He (7 weeks) wants the pacifier, but doesn't really start sucking. As it almost falls out, he tries to push it back in

Why do people keep shoving the dummy in when it’s clear the baby is hungry!!🙄🙄🙄
@Xessa82
@Xessa82 11 дней назад
Because this baby is very clearly NOT hungry. This is how newborn babies end up getting over fed by parents, care takers or baby sitters because they don't know how to read the baby's cues. They have a very different cry when they're hungry and they'll show in their body language that they're hungry as well. This baby just wanted to suckle and wanting to do that does not mean they're hungry. They are born with the instinct and reflex to suck and root. Yes, both reflexes are what helps them to be able to eat but suckling is also how they comfort themselves. Every time a baby roots also does not mean they're hungry. Any time anything brushes their cheeks or lips it triggers the rooting reflex so they will automatically turn to wherever they felt the touch and will try to suckle. They will do this even when fully fed and milk drunk. This is why babies rooting or trying to suckle should never be used as the only signs of hunger. Once this baby had the pacifier in their mouth and was able to get a good latch, baby was perfectly content. Hungry babies are nor content with just a pacifier. The only reason baby kept crying was because mom repeatedly did not give baby the chance to get a good latch on the pacifier by barely even putting it in baby's mouth. When babies are first born they have to learn how to use a pacifier, specifically how to latch onto it properly and suck on it with out also pushing it out of their mouth. It's no different than how they have to learn to breastfeed or bottle feed. It can take a couple months for them to get this perfected. So many times new parents or people who aren't parents just assume the baby doesn't like the pacifier because they're constantly "spitting" it out when that's not the case. It's popping out or falling out because they lose their latch. This baby was crying out of frustration because baby wanted to suckle and mom repeatedly barely put the pacifier in baby's mouth. She kept putting just the tip of the nipple in baby's mouth and immediately letting go benign gave baby no chance at getting a good latch. Mom does this over and over until you here her make a noise like she's getting frustrated at baby and then she actually puts the pacifier the whole way in baby's mouth and holds it. Baby is able to get a good latch that time and immediately looks content and relaxed. Baby definitely wasn't hungry.

baby cries because of he is hungry or sick

Babies cry for many more reasons than just that. Crying is literally their language and how they "talk" at this stage. They cry when they're tired, when they need changed, when they want held, when they want to suckle, when they get scared or startled, etc. Sometimes they cry for no reason. They have different types of cries for all these things as well. The baby is fine and just wants to suckle which also does always mean they are hungry.

Mom wasn't giving baby the chance too even get a latch on the pacifier. When babies are first born they need to learn how you use a pacifier. They know how you suckle but they have to learn hoe to do that with out pushing the pacifier out with their tongue. You can see in this video that mom barely outs the pacifier in baby's mouth and immediately lets go of it. Baby then has to try too latch onto just the very end of the nipple which baby can't get a good latch causing it to fall out. Mom needs to out the whole nipple in the baby's mouth and hold it there for a little bit to allow baby to get a good latch and a few sucks in. Notice at the end she finally did this and baby was able to hood it in longer. Often times parents just assume their baby hates the pacifier because they constantly "spit" it out when that's not what's happening. They're just still learning how to keep it in their mouth.

She's hungry 😋
@Xessa82
@Xessa82 11 дней назад
She's not. She just wants to suckle. Babies are born with instinct and reflex to suck. Not only does it help them with feeding but it also provides comfort. This baby is not showing any signs of hunger. When they're hungry they will cry in a specific way and they will show it in their body language. They also will not be content with the binky. This is a young baby that's still learning how you use a pacifier. They need practice learning to suck on it with out pushing it out of their mouth. The problem here is that mom is not holding the pacifier in the baby's mouth long enough for her to latch onto it. She quickly and barely outs it in the baby's mouth so when baby tries to latch on, shes only latching on to the end of it causing it to pop out. Notice when she does finally hold it there longer at the end, baby is able to keep it in her mouth that time and looks completely content with it. If she was hungry, she would cry even with the pacifier in her mouth. People need to stop assuming a baby is hungry or starving when they see them sucking their fingers, rooting (also a reflex meaning they do it when not hungry) or crying when their bunny falls out.

Why is this baby being forced to take the pacifier when it is very obvious he does not want it, I don't believe in forcing a baby to take some thing he does not want and it's not like it's a matter of life or death. It seems to me that it's more for the mother to keep the baby quiet.

I think mummy should have helped him more by holding it in his mouth for him to get a proper grip instead of letting go right away. I felt sorry for him. I know he's 7 now and it doesn't matter what I think anyway. He's so adorable and mum's exasperated sigh didn't sound very compassionate.

Of course I did that :). The point was he kept on spitting it out. It was cute how he was trying to do it on his own :). As you can see after a very short while I put it in his mouth, but it seemed he just wanted to play with it :). Maybe he didn’t want it at all as he stopped using a dummy at 6m by his own choice :)
