Joe Munoz describes how the B737NG has a beneficial hydraulic feature that the A320 doesn’t He goes on to explain that the Landing Gear Transfer Unit “LGTU” works by sensing the gear retraction command from the gear handle together with either main gear not being up and locked and the #1 engine N2 going below a limit value as described in the FCOM Vol 2 Ch 13.
Watch now to see how Boeing ensured the gear would retract with a #1 engine failure even if there’s no hydraulic fluid in system A (the hydraulic system that drives the gear).

Scrolling to see the only question that popped into my head... B737 NG, you've lost system A fluid and suffer a NO. 2 ENGINE FAILURE in your missed approach. Can you retract the gear?

Nice work like always! So you can lose number 2/B system the gear will still retract no problem caz the gear runs of the A system? Thanks,

Thanks. I never flew the NG. Just the 200, 300, 500. They didn’t work like that. Question. Is there an additional hydraulic actuator on the gear so the right hydraulic can raise the gear? How does that work?
