Like my previous video, the noise is alot more evident in this video
early morning first cold start of the day
At the moment, I'm leading to a worn camshaft (cam lobes are pitted and spalled) causing excessive lifter clearance)
UPDATE:: REPLACED CAMSHAFTS WITH NEWER/NON DAMAGED BF-FG CAMSHAFTS, AND NOISE IS GONE! WOOTWOOT

Wasn’t the intake manifold in my situation, I replaced the camshafts the knocking\clacking went away

Leaking manifold sounds pretty much the same check manifold bolts are tight

i get a similar pattern noise from the top but its not a tick tick tick tick. its more of a woosh woosh woosh.

Did you find out what it was? I have a simular noise and also sounds like its coming from the top of my motor in my ba xr6t

hey Brett, I went to the wreckers and picked up a set of newer camshafts (remove your valve cover and see if the camshaft lobes are rusted, pitted or worn) if so, try and get some BF 06\2006 upwards to FG (non turbo and turbo are the same part number)

Hey mate. Was it a big job too fix? Have the same noise in my ute? Does the engine have to come out too fix? I have just brought a new timing chain thinking it was that...

No it doesn't need to come out, but it is a fair fix due to cam timing, and possibly lifter damages to everything else. Best case it's just a bad lifter that hasn't pitted your cams yet. If it has you'll have metal circulating in the engine

Just having the same noise now at idle And Cruising speed wihen accelerating. Also hesitates on acceleration then takes off so to speak. Should of Kept the xf panel van and recognition that. BA wagon 2004 had it 4 years was a grandmums car now only 144.000ks

hey glenn I thought it was, But knocking was coming from up top Ended up replacing camshafts to BF-FG camshafts, and noise is gone!!!

I ended up selling the car, was a good car honestly. just wanted to experience the ute life and see if it suited my lifestyle. ended up being very impractical in my situation
