W I don’t know that to do. B&W sounded much better for me. Do you think we can compare the 603 V2 with the Fyne Audio F502?
I just have the same problem .. i think that both Monitors audio silver 300 and B&w 602s2 are great., monitors audio are $ 2300 dollars versus $ 2000 for the B&w , both brands have a particular sound , both have possitive reviews , so its up to you
Have I just seen coils with a ferite core? 1:37 It looks way different than the marketing picture at 7:13 It makes "woof-woof" out of a double bass, piano sounds like covered with fat blanket . Just yet another home theater cheap speakers from a well known brand with a cosmic margin
the are two separate circuits (crossovers) inside 1:37 for woofers and 7:13 for midrange and tweeter. Don't waste your time, and don't try to fool anybody else
Yup, iron-core inductors and sandcast resistors. Erse air-cores plus Mills resistors would be a nice upgrade, but everything these days is about hitting a price point.
Why audiophile reviewer's don't review MERIDIAN AUDIO. I'm really surprised to see that on RU-vid you can't find reviews on meridian audio speakers while they are a conglomerate in TRUE HI-FI.🙄
😊hello, to enjoy these speakers B&W603 S2 to the maximum, what power is needed 150w 200w and what brand of amplifier is perfectly combined with these speakers.
Hi it would be depending on the price point but I would suggest you to try with biggest power supply in your targeted price range for maximum current delivery which is more important for HiFi sound than Watt rating. Thanks
sorry to bother you again. in the price range from 1000 or 1500 even 1800, what amplifier do you recommend to fit perfectly. with b&w 603 s2 tell us one and I'll buy it. "likes the warm sound"
@@cristiprundaru2340 I can’t do personalized advice because everyone has different tastes but here is my current favorite, thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lnzOYNgiOLw.html
It would be base on your personal preference, 603 S2 will be more dynamic, wider sound stage and better bass quality, Evo bass is good but a bit slower.
Hi, thinking of getting this but other choices are Focal Chora 826 or ELAC Debut Reference. Any ideas which one would be the best? would be using it for 60/40 music and movies
That is exactly the comparison I had in my mind. I'm actually considering both and the quad s-4 which has almost zero footprint in social media / review arena .
I have to ask, are you SURE this is real veneer? The official site right now says (straight quote) "Oak wood effect finish". And I've read in a few sources that it's vinyl. I'm not fighting over it, just asking.
Yes, my sample had about 3/4inch damage in the back side from shipping which I can see the wood veneer or may be very good artificial veneer, hard to tell the difference without peeling it off.
Hi, Im planning to get this but will be using it for home theater so for now AVR and not stereo amplifiers. Will it sound bright? Im thinking of denon or marantz. I heard marantz has a warmer sound so would this help with the brightness of the speakers?
Can they be 1 ft away from wall, as I dont have space for 3 ft away. In this price range, we have Evo 4.4, Tannoy XT6F, Monitor Audio Silver 200. What would you recommend in this price range for Music/HT equal usage.
Great dynamics, but sorry, those typical metallic tweeters “ssss” makes this too much agressive for my taste. Typical more affordable B&W sound signature, in my humble opinion. Different price point, for sure, but the day you’ll connect your system to a pair of ProAc you’ll just fall in love again...
@@Tharbamar Thanks! I might snag these 603s as I primarily listen to rock and metal. You're one of the very few channels that do reviews with that type of music which is why I've been subscribed for so long. Cheers
It would fit. But i dont think it would be a good fit. You better mix those 603s2 with a good rotel or good marantz. I love em with a roksan k3 also. Those 3 brands would be what i call a good fit for those towers.
@@Tharbamar Thank you! I will likely buy a pair of V8Ts in the coming months. I know you have a 10% off code, which is great, but to your knowledge, do you know if Aperion Audio will be running any kind of Christmas or Black Friday sale that is greater than 10%?
Could use more bass is right. I just went to a high-end audio store to buy these exact speakers. I took a listen before purchase and holy...these sound weak. Good definition and upper/mid purity, but I would need a subwoofer for these speakers. Did not buy.

hello, I also have a question, I have a marantz pm7000n amplifier and I want to know if this amplifier can push these speakers? I listen to music at high volume 70 80% I will have distortion at this volume with these speakers, what do you think
Hello THARBAMAR !!! Thanks for videos👍👍 What your opinion ?Must i but tomorrow : Bw 706 or Bw 603 or Bw 703 ??? What will you buy ? My living Room does 35 40 m2 For the moment 2.1 hifi Then 5.1 or 7.1 for home cinema Thanks 👍👍👍
I could only imagine how good this would sound if you had a black singer with soul or someone with rasp, full, grit voice like Norah Jones or Carole King. Unfortunately asian singers may hit all the notes but it's always dull and bland with no flavor. Awesome speakers. I plan to purchase these first week of February. So stoked
@Hoy Sum It is not a criticism it is a feedback that maybe will help improve and have more success. If you are not able to take on negative feedback you are not professional enough.
I think they need some time to break in, but more importantly you need to get them some breathing room. You need to spend a little time with these setting them up correctly in the room, and pairing them with the right hardware. A bit of a princess YMMV.
