Impromptu session at the Royal Oak Pub in Edinburgh. Baby Bushka dropped in as James Stewart was hosting his Monday night session. They sang a few songs from their show. This is the best recording I got. Enjoy.
Kate is still an icon. For everyone who loves real, hand-made music.😊 I discovered her in the 80s, as I was 15 years old. I can say, I'm just a normal, German man. But she brought me to learn English. And she has part on growing this man I'm now. Thank you for all, Kate. And hopefully, I can see you on a live-performance.😊😊
It's amazing to see the love this video has gotten! Thank you John for filming this and thank you all for sharing, for your beautiful comments. Kate Bush forever
I feel so privileged to be the one to capture this moment on camera. I was there to see my pal James host his Monday night session. So sorry I missed you guys in the Voodoo Rooms last month. I would have loved to get my record signed. Work took me North. Maybe next time. Xxx
IT. IS. INCREDIBLE. to hear such an organic, beautiful rendition of this brilliant song. You are all amazing, and have not only done justice to Kate Bush, but taken her work to another place entirely. You should be so proud. x
Sincerily I watched this and I was so speechless. The cover is amazing, well done. Everybody is enjoying the moment, singin with pleasure. The smiles...the atmosphere....I felt from here in a small city in Brazil. Unbelievable how I was so impressed. I really wish I was there. You are so blessed to hear and watch a perform like that, in a warm places, friends, drink and food, good talk and happiness. It's rare nowadays. Enjoy life. Thanks for all. made my day brighter.
Raw talent. It's always that way. One looks at fashion magazines or whatever and they rave on about the "beauty" of some famous girl/woman. And you turn around and there goes a woman much more beautiful and graceful as all the models or actresses together. At the other hand I listen to some famous singers and think "Is that all what they can do?". Some have even quite nice voices, but no soul or heart. It's all technique (voice education) and those fancy microphones. And then you listen to a busker or a pub singer and it's a miracle why they are not famous.
This was amazing! I watched a lot of covers and although many are great in their own ways, this is super special. Just lovely composition, lovely voices, and beautiful singers also!
Amazing performance. I watch the video from time to time and every time I watch it my soul seems to rise. You make great honor of what Kate is as an artist. Thank you so much. I wish I could watch you on a live.
Because now the majority of artists are put together and controlled by the record companies. Kate had extraordinary talent that was allowed to grow. She even did her time on the pub circuit - The KT Band. Now they all want to win BGT and be overnight stars without any true talent or slog.
Because you’re not looking for it. Florence + the Machine has had consistently good music since they released their first album. Ionna Lee/iamamiwhoami has also had very good music for around a decade. Regina Spektor too. There’s tons of unique and musically impressive artists still. Let’s not do the whole “new music sucks” thing. There were garbage uninspired pop acts in the 80s too so it’s not like they didn’t exist then either.
@@razrv3lc we thought everything in the 80’s and 90’s was garbage. Well most everything. And in hindsight most of the stuff that came out in the 80’s and 90’s is much better than the majority of over produced garbage that comes out now. I think it’s because it’s easier to take electronic shortcuts now. There is some good stuff coming out now, I’ll give you that. Imagine Dragons and the Killers, all great stuff. But as for being unique like Kate Bush, or Peter Gabriel or a multitude of other very unique bands in the 80’s and 90’s. Most of the stuff now can be called “good” but not unique. Maybe everything’s been tried already? Or, the shortcut to being a musician now, hampers the development process to the point were uniquenesses can’t be developed?
@@razrv3lc But in 1970's 1980's and early 1990's such things were in mainstream. You turn on the radio - boom - Kate Bush, boom - Peter Gabriel, boom - Eurythmics. Nowadays you need to search for such original unique sounds concepts cause they are niche.
you can see how the comments really increased after stranger things was released, but in this case for this cover its deserved they really sang this in in their own way beautifully
So weird. I went to see this band when the came to Edinburgh and they were meant to play last weekend in Edinburgh. So I looked them up to see what they have on RU-vid and this is my local pub in Edinburgh. They are from California, so pretty odd.
This is so wonderful. It's a beautiful and unique rendition of Kate's great song. And reading other comments, it's also very sad to know that Nina the pianist died in a car accident about a year ago. Thanks for posting this. 👍🙏
"If I only could make a deal with God, I'd get him to swap our places." I don't know what Kate Bush was thinking when she wrote these lyrics, but to me, this song is about watching someone you love struggle with some terrible problem, wishing you could take on some of the burden and lighten the load. But you can't. John, I can't thank you enough for posting this. The late piano player left behind a huge volume of work, and yet this video is still one of the very best we have of her. I don't know if I am allowed to post a URL but if anyone wants to check out Nina's other work and get to know her a bit better, go to NinaLeilaniDeering.com/music The site was mostly made by Boss Bosh, who you see singing in this video next to Nina.
Absolutely amazing , thankyou for my tears of joy and huge appreciation of this singing . Kate would be proud . Rave on . One of the most beautiful things i have ever watched on RU-vid. Tears of sadness too for me now when i heard the news about Nina.
Just a fabulous performance, really made my day. Very sad to read that Nina the pianist is no longer with us, but will check out her web site: peace & love xx
Wow I'm late to the party but this Impromptu session was just joyous to watch. Considering what the world has been through the last 3 years this brought tears to my eyes. The intimacy, the song (which I love because I love Kate Bush), the joy witnessed here and seeing Baby Bushka is just incredible! I wish I had been there! I so badly want to go to Scotland!
