The Baby Brown is a bait fish pattern that mimics a brown trout parr, a highly effective fly that I developed years ago.
This fly is part of the "Baby Series" of flies that consists of the Baby Speck (brooktrout parr), Baby Bow ( rainbow trout parr), Baby Bass ,Baby Smolt ( salmon smolt) and Baby Chub.
This fly works on all fresh water species that feed on baitfish. The tying pattern is basically the same, just different colors of materials is used to distinguish certain bait fish (ie. Fox Fur, Rabbitt Strip, Gills and dubbing). The realistic look and action makes this fly effective in heavily fished rivers, lakes and clear water conditions.
Hook: Mustad C52S BLN (Stinger) Size 1
Thread: Semperfli Nano Silk 6\0 white and 18\0 white
Body: Gold or Orange Ice Dubbing \
Wing: Brown mottled rabbit strip (trimmed into a taper)
Collar: Light Brown or Tan Fox Fur.
Gills: Hen partridge body feathers.
Throat: Orange and Yellow rabbit fur.
Head: Glo Bug yarn (egg color ) 3 segments
Eyes: 4mm 3D eyes (olive or gold)
