0:39 It's the moment when the actual owner of the pots and buckets (The black guy) realizes this kid is a fucking genius and pops into the crowd to be a spectator AND then puts money in his own bucket for the sheer awesomeness of the performance.
Not every drummer's aspiration is to be 'in a band' people. Love and a passion to play the instrument comes first. Much to your surprise perhaps, we don't need to be in a band to have a ripping time, as evidenced by this guy.
Just the fact that he plays on buckets and it sounds actually good, makes him awesome, its not his drumset its the drumset of the blackguy in the background. and hes amazing too
IMO: Serious drumming is the ability to hold a proper beat, and seamlessly integrate one beat into another to create the pulse of a song. This can be done with just your fingers and a table. Drumming is about the rythym, Not the instrument they made to work with the rythym.
You're right, no innovation has ever been put forward by any drummer in any band, ever. Meanwhile, a kid playing as loud and as fast as he can on a couple of plastic buckets, not even managing to keep decent time, and demonstrating the approximate musical sensibility of a jackhammer, is the most creative drummer ever.
Being in a Band kills a Drummers inspiration for innovation. Because even though the Drummer is the most talented guy on that stage over half the time, the Egos push their way 2the front 2 either eat the Mic, Play platitudes as loud as they can over their crotches, line up a dozen pedals & then just distort it 2fuck or play clean with phaser for verses, & other insipid clichés. And the Drummer gets pushed 2the back & told 2play along. This is 1 Drummer doing his own thing. Much more impressive.
Because I thought it was a somewhat whitty comment on THIS page? Hopefully Lars already know that the sound on St. Anger is one of the worst drumsounds ever recorded....... (and for the record, if you had any other thoughts, yes... I am an old Metallica-fan!)
