Do you know what kind of cowfish this is? I'm pretty sure it's either a Thornback Cowfish or a Roundbelly Cowfish, but because I don't know how to differentiate the two as juveniles
@@a6.narchy they are not venomous, but they are poisonous (like their relatives, the pufferfishes). they can even secrete poison through their skin when stressed, to dissuade a predator. however, this makes them very difficult to keep in an aquarium, as they are not immune to their own toxins (the poison just dilutes into no effect after a short time in the wild, but in an aquarium there's not enough water for it to fully dissipate, poisoning and potentially killing both the cowfish as well as any other fish in the tank. as they're poisonous and not venomous, you need to actually put the boxfish or it's slime in your mouth to get poisoned, so swimming beside one is completely safe :)
