Baby Jumpsuit Cutting and Stitching | Trendy Baby Romper/Dungree Dress Cutting and Stitching
“Hey everyone! Welcome back to my channel! Today, we’re making an adorable baby ruffled belted jumpsuit. Perfect for any little fashionista! Let’s get started!”
Materials Needed:
• Fabric (cotton or soft blend)
• Matching thread
• Elastic band
• Scissors
• Measuring tape
• Pins
• Sewing machine
Step 1: Cutting the Fabric
1. “Measure your baby: chest, waist, hip, and length from shoulder to ankle.”
2. “Fold the fabric in half, right sides facing.”
3. “Mark the measurements on the fabric with a 1/2 inch seam allowance and cut two identical pieces.”
Step 2: Creating the Ruffles
1. “Cut two strips of fabric twice the chest measurement length and 4 inches wide.”
2. “Hem one long edge of each strip by folding 1/4 inch twice and stitching.”
3. “Gather the opposite edge with a basting stitch and pull the thread.”
Step 3: Assembling the Bodice
1. “Pin the ruffles to the top of the front and back pieces, right sides together.”
2. “Stitch the ruffles in place.”
Step 4: Sewing the Jumpsuit
1. “Pin and sew the front and back pieces together along the sides and inner leg seams, right sides together.”
2. “Finish the raw edges with a zigzag stitch or serger.”
Step 5: Adding Elastic
1. “Cut an elastic band to fit the waist.”
2. “Create a casing at the waist by folding the fabric over the elastic and stitching, leaving a small opening.”
3. “Insert the elastic, stitch the ends, and close the opening.”
Step 6: Making the Belt
1. “Cut a strip of fabric 3 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the waist and tie a bow.”
2. “Fold it lengthwise, right sides together, and sew along the edge, leaving a small opening.”
3. “Turn it right side out, press, and stitch the opening closed.”
Step 7: Finishing Touches
1. “Hem the leg openings by folding up 1/4 inch twice and stitching.”
2. “Attach snaps or buttons at the crotch for easy diaper changes.”
