Ya, never would I be touching one like in the link like that, absolute mad lads. You see how fast they strike? Hell naa, say goodbye to your finger if tortalini is in a bad mood that day. Keeping it as a pet is fine as long as your not treating it as a dog/cat and you got the space - I've known people that have had small ones. They get pretty big though, them snapping turtles, and I imagine would be difficult to handle when they grow in size.
Dragonfly larvae (although creepy to some) are actually really fun to keep as pets, especially the species known as Darner dragonflies. They eat things like Bloodworms, Mosquito larvae and small fish, and all you need is a small tank with some rocks and stuff and a stick that reaches above the tank so the dragonfly has something to crawl onto when it goes through metamorphosis
(I find Darner larvae to be easier and more fun to keep because they are active predators that chase their prey, the species you found seem to be Clubtail/Skimmer larvae which are ambush predators with a smaller appetite )
That's what I was saying in my head we need them dragon flies especially them Darner bad boys. But still it's the circle of life but I hear ya. I love my ecosystems healthy and happy
@@bradley6350 I guess it depends on the person you ask, for ex a normal person would think this was interesting while a PETA individual would see this as a sinful act on epic proportions.
I grew up in central Pennsylvania, right on a creek, and I was a master at catching crey-fish as we call them locally. I never realized it was craw fish until about 20 years ago, when I moved to the Philadelphia area (yeah, Philly sucks)...
5:58 The crayfish has a programed defense mechanism that says it can climb upward that wall to get away. But then some human put it in a glass container, imagine the mindfuck he had 😂
The crayfish is a menace it was stuck in a corner multiple times AND STILL MANAGE TO DOGE MOST OF THE ATTACKS and it even went for a little nibble on the nose
The proper souther term for Crayfish is Crawdads. They are delicious when steamed with garlic butter, lemon pepper, garlic pepper, old bay and cajun seasoning.
Guys NEVER DO THIS Just because you see a video that shows it doesn't mean do it yourself Don't just get the coolest thing you see with no education or experience Im 14 and when i heard turtles were good pets i wanted one But i took months researching everything about them before getting one My turtle is now thriving with everything he needs
You know people in the comments that this turtle is getting food to eat so that the turtle will gonna be your dinner plate when it’s finished eating crawfish
dude no never take animals from the wild, this guy wont keep the snapping turtle when it waise over 40 pounds and it will be to late to release it back in to the wild because the turtle has never had to work for food so it wont know how to hunt and when you take it from a clear aquarium to a muddy pound it will not navigate correctly
@@taffylol6748 snapping turtles don’t work for their food lol. They just sit and wait. Clearly you don’t have the first clue how snapping turtles work lol.
This exact fight happened in my stepdad's canoe when I forgot to put the baby turtle back in it's bucket. The crawdad (crawfish) was what my stepdad was using for bait, and he let them run around in the middle of the canoe. This particular crawdad was five times the size of the first one in this video and the turtle was slightly smaller than the one in the video... the crawdad tried to claw the turtles face and before I could scoot over to grab them the turtle reached out and bit the crawdad's head off. I never questioned who would win this fight ever again. Easy win for the turtle, even with a big size disadvantage.
I have rescued a trapped snapping turtlein a broken tree for 5 days and was starving and he was friendly ro me but not to ohters idk how but yeah i liked him alot i fed him by hands and gave all the love and finally i realeased it in the river because his house belongs to the wild
At first I was like aw this is a sweet nice teenage kid who enjoys animals. Then after seeing more of his videos I'm like oh he's making animals fight to the death nevermind 😂
@@zachantes1161 you definitely can and a lot of people do feed their snakes live mice. Although most snake owners prefer frozen mice over live mice due to the chance of the snake getting bit.
@@zachantes1161 A lot of snakes won't eat dead prey, I've only had corn snakes, so I don't know if it's something unique to them, but they will refuse to eat anything dead.
@@zachantes1161 you usually feed pet snakes live mice. Many pet snakes wouldn't even touch dead mice, since their predator instinct won't kick in. Obviously there are also pet snakes that can eat dead mice that you microwave earlier (to defrost them)
I named mine spike, I did something like this 25 years ago and eventually had to let spike go in a friends pond. He was a little smaller that a basketball and I had him for About 5 years
Water cleanliness is so important. They can get all kinds of lethal diseases if not properly maintained. I'd be so happy with those little crayfish. We have literally *nothing* like that around here.
If you can find a place to buy crawfish, you can keep them pretty easily. They literally live in mud. Just toss em in a pond and they will thrive. They are also delicious.
@@Our_Duality that may be true but i own a lot of turtles and they often attempt to grab onto the corners of the tank and hold them selfs up so a rock would be a good idea
@@mysticforest7687 you right! I have a 6 month old one he’s always used the rocks to get air since I got him at around 4 weeks old. Rocks are literally in the natural environment I be feeling bad for improper tank setups for the turtles sake
I’ve had 2 common snapping turtles as pets that I found when they were babies. Both ate live fish immediately. We kept them until they got big enough to be dangerous (8-10 inches across the shell) and released both back into the wild. Really interesting and primitive pets. One was named Yertle and the other Spike.
A few months ago I caught a baby snapping turtle that was just floating in a creek behind my grandma’s house. There had been snapping turtles there for years that my grandpa had observed. Recently we found four adult ones, they are really cool animals.
Many years ago I had a small aquarium that I had a small snapping turtle in. Had it set up like a natural habitat. I would catch minnows, we had a creek close by ( thats where I got the turtle ) and put in with it.
I caught a baby snapping turtle once, being young and stupid I thought I would keep the turtle overnight in a fish tank with multiple fish and several crayfish until I could set up a proper tank for it. The next morning the aquarium was empty besides a very well fed turtle.
7:16 that cray fish literarily said you can have him instead. the cray fish on the back of the other crayfish who is already thinking about its life decisions before it died
