Yes Tayari is stuck on DJ; but she is also one of the smartest and most adventurous of all the gorillas I watch. She is always scheming some kind of escape plan! Lol ❤ love her.. and yes, D’Jeeco has his hands full…

@wisebarb1987 is correct - Tamari and Iriki were sent to Taiwan from the Netherlands when they were about 10 years old and placed with D'Jeeco. Luckily they've both turned out to be excellent mothers and D'Jeeco is a great Dad. From what I've seen, it looks like Komomo is very much ready to be a Mum, but Momoka not so much. Individual personality plays a big part and Momoka has some maturing to do. One of the problems with a zoo environment is that in the wild, the females get to choose their mate (and they're picky!), whereas in a zoo they're just placed with a male and don't have a choice, unless things go terribly wrong and they have to be relocated. Another problem is that the worldwide breeding program for western lowland gorillas has been so successful that there are now too many 'single' males and not enough zoos to accommodate new troupes, so there isn't always a place for gorillas of breeding age to go, which is really sad. I often look at our favourite gorilla youngsters and wonder if they'll all get a chance to raise families of their own somewhere.😢 I really hope that they do. 🙏🤞💓💓

I don’t think Kyoto zoo gives Momotaro family enough good food and it makes them act possessive. Tokyo zoo gives them plenty of fresh vegetables so that there is no fighting. Kyoto gives kitchen scraps but mostly branches and grass. I feel bad that they don’t get fed as well as this family does.
