Welcome to our latest journey to the remotest of the remotest North Vietnam!!
Today, we are off to explore Ba Be Lake with our guide, Queen. Ba Be Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Vietnam. It lies in the middle of the vast limestone mountain range of Ba Be National Park with large and small islands of limestone rising out of the water. We are to take our guesthouse owner Ching's boat out to the lake. The jetty is about a 10-minute walk from our guesthouse. We leave after having our breakfast of local pancakes and fresh fruits.
The sky is bright, as we are in the heart of winter the air is cold as the boat begins to speed up. It's such a stunning landscape that begins to open up. The water is calm and the colours and reflections of the mountains on the water... no words can describe the peace it brings upon you.
We wander through the lake till we join onto another river called Nam River. This river will lead us to a cave. The colour of the water here changes to a clear greenish brown. The landscape continues to be stunning, and we all begin to zone off into a dreamy headspace. We cross many river bank village homes and farms along the way.
We spot a huge triangle shaped gap in one of the mountains, and it's the cave. The boat enters this big magnificent cave and docks on the side. We get off and do a little exploring. It turns out that this cave is inhabited by thousands of bats. We shine our torches up the ceiling of the cave to see the bats hanging and some flying. The cave itself looks so amazing. After this, we head back to the boat and continue our journey on. It's time for lunch as we head down the river into one of the villages by the water.

We are Mayur, Gayatri and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean.
Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips, some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites and simply getting lost. Being in corporate job for the daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
