Had the distinct pleasure of seeing Joey in person at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley in Seattle on more than a few occasions. The last time was during his More Music release tour. After the first set, I elected to stick around for the second set to catch the whole show again. It was that good. Between sets, I bought a More Music CD (!!) and then ambled to the bar to grab a drink or three while waiting for the second set. As I did so, Joey was walking up to the bar, himself. Jazz Alley is a wonderfully intimate venue. We chatted for a spell, bought each other a drink, and then he went on to crush another set. Joey was a cut above, on multiple levels. I will forever remember and miss him.
