New subbie and a pediatrician here. I really love how well researched and accurate your videos are, and how you link credible resources for your audience below.
Jadelightsword was it hard to become a pediatrician? That’s my dream career but I already have a baby, so I don’t know if I should even try pursuing it because it seems like too much to handle with a child as well :/
@@scraps_4500 You should pursue your dreams! It is definitely hard, you need 4 yrs of med school (assuming you've already met premed requirements in college, but if not, you may need a post bac program), and 3 yrs of residency. It is a lot of financial and time investment (avg 200k debt and 7 yrs training in the case of pediatrics). I don't have kids myself (yet) because of that, but I have had classmates who had babies in med school or residency. They had lots of family support to make that work. Other options to look into are PA school or pediatric NP. The training is shorter and less expensive, but you also make less at the other end of it, and I would argue the way of thinking is different. But the day to day work is very similar, so that's another route to consider. Depending on what state you live in though (assuming you live in USA here....), the laws that govern mid-levels are also different, so that's another factor to look into. Good luck!
How’s being a pediatrician going?!? My sister is a senior and really wants to be a pediatrician she is a bit overwhelmed with how long it will take to complete schooling I believe it’s 7 years? And also the debt part...
@@masonsadventures1692 yes, it's 4 years of med school and 3 years of residency. And then a fellowship if you want to subspecialize, which I didn't. And then I do have 6 figure debt.....but I'm on track to pay it off within 5 years, I love the content of my job, and it's nice to have a network of physician friends for life things that happen, you know? The only complaint I have about my actual job is that our healthcare system is pretty messed up and frustrating to deal with. Good luck to your sister!
Jadelightsword you get paid during residency? Yeah our healthcare system is not the best at all... hopefully it gets better soon! So even though u did rack that 6 figure debt .... it’s easy with your salary to pay that down fairly quickly but also live comfortably?
Williams first BLW will be 🥑avocado🥑! We are so excited! In 13 more days he will get to explore and experience food. We also got those cups and it will be interesting to see how he drinks from the cup. Thanks so much for all the great material! You have made this next steep so much more easier for us. @jessaleefiegen
What should when teeth happen? My baby has 8 teeth at 10 months, and pull-tears huge chunks then swallows. We had to go back to purees (which we started to do first for allergy recommendations from doctors).
I completely agree 👍🏾 😊.. Thank you 😙 so much for this video... Had to go through a lot of useless videos to stumble on yours. I really hoping my baby likes some of these suggestions... She's so picky
I’m not a mother yet, but I absolutely love watching you videos!!!!! I find your videos so educational and I’m now definitely going to have a similar parenting style to yours!!
What I love about your videos: they are super informative and you go straight to the point. Many other RU-vidrs blab a lot and provide little useful information. Your videos are absolutely the best, especially for busy moms 😊
Even though I’m still in school and don’t even know if I want to have kids, I know that if I did I would raise them montessori style. I love children with independence and I can’t see any negatives to this style.
I simply love you! No, seriously. So grateful for this channel, God bless you and your family for your patience and hard work in sharing your knowledge in the best way. Discovering your channel has had an impact on me as a new mum and also on my 5 months old and hopefully future children. Started reading the first book about Montessori that you've shared and wow. Thanks for everything ❤️ Proud of you, your girls are so lucky to have you as a mum. Much love and respect from one busy parent, to another ❤️
Hi. This is such a helpful video. My son will be 1 yo next week. I want to start blw now and till now we’ve done spoon feeding (not necessarily purées, but family food mashed and fed with a spoon). Is it possible to do blw at this age? If yes, how to go about it? Could you share any tips regarding the same? Thank you.
I'm so excited to try baby led weaning with my second daughter. My first daughter loved avocado so I will definitely have her First food be Avocado! Loved the technique you showed with the peel! We would definitely love love the book! My Instagram handle is @karolinaolson
Im so confused about how a whole slice of toast and a whole meatball are not choking hazards 😩 can you offer more explanations as to why those are safe at that size
You're baby girl is too adorable! Thank you for all of your vlogs, very helpful and my baby loves all the activities you recommend. I can tell that her development has been progressing much faster since I have been following along with your videos! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your videos!
I’m a first time mom, and I can’t thank you enough for sharing your thoughts and ideas :) Your content is invaluable and I am extremely grateful that I’ve found your channel!
I don’t have kids yet, BUT you can never be too prepared and I love your vids. I definitely plan to implement Montessori values in my home. My future babies first food will probably be Bananas @jxce.lyne
I'm planning to start with avocado! just how you did :) I'm following every step you're doing, FTM and I'm so nervous about starting this process. IG:myivf2018
I’ve just started BLW in the last few weeks with my 6 month old, its going great but my baby has started choking on her avocado and bananas. Im such an anxious person im not sure how to continue without her choking. Do you have any tips?
I'm super late so I'll just comment for anyone going through a similar thing now. There is a big difference between choking and gagging. Gagging sounds and looks worse than it is. You might see things like teary eyes, coughing and spluttering noises before the food is spit up back out the mouth but it is completely safe and is actually the bodies way of preventing choking, most of the time the baby will just carry on as if nothing happened as long as you don't freak them out. Choking is where the danger comes in, it means the something is lodged in the airway and breathing is no longer possible, it is also completely silent because of this. I suggest learning about CPR from a professional source for info on how to deal with real choking.
Montessori method seems daunting, but really it’s pretty accessible! And saves some transitions that can be frustrating for babies in the long run. So cool!
I love your videos! I'm curious to know if you have any tips on storing and conserving what remains of the prepared food after a meal, so they can be used again another time. From my experience with my first baby I know that, specially in the beginning, they won't eat the whole avocado/banana or whatever we give them. Thanks!
Any untouched bits I usually just store in the refrigerator as leftovers for the next attempt. Otherwise, I just try to take the strategy of giving her very little at first, and if she eats all of it, then I can always give her more.
@@tianacookies7927 well I find that when she was 7months I'd give her strawberry twice in the week and it treated her well...And even now that she is 13months she has fruits as a snack.
Love the video! Such a handy tool you use for cutting the food! Question about the oatmeal. You say just follow the instructions on the package. On my package there are none. But when I make oatmeal for myself I use milk. I boil the milk then add the oatmeal and cook it. Animal milk is not allowed under 1? Do you use water? Breastmilk? Plant-based milk?
Thank you for these videos! I have honestly been scared to death of feeding my baby (7 months) solids that aren't purees. I'm really trying to head into that direction..but the thought of her choking seriously gives me a panick attack. I always have weird questions about preparing the foods. Any tips for calming the f down?? Lol
My baby is still cookin’ but I think I would start with an Avocado so I could use the other half to make some guacamole for myself 😂. My insta is datsmittylife. 😊
Hi Ashley! I wish I found your channel when my baby was even younger. She is a 13 month old now and hopefully she will be interested in using utensils soon. Her first food was avocado, while she liked it then. It doesn't seem like she likes it anymore. My instagram handle is lvtuotuo~
Hi there 🙋🏻♀️ my first baby is gonna be 5 months and I plan to follow your online schedule with your oldest daughter 🤗 I created an IG after watching this video 😂 @la.laaah Hope I win!!!
Thank you so much for this video Ashley! I’m feeling much more confident now about how to prepare food for BLW. Especially when you explain why finger size food is a great idea 😅. Hope all well with your family and your girls 😀
Best! Absolutely the best video about baby led weaning. Makes great sense. My baby is 7 month in a few days. Wish I had seen it earlier. But never too late I guess. Thank you so much. Now moving onto the next video 😄
Thanks a lot that i found your channel!! Our babies the same age. So we can follow you and your baby Mia🤗🤩 keep going. Waiting more videos about baby led weaning series
This has been so helpful, my daughter was sick for a short time and regressed with eating. At one point she wouldn’t eat anything. Right now she is still picking at things and almost 1. So baby led is helping to catch her back up to eating again. First food - banana IG - Shay1119
You are AMAZING! So informative and you explain things so well. And you have SUCH CUTE STUFF like the crinkle cutter. Wow wow wow. And the tiny glass cup from your other video! I love the recipes and the information in the links. Thank you!!
Just wanna say a huge thank you to you Ashley! The banana with the stem was such a genius idea! Cz when I tried giving my baby the banana without it it was a total failure. But now he can hold very tightly onto the banana and he enjoys it so much! (Although he licks on the banana peel for majority of the time)😂
I love love love this video! So informative and helps me feel more confident in what I can feed my baby girl. I love the baby weaning approach to foods. We tried avacado for the very first time a few days ago and I think today we will try a banana. Thank you so much.
I loved this video! My lil is 6 months on Tuesday and we've started our food journey. I just bought a crinkle cutter on amazon because of this video, great idea!
We're going between Purees and baby led weaning! My little guy just turned 8mo today so we're doing more BLW than purees. His first food was sweet potato puree and it's still one of his favorites! Insta: monicabge
Your videos are chock full of information, which is awesome. You've cut out all the silence between sentences to maximize your content density, I get that. I also get that on RU-vid there's pause and rewind so it's not like we have to take notes or memorize information in real time. However I think you can use silence in an effective way to make the viewing/listening experience a little easier. Just a small suggestion. Keep up the great work!
I’m so glad I found your channel. Thank you so much for this series, I really wanted to do babyled weaning with my first and I just didn’t know how to go about it. Luckily there was more to read about this with my second and we are doing well so far. Her first food was avocado and in watching your video, I could’ve done better lol! @moodyhap
Thank you so much for all your informative and also fun videos🥰 My son is 18months old now, and in our culture nobody knows about baby led weaning! Now I'm preparing for hopefully baby number two♥️ My son's first food was watery overcooked rice, and his first baby led weaning food was carrot🥕 Instagram: fluffys_mama
I love your videos! I love all the information you share. It's so good. You answered all the questions I had and then some. I know this is months after you posted the video, but just cause I wanted to share. My LO is 1 week away from turning 6 months and we started her with carrot puree with breastmilk then a few days later avocado with breastmilk. But I forgot about your videos cause I first saw them last year, so i came across them again last week. So today I gave her a banana and did great! A little messy lol, but she enjoyed it, had fun and my 5 yr and 2 yr had fun watching her learn too. Thank you for the encouragement!!
Banana was my baby’s first BLW food @elirosemusic_ Btw, I love your family vlogs, Montessori vids, and now your BLW vids. Keep it up! ❤️ Much love from FL
Great video! We are planning on starting a family and want to go the Montessori route, like my sister did. Love learning from your channel for the near future.
My baby's first food was homemade apple sauce not sugar added. I recently found your channel and I found them very interesting and informative, I've learned so much already, thanks for sharing! @erika_minter_bg
These are great! Would be great to have them numbered somehow, so I know in which order to watch them... (Maybe I just don't know where to find this info, but in the title would be great.)
The first food I gave to my son was a carrot. I started with vegetables and introduced fruits 2-3 weeks afterwards. Not eligible for the book because I am from Europe. Pitty :(
It’s my understanding that it’s not true baby led weaning unless you feed your baby the family meal, just cut into appropriate sizes & without sauces that contain salt, sugar or honey. Most blw books & resources I’ve read recommend against the one food at a time approach, that’s more of a traditional weaning method & isn’t really in line with the blw principles. From my understanding it’s only necessary if there are allergies present in the immediate family. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s my understanding.
Thank you so much for this video. We have just learned we skipped the the finger length foods. This part is SO challenging, and thank you for you guidance. I love the way you presented this. Amazing Mama
My baby's first BLW foods were similar to what others have posted (avocado, banana) but the food I put the most prep in was roasted apples with cinnamon. No sugar added. Just apples coated in melted butter and cinnamon. I thought they were delicious! Unfortunately ... my baby did not think so, lol. She was a fan of roasted acorn squash though. IG: @jeanelle.tort
My son just turned 9 months and when he was 8 months, I tried little pieces of avocado and , sweet potato but he didn’t seem to interested. So this month I’m going to try sweet potatoes again but with bigger pieces he can hold. IG: simplebeautywithrenee
Well I plan to give my baby as a first food either banana or avocado... for what you’ve said it seems to be the easiest to start with plus I love bananas and avocados so I would want my little one to share that with me since the dad hates both lol and omg I’ve learned so much with your videos! Will be following on Instagram... mine is @littlechurro 🤗
Thanks so much for sharing this with us ❤️... Your Babies are so Beautiful... My 1yr old Daughter wants to start feeding herself now this is so helpful and makes me feel more comfortable on letting feed herself now... Have a great day.
I’m a vegetarian but my husband isn’t so we’re going to offer her everything and then let her decide when she’s older. So far she’s really only had avocado, yogurt, and today brown rice 😁
thank you so much for the video, I have trying weaning with the baby and all info was not clear and made this juorney hard, but you kept it super easy and clear
I really appreciate your approach to this. So many doctors will scare moms into only giving their babies purées. We forget that they’re humans and they have tastebuds and are capable of eating too.
Hi Ashley, I am doreen from Malaysia. I would like to go for BLW as well. My baby is 6 month today. I would like to know whether your baby constipate during BLW and is that any vege which avoid constipation? Thanks for your attention :)
