Baby Reindeer, Netflix's hit series, is based on Richard Gadd's actual experiences. We spoke to Nava Mau, who plays Donny's girlfriend Teri, about whether there's added pressure when your character is based on a real person.
This! I was just mesmerized by her exotic beauty and her down to earth character. I didn’t realize she was trans until the 5th or 6th episode. She was just a woman who happened to be smart and beautiful, not some over the top caricature. ❤
I was ambivalent about this character at first, but I came to really appreciate her loyalty and integrity. I was heartened to see her stepping out with someone new when she had enough of the drama. 🎭
She did such a great job, I just kept thinking, "gawd I really hope they casted a trans women, please let her be a trans woman." Glad to find out that she is.
I'm so happy they told a story of how helpful she was to him, she filled so many needs and that's apparent. Watching the series, I feared after the attack on her, they were done she was gone and he'd be lost again, such a relief to learn she was more resilient than we all knew.
My wife and I couldn’t make it to the end of this series, the stalker stuff was too close to the bone. Try telling the Scottish police you have a stalker, especially when it’s an ex cop. They’ll ridicule you and dismiss you. They tell you to install cameras then refuse to come and look at the footage.
Yeah stalkers are crazy as shit. My son’s mom dated a guy who ended up going crazy. But fortunately the police actually cared. He got 25 years for trying to get her killed. It was weird how delusional and obsessed he was.
I believe the 41,000 emails, I had a stalker like that, she created more than 50 facebooks accounts, a lot of emails, contacted all my friends, and family members, even the police to look for me 😂
Yes, it was refreshing to see a trans woman portrayed as a “normal” person, & not one of these ranting, completely insane men on social media, demanding that we change everything for them. Great character.
I really thought she wasn’t trans at first and was surprised Netflix didn’t hire an trans actress. Then the voice got me questioning and I think I saw an Adam’s Apple during a scene and I had to Google the real actress
You're gonna be in for a shock when you realise most trans people don't have features to pick out from. Might be better not to try and make someone insecure
@@NdiimanaeRabuli Technically she thinks shes a she, but everyone else who understands biology has the right to call them a he. Sadly, it's reality. Some people see only biology. Some only wanna project their feelings. To accept trans people, they need to also accept others beliefs as well.
Says the guy who has baby metal as his profile picture here, watching grown ass women dress up as kids, performing music they haven't wrote, can't even play instruments and just autotune sing. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror bro
In thailand, we just say Ladyboy, and everyone is happy with that. Teri (Nava Mau) is not really a woman, but although a biological man is not really a man in the true sense either. Thais just keep it simple and calm : Ladyboy, there you go. Peace.
