That's how I initially understood it too. So confusing. 😁 But I guess it would make more sense like this-- her father married a fellow divorcee who had sons in the previous marriage. It could explain why one step brother is older while the other is younger.
i think the op was mistaken. the old 'half brother' is probably step brother from her stepmom previous marriage. coz if that's truly chiquita's half brother, then the only reasonable explaination is chiquita's dad marriage to her mom was the second for him and then they separated and he married for the third time.
