Baby donkey rescued with gaping hole in forehead.

We got a call to rescue a young donkey who had a gaping wound on her forehead so deep that the bone was exposed. Although she was still strong when we found her, within just another day or two the maggots infesting the wound would have killed her. We brought her and her mother back to Animal Aid to begin her life-saving treatment.

How do you know? A small wound from eg. walking into a sharp branch (I've cut my head more than once on a jagged branch when working outside or even walking through woidland). Or maybe a dog bite, or jab from a cow's horn is made bigger by flesh eating maggots. It happens a lot out there. They often pick up animals with maggot infested wounds. The poor animals are being eaten alive. Flies lay their eggs in open wounds and the maggots feed off the flesh. No humans need be involved. But so many commentators assume that this is always the case.

It’s just sad, that the baby as nd her mum could not stay at animal did a d had to go back outside to the streets… The greens that they eat in the video was given to them by animal aid… That herd of donkeys are all alone and on themselves either! But this is India and I truly hope that they can live calm and in peace, without any human or predators harm and with finding real and healthy green food and not just plastic trash…🙏❤️🥹

I often wonder if all of you at Animal Aid Unlimited, India actually know how extraordinary you really are!!! I think a lot of these precious creatures would just be euthanized in other some countries or areas.
