Similar situation happening at Minnetonka Spur at Midrand. I worked there as a student, didn’t last 3 months. You get paid from tips and a percentage goes to the restaurant. You get a higher percentage of your tip, if you sell certain meals on the menu. You buy your own uniform, pen, book, etc. There is no contract or pay slip, you get replaced in a minute. The conditions sucked. Most of the waiters are not South African.
The thing is if we the people keep quiet that's where the problem lies... For example we are going to let this die down, we going to sit in our coners and say we tired of comolaing because there's no result

I worked 17 days at uMhlanga Durban kwesinye istolo ( sabelungu) sokudla nakhona bayahlukumezana yho.. i was working as a chef coz im a qualified chef we had a basic salary but thy were not paying us for overtime which we HAD to work ke phof ngenkani 😂😂 We had to buy our own uniform, mind u i already had uniform but because it didn't have their logo i had to buy a new on .. if u know the industry u know how expensive it is. For the waiters and waitresses it's even worse 😢 The majority of workers are foreigners ke sana.
