This is me petitioning for Stephen to talk about all his thoughts about baby stuff since he mentioned wishing men would talk about it more!!!! You both are such sweet parents
second this !! would love to hear about this or anything else he has to say about his experience as a dad so far :) it’d be super interesting to hear about his experience as a guy in tech taking parental leave like what attitudes his co-workers and stuff have had (i also work in a STEM field and i’ve seen some weird attitudes about taking time off work for a kid and need Stephen’s opinion as our unproblematic king of the dads) ❤️
I actually watched dad baby product recommendation videos when I was pregnant bc they were less concerned with how things looked and more concerned with how useful they were for the price
I agree, I second this!! I am preparing to get pregnant in the next few months and it would be really helpful for my partner to hear a guys perspective
i love that Stephen came to give his opinion about the items too! I think it helps people learn what works for both parents or just dads, since a lot of people/companies think dads only hold their babies while moms do all things involving baby stuff.
It’s really nice Stephen was including in this, often times the fathers get left out of these things almost as if their opinion doesn’t matter but that’s not true and I love that he wanted to share his opinion as well!!
As a disabled woman that would like to become a parent in the future, I thought this was interesting and helpful. It made me think about products that may help me manage pain and fatigue due to their accessible design. The snoo and the mamaroo would help me a lot . You're such a lovely couple and Grace is lucky to have you as her parents.
I am disabled as well and had my second baby after diagnosis. I don't have alot of money so couldn't afford the fancy stuff but the thing that helped me the most was the car seat that goes right into the stroller! I can't lift much so it was so much easier than having to lug a car seat around! I'd definitely get one of those when the time comes for you!!
This is my official input: let Stephen do a "dad's crash course: all things baby" podcast and let him chat about it, and take the stigma out of dad's talking about baby products
Please vote for more reviews by Stephen! Loved his ratings for everything and all the functional advice. Not even close to being a parent but LOOOOOVE this video!
I will say the stroller I got one that is essentially the same thing by Evenflo stroller, it came with a carpet, bassinet and the stroller and it was like 250 at Walmart so if you want the same thing but can afford the 1000 for the one they have its a great option!
I also have the even flow but never cared about a bassinet so I have the one that’s just a stroller and lays flat for 70 and when it comes to a car seat the convertible kind is the way to go cause it’s the only car seat they’ll ever need.
Just want to say I'm grateful for the amount of uploads lately, your videos always help to calm my anxiety for some reason, no matter what they're about. Must be your beautiful spirit that has healing power ☺️
I got a bottle warmer and we don’t use it. It’s faster to just boil some water on the stove and stick it in that. Never really used the boppy as a breast feeding pillow, but we use it a lot now to help support him when he sits
I love my boppy. Most of these videos I have watched people say the boppy wasn’t worth the money but I used it literally every day until my daughter was 2. Now I’m using it for my baby boy. After you’re done having babies it makes a great road trip pillow for adult passengers trying to get comfy for a nap, lol. It’s definitely my #1 most used baby item.
OK, I just have to laugh... because my "baby" is over 30 now. His cradle was set up right beside my bed, and when he would start to stir, I would rock it with my foot.😂So, that was my version of the Snoo. It's amazing what they have for babies now! My favorite was the old fashioned swing that we would wind up. He LOVED this!
I had a baby a few months ago and my mom could not stop laughing at all the new gadgets they have for babies these days. She said " back in my day we just suffered "😂
My "baby" is also over 30 and his favorite as a infant was his hand me down baby swing. He slept in a drawer set up beside my bed until he was ready for his crib ( got that suggestion from my grandmother).
I work in an animal shelter and....please don’t! They are a nightmare to wash and animals soil them all the time and they also tear them apart so they get thrown out. It actually creates a lot of extra waste for us having to dispose of them and local authorities charge a tone for waste management. Being inundated with stuff like this is honestly a nightmare for us.
If people would focus on functionality of baby products instead of aesthetic, then you would realize how much cheaper it is to raise a child. You don't need all of the fancy expensive top of the line products, it's pointless.
Exactly! A play mat of 100+ dollars. I used a throw blanket that I already had. Ppl buy into the hype and they also want the designer stuff to show for status. Like if you have the best stuff than you must be a great parent. Stuff and being a good parent do not go hand in hand. But marketing teams want you to believe that they do. So having these videos are good to have.
The most expensive thing about babies are diapers definitely and clothes(even if you buy used) but the clothes to be honest is because they grow out of clothes so fast
Agree 💯%! I used a swing, bouncy chair and rock n play for them to sleep in, until they went into the crib. I was gifted a play mat, but my kids out grew it fast. There is no way I would ever pay $100 for a play mat. Besides, your baby will NEVER remember the toys/activities they used.
As a caregiver I loved the Boppy, we put the infants in them to slightly prop them off, and we would use it to help give an extra support during tummy time. We also loved using it to help with an extra support/cushion for learning to sit.
Stephen giving his ratings was so great! I love his honesty! He was so cute and super helpful! So fun to watch him love being a Daddy. I do not have any more babies and enjoyed this almost more than your main channel video?.. ♡
I have the evenflo 3 in 1 stroller set and love it!! I would say it’s definitely comparable to the one you have but it’s one third of the price and it comes with a car seat that attaches to the stroller. It also has a regular stroller seat attachment that converts to a bassinet. It is amazing and great quality. We used it all over theme parks, pumpkin patches, walks etc and no complaints
I loved that this had both of your opinions/views in it! A lot of these I see are just from the moms perspective and it is nice to hear from a dads perspective too!
Omg.I’m having serious sticker shock on this review (and I have 2 kids 1&4)… $134 for a playmat?? $250 for a swing? $70 for a glorified garbage can? I’m all for quality and tech but not at that price! I know you work hard and want the best for your kiddo but I hope your viewers know you don’t have to spend top dollar to achieve the same… Your hair looks great!!
I just don't understand who can relate to this but I enjoy watching because it let's me feel as if this is something I could consider at some.point lol so maybe others are the same?
I feel the same way! I have 3 kids 3 and under so they could have hand me downs but still! I’ve never even heard of most of these!😂😬 it is interesting though! $200 for a bouncer got me😅
@@retrobydestiny1030 Agreed! I would just invest in a stroller or carseat. Everything else is unnecessary, and throwing diapers away should always be changed/thrown out in the garbage after a big blowout don't need a fancy trash can. Just buy one from Walmart.
Agree or even owning all those things also yeah I don’t get special trash cans for diapers I just throw mine away in my regular trash can it doesn’t stink up my house I take the trash out ever day or other day.
gotta tell you my favorite part of my weeks recently have been cozying up and snacking in my room catching up on whatever new vlogs i missed bc of work earlier in the week. oddly comforting, like checking up on old friends 💓
You guys are the sweetest couple! Thanks for doing this together. It's great to see dad's included in sharing their likes and dislikes for baby care. Single dads out there need the support :D
I had a 30 dollar bouncer and my daughter loved it. She also didn't use it for long enough to justify spending 200 lol so I'm glad we used a super simple inexpensive one.
Firstly, I think it’s awesome that Stephen has thought about these things critically too. That’s such a great thing for a dad! Secondly, I know everyone is going to have different opinions on baby things, but I’m such a huge fan of the Boppy pillow. It’s great for helping with tummy time for kids with reflux and torticollis. It’s also how I nurse my babies and helps me with posture. Maybe because I’m tall, but I need the baby brought closer to me and just holding her there hurts my arms.
I love my milk snob cover. I had my daughter last November. It was perfect for shopping and the winter. I felt like she was covered in her own “face mask” people kept their distance from me and it kept her safe from the northern winter winds. I think it depends on how you use it and what Time of year. And I’m sad you rated the boppy pillow so low. Love boppy pillows! They’re so versatile. I insisted on having two and I dont regret it lol
I love how different every parent and caregiver have reacted to their list! I don’t think we’ve used any of the stuff in your list! Except a breast pump. Used a stiff body pillow to nurse each of my kids. No covers, we all overheat too easily. None of them ever took a bottle, so not bottles or warmer. They nursed or when they were old enough took a regular little cup of BM. No sippy cups either. We didn’t bother with a stroller of any form, used an Ergo carrier for everything. No bouncers, no swings, no playmates at all. Just a thick blanket on our hardwood floors and a body length mirror to look at themselves. No bassinets or playpens. We did just the mattress on the floor. No changing pads or diaper pails either. We cloth diapered so we have a few a travel size wet bags and a couple of large hanging ones for at a home. Same diapers for all three kids from birth to potty training too. But you know what, I see the value and use for each of these items and still enjoy seeing how other parents enjoy them! Plus I adore your little family so much 💜💜💜
I used the Boppy for every breastfeed for the entire 11 months I nursed my son. As a woman with larger breasts, I found it really difficult to nurse while just holding him and the Boppy helped me position him and myself. I loved it!
This is cute!!!! I love how sweet you are to each other🤍🤍 and it great that Stephen is advocating for it to be more normal for men to talk about baby products as well! Good for you guys😍😍
I didn’t breast feed my son, and the my brest friend is still my most recommended baby item! It gave my back so much support even just holding him, and it was great for guests!! My sister is plus size and it fit around her beautifully 🤗🤗
Hi! I love your channel(s)! The Boppy was recently recalled because newborns have suffocated when left unattended. I love the Boppy but thought it would be important to share about the recall-so grateful for your channel and content! Love you!
I would love to Stephen go more in-depth into all things baby! It's been so fun seeing your input on everything, and it would be interesting to get Stephen's side as well
Love this! Idk if you’ve seen this too but for warming milk, at the daycare I worked at we weren’t allowed to use bottle warmers so we warmed the milk in the storage bag under warm water. It worked so fast and was a lot easier to control the heat. That’s what I do now with my little one. Also I love the diaper pail as well! Amazon has sales on different patterns every once and a while so keep an eye out for that. I got mine for 40$!
I just want to tell you I LOVE your channel, I get so many ideas for my 24 year old daughter. I wanted to pop on here and tell you that I LOVE you with natural make-up. You have natural beauty and don't need much make-up at all. I ordered my daughter that bralet in green, can't wait until it comes in!
Thought it was cute how at the end it was pointed out how excited Steve gets about these products. I’m not even pregnant yet though we’re going to start trying soon and he’s already excited to learn more about baby products and picking out stuff. Though I think there’s some degree of overlay in his interest for tech and the baby product market.
I’m 11 weeks pregnant with my first and I’m so happy you are doing these videos. I’m going to look into the stroller, especially if it doubles as a bassinet. My mom but me in a dresser drawer when I was born, so I know it’s not necessary to have something fancy, but I’m intrigued!
Any thoughts on your baby monitor? I’ve seen it in the background and I’m pretty sure ya’ll have a Nanit, surprised it wasn’t included here because I’m curious if you’ve use the breathing tracking functionality
Great advice. One thing I used the nippy for that y’all haven’t gotten to this stage yet but it can be useful for support when the baby starts sitting up on their own.
Stephen, I want a re-rate on the boppy pillow 😅 We actually used ours for so much more! It can be great for play time helping to get them into new positions such as kneeling or crawling. Not to mention as a support when they are starting to sit on their own but not fully stable. Highly recommend giving it a second try. Our little girl used it very regularly for the first 6 to 7 months of life.
My youngest is 15 now. I had a boppy pillow (the original one) with all 3 babies & it was very helpful for many things at different stages including breastfeeding, baby lounging, baby bottle feeding themselves in a propped up angle & when they first started sitting up for support! 10/10 totally recommend & doesn't break the bank! I admit I never tried another type of breastfeeding pillow even though as years went by there were more options. I just saw it as, if it's not broke don't fix it. Thanks for doing this for expectant/new parents. I wish RU-vid was a thing before I had kids. It would've been very helpful!
Stephen, you’re helping to normalize guys talking about baby feeding and being a fantastic example of an involved father. So great to see! My “baby” is almost 16 now, but I am loving your parenting blogs. Thank you for sharing your journey.
My way to warm breast milk was to nuke water in the microwave as then place the bottle in the hot water. Same effect, $0 cost and $0 waste (of a product I gave to get rid of post bottle feeding age)
Omg I loved this video so much! Love hearing both of your perspectives on the baby items! I want to play this with my husband just by ourselves for our own entertainment 😂 my son is 3 now. My favorite baby item I would rate 10/10 would be our Hatch baby rest night light/sound machine! We’ve used it since day 1 and still do! 🤍
I watched all your pregnancy videos last year and I just found out September 5th I am pregnant! Rewatching all your videos and postpartum content makes me feel less anxious ❤️
I’m 2 weeks away from my first baby being born and this was the perfect video for my husband and I to watch!! I loved hearing Sierra’s reviews as a mom and my husband loved Stephen’s reviews from the dad’s point of view!
I think my Brest friend was 1000000/10!! I tried the boppy and hated it. I only used MBF for the first couple months but it made those middle of the night and constant cluster feeds soooo much more bearable
I wish I could have bought the hatch grow. I just had my first baby and I had no idea how stressful breastfeeding would be. He ended up losing too much weight by his first appointment because I wasn’t producing enough that we had to use a syringe and feeding tube to supplement as he breastfed. It was incredibly stressful and taking him to the doctor to get weight checkups every few days. Having something at home would have eased our minds so much! Next baby I think it will be a must for me!
I agree the Boppy was great for when people held my baby. We did try a regular pillow and it just wasn't as good. The Boppy is also great for later when baby starts sitting up but needs a little support still. My first 2 babies I used it all the time.
You should totally look into the car seat canopy. It Velcro’s on to the handle on their car seat and can flip up and down like a blanket so it’s easy, it has a thicker outer material but is still soft on the inside. You never drop or forget it because it stays on the seat and is honestly super convenient.
when my son was in daycare she would use a crockpot with water for bottle warming . my son didn't like the comotomo nipple so we used Boon which have a similar silcone and similar shape but adaptable for sippy cup for older. Seriously some stuff the first time is hit or miss and every kid is different so what works for one might not for the next!
Love your videos! I am a professional nanny, the boppy pillow you will probably use a lot more when Grace is learning to sit up! That’s what I mostly use it for. But also just any pillow behind her will do lol
I'm very newly pregnant and have mo idea what to get so this was pretty helpful and made me re think getting the boppy and what bouncer to get etc:) yall are cute too!
For anyone reading this…if you have a boppy lounger that has been recalled, please consider donating it to your local animal shelter! Great video y’all!
