Aye, I love this man energy. His love for 40s feel like 2007-2008 Cam’ron with Dipset shooting in Harlem. I feel like giving opportunity back to the hood in positivity is a step in right direction and proper merits for a big homie; a big brother. Grassroot love for the soil, for the land.. doing right by the youth but showing pride in your neighborhood when the world say opposite. The politics of the criminality aside, I feel like unity would be a return back to revolutionary shit from 50s - 60s.
I remember meeting him when we did Why We Bang and talking to him, I was surprised by his story of coming to the hood and demanding to be put on, some wild shit, but I was even more surprised at how smart this kid was. I bet he’s like a genius and shit. A lot of nights banging like maniacs are highly intelligent black man and for some reason that find their passion in banging. Not a fan of gangs but this society don’t leave much for young strong and driven black men to take hold of and call theirs. So I get it. I just wish we had other avenues for this power and talent, as is its wasted and its self defeating. Non matter how glamorous it seems to some we are destroying young lives and devastating families while our true enemies sit and watch and wait to scrape our bodies off the cement or lock us the fuck up.
