I’m with you Elle I don’t care who uses the same baby names as me! I’m not the first person to use my babies name and I certainly won’t be the last. I won’t gatekeep a name but that’s just me!!
It would bother me if it was a very close friend. If it was just like a friend in one of our friend groups or someone I don't see super often, it wouldn't bother me. Just like if it's a cousin's child it wouldn't bother me. But it would if it was a sibling's child.
At least she's honest and says what she means, that's the type of friend I would like to have a round. Imagine she said it didnt bither her but it secretly did, you would feel awful if you ever found out.
my grandmother's name is dafni (spelled the original way, not transliterated) and ive always wanted to name my child after her so im getting nervous at how popular it is getting!! it truly is very pretty.
I feel like you may have picked Arthur!? :) Congratulations again Elle! Been following your entire journey and am so proud and happy for you. I'm also pregnant with my second (second girl!) as well and due in early Summer. Wishing you all the blessings :)
Hey that’s my name!! :) As far as the association with Princess Di, that’s actually been helpful. For some reason, people had the hardest time getting my name right when I was growing up. I got Diane a lot, which… it’s just not my name. I like the a the end. Also, I got called Deanna for a while by one friend who had known a Deanna in high school and couldn’t get his brain to switch. So when people would get it wrong I’d say, “like Princess Diana,” and that usually did the trick.
I just have to say I love that I used to watch your videos back when I was in college. Now here we are, naming babies! My husband and I have a baby named Peyton and I’ve been working on my list for baby #2. Best of luck with your pregnancy and delivery! 💖
My nephew is called Wesley and I think it’s super cute but he is bright ginger and I fear that he’s so going to be nicknamed Weasley as he grows 🤦♀️ I hope he owns it and dresses up as Ron Weasley every Halloween 😂
You said it! I remember when my son was born it felt so strange that we got to just decide his name and start calling him that 😆 it felt SO strange for a while!
I'm with you as well. My sister named their second baby she miscarried Eden, which has always been one of my favorite names. When she told me that's what they named their baby, I was only 6 weeks pregnant, so I'm with you- I wouldn't feel right about using the same name as a loved one, especially considering the circumstances.
Ahhh so happy to see another video from you! I have loved your videos since 2012! Your videos are always amazing! You are truly one of the most unproblematic creators out there! ❤️ So happy you are having another baby! Congrats Elle! Can’t wait to see what his name is!
I can’t imagine being so rude to say to a friend that you don’t want them sharing the name of their child. It’s really not a big deal unless you can’t learn to share😅 If anything it’s such a compliment that they want the same name!
Meh, I would be annoyed and would never pick a name that anyone at all close to us had chosen first. I think Elle is exactly right to ask. Some people are not at all bothered, some are a lot.
@@lieska333 Yes she was very polite to ask. Friends come and go and she may not even see them that often so if it’s a name they loved then I don’t see the problem.
This is like the 3rd time I’ve heard someone say they love the name Wesley from Princess Bride and I’m like…but his name is Westley 🤦🏻♀️ I know it sounds the same but it’s not 😂 super cute though.
Hi Elle! I love hearing about baby names. My baby boy's name is Sutton and it took so long for us to decide on it. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and picking out a name. ❤
I was thinking the same thing lol! She definitely had a pug and had to rehome it, I just don’t remember if the name was actually Lucy or something different
I wanted Halston for my middle boy (Halston is a very luxe fashion brand, he’s dressed the best!) but his dad wasn’t on board. We went with Hudson for other reasons and I still love both names so much!!! I tried again with my youngest son 🤣
I’m a couple weeks ahead of you and I instantly knew as soon as it was a boy during the ultra sound that we would name our boy Phillip Victor. I couldn’t imagine him being called anything else.
I named my son Darien. Some people wondered if I got it from Sailormoon(Tuxedo mask) but I just thought it was a strong name. We called him Deedee as a cute nickname. I also have a daughter, we named her Brynleigh.
My cousin's baby is named Bennett, but for their daughter. I had never heard that name for either sex. Alice is one of my favorite girl names ever, but i could never use it because my husband's cousin would lose it if we used it since she named her daughter Alice.
Boy names are so hard for me and my hubs! It took us until like 37 weeks pregnant to decide on Garrett for my 1st son. And now at 19 weeks with 2nd son we might have a name? But it may change? Ezra. Our oldest child is a daughter named Avery. And her name was so easy like basically before she was conceived we knew her name. Solidarity to all the parents riding the name struggle bus!!
Halston is pretty hard to pronounce for non-native English speakers too. I think it's something to think about when picking a baby name because most people are bound to travel and maybe even live abroad, and it's such a pain when people can't pronounce your name easily or at all.
I’m pregnant with my 2nd and if it’s a boy I may have to use Theodore!! We have a girl name but I find boy names to be SO hard! We had the hardest time naming our little boy.
I absolutely LOVED the name Theodore for my last child. My husband hated it. I tried to convince him that Theo or Teddy for a little boy would be adorable. But he didn’t budge. So we named him Benjamin after my grandfather and call him Benny or Benji for a nickname. However, when Ben was 2 or 3 months old, my husband had the audacity to tell me that he sees the appeal of the name Theodore now. He actually suggested that we change his middle name to Theodore. If looks could kill at that moment, he wouldn’t of survived. Lol
I’m pregnant and due in May! I’m naming her Faye! My sons name is Rory which is very Irish so I thought it was a crazy coincidence how you mentioned your relative named Faye was Irish!
I definitely think you gotta stop discussing the names with everyone else and just care whether you and Alex love it. We aren’t discussing names at all for this baby (baby #4), and with our others we told them the name and that was that. They had/have a chance to name their own kids lol. Our oldest is Oliver and I literally had never met an Oliver before him. Even the nurses mentioned they never heard it. Now it’s sooo popular lol.
If you like how Louis is pronounced in Europe, you could spell it Louie (but I also agree that it kind of doesn’t age with the baby), but still super cute!
I love Beaumont! I have two names that my family keeps squashing down when i bring them up and I ALWAYS bring up just to see if they've changed their minds and they don't budge. Winifred & Kaliope. I have put Kaliope to bed but idc about Winifred I love it so much I will use it, everyone will have to live with it.
I have two favourite boy names currently. My number one is Alfred. There was a comic series I lived as a kid where the main character was called Alfred J. Quack and I’ve loved the name ever since. The two meanings I could find are “king of the elves” and “peace everywhere”. Also, I love the nickname Freddie. You mentioned that you consider the middle name Scott, after your father. Alfred Scott Goot sounds great, I think. The only downside could be that James and Alfred together could sound too much like two butler names in several movies. I still love the combo though! Another name I love is Gustav. It works well with my real last name, cause it also starts with a G. I’m English the nickname Gus is also cute. But since I’m from Germany I would then only use the long version. Gustav Goot sounds badass, I think! :D I’m excited to get to know your pick soon. All the best from Berlin
I love older girl names as well, my daughters are Elizabeth (Ellie) and Amelia (Mia). My mom’s name was Elizabeth and she has sisters named Diana, Annette, and Julie. I guess I'm not the only one in the family who likes older girl names. 🤍
My daughters name is Amelia too. We call her Meli because her great grandmother on husband side was Amelia and she went by Meli. My hubby was very attached to his grandma. And it fit her perfectly.
We grew up with with a guy with the last name Campbell and to be honest with you I had to think really, really hard about what his first name actually was because everyone just called him soup. And I personally love the girl names Isla and Esmé
As a Canadian, I agree with the Louis problems for Americans. The French pronunciation is definitely better (I am definitely biased!) We spell the American pronunciation Lewis up here.
It definitely would depend on the situation for me. If it was a name of a child of mine that passed away then I wouldn't like it if someone close to me used it but otherwise I am fine with people using the same name. My top baby names for girls are: Lydia, (Runner up for next baby) Alison, Myfinwey and Addison
Hi. My name is Stephanie , Steph for short . I know I am just a nobody here in the comments , but I definitely would want to maybe be friends. If not I understand . I hope you know you are amazing no matter what anyone else says and you have a purpose in life 💗 Stay beautiful and know that you are worthy always . Hope you have a Happy New Year . And I’m in Michigan too . I am about 20 minutes away from a Beaumont
I have no kids and no plan to have any but I’m still watching 😂😂 I have a golden doodle named Louis and it’s the best puppy name! Congratulations Elle lots of love from Canada 🇨🇦
Omg! Ophelia is my fave girl name and what I want to name my future daughter. I’m so thrilled you had it on your list. Unfortunately my bf hates it because of a funny yet disturbing and inappropriate reason I won’t relay on here lol. I actually love O names for some reason. Like Odette is another one. And I like O in names, like Poppy. Used to love Charlotte but it’s just too popular for my liking.
As the youngest of 4 I kind of resent the idea that the *favorite* names are used first and subsequent kids get the leftovers 😂 I know what you’re trying to say but I think each time around there are unique choices.
Idk I think it’s weird that people feel they own a name like I couldn’t tell someone they can’t name their child the same name as my child there is no such thing as a name that no one else has unless you just completely make it up and maybe even then someone else in the world probably did the same
How did you decide on the more common names for your boys? I swear I don't mean that any type of way, I just truly thought your names would be a little more uncommon or literature-y, ya know? Like the ones in this video! Is there history behind their names? I just love names and am so curious! 💖
I’m confused about the 1 syllable thing.. james is one syllable.. I don’t mean this harshly I’m just curious if you decided after you gave james a one syllable that you didn’t love how it was flowing
