Thank you for the video - I just purchases a Soprano yesterday! I have much to learn! I have down what needles to use and now I am trying to figure out what thread and bobbin thread I will need - making a call to the store which is almost 2 hour drive for me-- I could not find anything in the manual and I want to sew something TODAY - I am starting with some mug rugs. I will be checking out all of your videos on the Soprano - thanks so much for having these for us! Have a blessed day!

I use regular Gutermann for basic sewing and you can wind that onto your bobbin also.

Fantastic video! Clear, concise, great lighting and use of a solid white fabric with contrasting thread to see what you are demonstrating! Only suggestion, remove music for those of us who are a bit hearing impaired :)

When I first started you tube I thought it added to the videos and it doesnt. I think I only have music on about 20 of my very early videos and I never use it now. I should go back and refilm them all. Thanks for your comment it's very much appreciated.

Thanks for your demo. Please show us also the bottonhole , I am heaving trouble with that and do we ever need to oil this machine? This is my first Babylock machine. Thanks again.

I just got my Soprano today. Thanks for explaining the reinforcing stitch and auto cutter. I was afraid if I had them activated that it would cut the thread every time I stopped. I’m coming from a 47 year old mechanical machine to this Cadillac.

Tommy Bizzell you're going to enjoy this machine, I love it. The soprano will only cut when you hit the reverse key. I'll be doing more how too tutorials on this as there are so many features.

Hi Cassie , I bought a babylock Soprano , and I would like to know how to use a triple needle (like the twin but one more ☺️) thank you
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 2 года назад
that's interesting, this would create a cool top stitch. just doing some quick research. Place one thread in the normal horizontal position . The soprano doesn't come with a separate thread stand so you would need to purchase a vertical thread stand separate. Place a spool of bobbin then on top of that another thread with a spool cap in between. I would have to practice and show you in a video because the bobbin will have to be raised on a spool for this to work for us. Great question and video idea.

Does the auto backstitch and lockstitch shortcut button work for every stitch pattern or just 1-4? Or for example for decorative stitches does the machine automatically know to do a reinforcement lock stitch in the beginning without having to turn the auto button on?

I'm not a quilter, so the pivot wouldn't be very useful for me. I'm looking at the Brilliant, Lyric, and Soprano. Can't decide! I really think the Brilliant would be enough, but they always say to buy up if you can.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
Its completely up to you. I still think the pivot comes in useful for all sewing. You may get into quilting, you never know. The soprano is more of a quilting machine as it comes with extra quilting feet and an extension table and knee lift.
@Indydi
@Indydi 3 года назад
@@FaodailCreation Will definitely never get into quilting! I don't even like the finished products! The pivoting might be helpful going around a curve. I do use the extension table with my Brother 6000i. It helps when I'm doing masks, which are weighed down by tons of clips all around the edges. Also like a lot of the decorative stitches on the Soprano, and the knee lift seems like it would be helpful just in general sewing. Right now I'm trying to figure out whether the motors are upgraded with each step up from Brilliant to Lyric to Soprano. A dealer told me they were. I haven't been able to verify, even after calling Baby Lock, that this is actually the case.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
@@Indydi the soprano with be the most superior out of all three and the colours of the machines also give you an idea on quality. Gold is always top then silver then any other color would be entry level. So I'm assuming the motor question would be a yes. Have you also looked at the jazz, that's like an industrial sewing machine for babylock. Would be good for bag making etc and much thicker fabrics. It has basic functions forward stitch, backward and zig zag but it's meant to be a work horse. Just to throw another sewing machine option into the mix.

@@FaodailCreation , you are very welcome hon. I sure wish that I could find more on the Presto 2. This machine is perfect for me, anything more and it would be too much. This machine will make you a spoiled seamstress for sure with all the functions. I’ve been sewing on fully manual machines for so long and fighting all the issues like trying to sew denim to tailor a Jean jacket for my granddaughter and having one issue after another while trying get through 4 layers of denim, I was having to hand turn the wheel to get the needle through all the layers. My husband went out and bought this for me for Christmas, when he saw what I was dealing with. My Baby lock Presto 2 glided through that thickness like it was linen. I have been tailoring my own clothing for a very long time. I was badly burned as a child of 4, the name calling was relentless. I became very good at adding long sleeves to the hand me downs that I would get and totally re-designing clothes to look stylish, but while at the same time hiding my scars. I fell in love with sewing, not as a hobby but as a way to fit in with others. ❤️ Keep on smiling, 2020 is almost over. Let’s thank God that we made it so far.

@@rendaowe I am so very sorry with what you have had to deal with growing up and that you found sewing as a way to not only help with your clothes but as an awesome life skill to have. I'm glad you enjoy the presto, Babylock machines are wonderful aren't they. Thank you so much for leaving a comment and I hope you find at least a couple of my video helpful as you could probably teach me a thing or two.

Is the Baby Lock brand machines good for beginners? the look wonderful and easy to use. It is pricey so I'm wondering should I start with a cheaper brand sewing machine?. Thank you for your video.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 5 лет назад
That's exactly what I did when I first purchased a machine. I went for the cheaper alternative and quickly out grew that machine. I think you have a few questions to ask yourself. How often will you use it. What am I sewing, will I invest the time to learn about the machine to name but a few. I love my machine as it's intermediate level, I quilt, sew clothes and bags. Some of the key features I couldn't live without anymore. I use it everyday and have never regreted it one bit. I think you should purchase the best machine you can, at the cost you can afford.

@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
Welcome to babylock soprano ownership. It's exciting isnt it! When it comes to needles I purchased every different kind as I dont like to be caught out not having the one I need. I go with schmetz and constantly use the micro tex 90 / 14 this is good for cotton sewing. First and foremost have fun with it. If you mess up your fabric just think you get to go to the store and buy more. Lol. Go easy on yourself.

@@haleyrentz8470 I'm a very visual learner to. So I totally get that. I think you'll struggle not to find a video on how to do something on my channel. I solely use the soprano for all my sewing tutorials. I also have the tiara mid arm for my quilting projects. Any questions im pleased to answer them I'm a actual babylock educator so I can give you any answers on any machines you may look into in the future also.

My husband just surprised me with a Baby lock Soprano. I am enjoying the new features and upgrades from my previous machine. I'm really struggling with tension issues though. I have made sure I am threading everything correctly. I've made sure the bobbin is done correctly as well. I've tried different thread types and needles (schmetz and the ones it came with, along with trying different sizes). I've adjusted tension up and down and can still not get a balanced stitch. The top thread always shows up on the bottom bobbin thread side. Any suggestions?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 2 года назад
Are you threading the machine with the presser foot up and needle up? Make sure the thread is pulled through number six portion tight too.

I also have a how to thread the babylock soprano video. I think there is music on it as I used to do music on my videos. See if that helps you.

@@FaodailCreation Yes, needle up and presser foot up. And yes to number 6. I've been picking my brain as to what the deal is. I have tried different fabrics too. If I have to I will take a trip to my dealer, but it's quite a drive. I hope it's not user error. But I've read manual and been very careful and I'm not a newbie lol.

@@myrahaner942 seems strange and I bet it's something really simple. Have you turned on your fabric sensor. It's in the settings and make sure the free motion quilting mode is set to off.

My machine comes unthreaded because the automatic cutter cuts the thread too short and when the needle moves the thread pull out. Help?
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
I'll be honest I stopped using the auto threader. It has the tendency to gunk up, I suggest, getting to the bobbin area and gently cleaning the area free. You will notice that there are threads in there that need pulling free. Not sure why this happens, so I just stopped using it myself.
@FaodailCreation
@FaodailCreation 3 года назад
There's like a little arm that pulls out to cut the threads, you'll see it when you open it up. Be very careful as it is fragile
