I really enjoyed the Graco highchair. It has adjustable heights & ours came with a little activity station that you could detach when it was time to eat. It kept them entertained while I was cooking. It worked well for both my kids. As far as books, the other great thing about simple books is now my six year old reads to her sister. They have those really sweet moments together.

As a chair mat we use Ikea's "Kolon" office chair mat, which is about 15 dollars and easy to wipe, it's a lifesaver!

My baby turned 1yr 2 weeks ago, she figured out every baby proof thing we bought about 2 months ago and either broke them all right off or just knows how to open/remove them. Luckily we have no stairs but I've just started blocking things off with furniture or things she can't move or crawl over lol. She can't open doors yet so we can contain her to certain rooms but it's hard to deal with!

For the Little Giraffe blanket, which one and which size do you have/recommend? To use it as a lovey/comforter as you do - I wonder whether the blanky size is large enough or best to go with the full size blanket? Thx

Susan we usually love your videos but a bit confused... In previous video, you recommended the Antilop. But in this video, your kids are in the Stokke and the Stokke being recommended, rather than Antilop? Also in a previous video you had got the silicon cover mat for the Antilop but in this video said you don't really need them. Is this because you have learned since then what is really essential and so we should take this video as your latest views?

My house stays at 73 and it does get cold in her room and I have a small heater just for her room. And she does use a blanket and she actually wakes up and covers herself and I watch her on the camera. Great tips though! The sleep sack wouldn’t work for my 1 year old, I did swaddle her when she was younger and if I just started to constrict her now, it would just upset her. My daughter is also double her size for her age. (She’s not over weight, she’s just a overall bigger baby) but thankfully she doesn’t try to get out the crib, she actually enjoys being in there!

I agree on the sleep sack I never use one but thinking about buying one because they have good cons that I need for mine little one but my 2yo toddler is now potty trained(he do wake his self up to use if needed)I don’t want him to pee on him self cause he can’t get out of it. Should I still buy one for him but teach him how to get in and out of one? Or would it be pointless and waste of money?
@wes9352

I agree with so many of these. Great list! Although I hate Goodnight Moon. It’s so old fashioned with so many items that don’t look like this anymore or language we don’t use. Who is eating mush? I would also add that people should read to their babies from day one, not starting at 1. Kids have better focus with books if they have been read to them from when they are born. If you read five books a day to your kid, they are exposed to a million more words than kids who are not read to. Also, word books are just ok. It’s much better to read books with simple sentences because kids get more out of it linguistically. Think Mo Willems Pigeon or Piggy and Elephant series. Also Eric Carle and even Doctor Seuss is great for toddlers. Things with emotions or rhymes help them to get the cadence of language and have been proven to increase language. Wordless books are also great because you as the parent can create the story and use language that you feel is good for your toddler. But I mean as long as a book is in front of them, I guess it doesn’t really matter.

This is a good video. I think you have a safety-oriented, but practical mind. I would revisit the 'pick a bedroom that they can be closed in' idea though. People will take you literally and lock their kids in a room unattended. This translates to some parents as they can play on their own...unfortunately.

I don't remember how I drinked the water when I was a baby but I remember when I drinked from a straw . i was a teenager. born in the 80s so I guess all sorts of cups are fine as long as they drink that liquid.

My baby is one and we still wake up at night because I breastfeed and it's not a problem because he's not crying or upset he drinks and sleeps again, also we don't use a noise machine and we watch TV at night it does not bother him, he's used to noise, also we don't use black out curtains and he sleeps fine. Sleep sack is a good idea because my baby does try to climb out of his crib.

High chair - No thanks. I use the montessori method so I use a weaning table. It is a table and chair with armrests (for weaning so thyat they don't fall of ) and they can get in and out of it themselves. I have a sprout weaning table and chair. You can even use a floor table
