Here I offer a funny gameplay against 7 hardest AI players. Game settings: difficulty: Hardest; victory condition: Standart; resources: High; map type: Hill Country; Reveal map: Yes; Starting age: Iron Age; Game Speed: Fastest;
When playing on hard difficulty, my goto method was building more towers near the AI base. I would gather 20 villagers and build towers quickly and put chariots (archer) or horse archers being the towers to deal with catapults. I would then build another tower infront of those towers and build another layer. After that i would repeat until i am certain that they cant beat my towers. I would then build stables and barracks behind those towers and organize army for invasion.
For those who question the authenticity of the random map. The resources are calculated and dispersed across the map based on the number of players and the map size. Just try the same settings as what he did and you will see. I like playing on smaller maps with 1 vs 7 computers as well. In most games I get piles of resources of each type beside my town centre.
I used to notice that in Age of Empires 1, after a long enough war of attrition, the AI will just give up and stop using their units or building new ones. You notice this especially in this game here- Blue finds huge piles of gold left unmined in enemy territory- the AI just didn't bother to use its resources after a while.
It's likely that they ran out of food. The AI is a little dumb, and it will queue it's villagers to gather food in places any player who has played long enough to experience what a tower is. I think it prioritizes food production over any other method of resource gathering, which allows it to thrive in the early game, but it kinda fails to these types of attrition based methods.
@@Magnatio Hello sir. I would like for you to do a video playing a scenario in my realistic-enough giant map of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. See my earlier uploads where I have my maps for Age of Empires 1 and 2, or my recent uploads "Age of Ancient Iberia" where I conquered Rome and Carthage using my ancestors.
Babylonians have access to fully upgraded heavy catapults too. Plus Babylonians have access to the Scythe Chariot that can melt trought heavy catapults and siege in general without costing any gold. Besides, the AI sucks so it wont be a problem.
@@Hotwash544 I was in a clan called shadow bandits. I think our handle was SB_ We weren't crazy good or anything but it was a lot of fun. I played ROR and mostly played legion war. I wasn't good at death matches.
@@delt19 nice, I was CM2_C_Patton, it was the clan, the rank and the handle lol...I played mostly legions only as well but general death matches as well. Legion wars was basically who could click fastest. Not alot of strategy haha
The original is all about micromanaging. It's a pain in the ass unless you were discovering it for the first time as a kid in the early 2000s or late 90's. Then it's just a lot of silly fun.
Watch towers were always overpowered in this game. They don't count towards your population count which is major since they're only limited to the available stone.
I was like ''Hell yeah!'' when I noticed that you uploaded a new video. It's good to see that you're still making AoE1 videos. I love every single one of them! :>
Now I consider myself lucky,I got the game and can play whenever nostalgia is too hard to resist..nothing better than a friday night ,after all the craziness at school, to be home, nice and warm, with my girlfriend, and playing AoE
Part of what makes the original Age of Empires version (released in year 1998 and it's expansion The Rise of Rome released in 1998) incredible to me is the splendid graphics and gameplay, i play it to this present day in year 2020. There are a few problematical bug issues with artificial intelligence computer AI which thereby enables easy victory but first i want to state the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition has undeniably fantastically brilliant graphics of excellence, i'm not complaining about it, even though at times i feel it wasn't needed i nevertheless think it's superlative. They could have left original Age of Empires as it was while adding increased population caps 500 to 1000 units in random maps, death match and other game modes against enemy computer artificial intelligence and also adding new civilizations therewith consisting of large variety of villagers with various physical appearances, diverse military units of more variety in physical appearance and variation in building style architecture with plenteous vast varied technologies to research, such improvements would be comprised of outstanding wonderful exquisite splendorousness, however as i say the Definitive Edition of Age of Empires has completely improved overhauled graphics consisting of superb new animations, i shall hereby mention a few such as for example ways in which buildings collapse after being destroyed or being able to walk over farms instead of them functioning similar to buildings which thereto leads units getting stuck in a particular spot lol, the whole walking over farms mechanic idea was introduced first in original Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings which was released in year 1999 and also The Conquerors expansion released in year 2000 which continues gameplay brilliance of The Age of Kings. Artificial intelligence in Age of Empires 2 and The Conquerors expansion is superior especially on the difficulties hard and hardest, it doesn't possess troubling problematical bugs such as artificial intelligence AI contained within Age of Empires 1. Artificial intelligence in both Age of Empires 1 and Age of Empires 2 on hard and hardest difficulty is totally relentless, vicious, barbaric, callous, unforgiving, filled with potent brutal ferociousness, remorselessness, mercilessness, pitilessness and fierceness which is marvellous because i enjoy a challenge, i derive enjoyment therefrom, however when i play Age of Empires 2 and The Conquerors expansion on Hard or hardest difficulty i always therewith have at least two other civilizations who is my ally lol, for safety purposes. If artificial intelligence which was used in Age of Empires 2 was also utilized in Age of Empires 1 it would be supremely magnificent. When i play Age of Empires Rise of Rome i set it on hard or hardest difficulty enabling maximum number of players with two other civilizations as my allies, without allies you won't survive lol, even sometimes while having two allies there's always an enormous possibility of being obliterated by enemy Artificial intelligence. Age of Empires 1 and all the bugs contained therein mostly due to enemy computer AI have been removed in Age of Empires 2 thereby making it a supremely superior game. It might be erroneous what i'm expressing to some extent but i'd think majority of Age of Empires series fans agree original Age of Empires 2 and it's expansion is a better more improved upon version of Age of Empires 1. Now when it comes to the definitive editions of both Age of Empires 1 and Age of Empires 2 i hereby fully welcome them, game developers did a massively spectacular job. Let me mention it again the population caps should be increased 500 to 1000 units against enemy artificial intelligence in both Age of Empires 1 and Age of Empires 2, that option should exist thereby leading to creation of astronomical armies causing absolute utter chaos in it's totality whereby every civilization wreak havoc on each other. Cheats is something i never use while playing Age of Empires series of games, employing cheats in video games removes fun out of it.
I agree that the DE of AOE 1&2 is indeed spectacular but I still like the simplicity of the original game, such as the retro graphics or the old theme music. It's true that the AI needs to be improved and that they have to present us updates with new nations and units, but that should be able to be done by updating the old game without changing the AOE fans' favorite aspects of game.
Es bueno ver gente que todavía juegue al AOE 1, hoy en dia solo son jugadores del AOK. Good to see people who still play the AOE 1, today there are only players AOK.
@@Magnatio hi bro, I just wanted to say that you're the best aoe 1 player I've ever seen. Also I'm getting drowned in nostalgia about my childhood and this is one of the best games I've played in my teenage, until my gf told me that I was too immature to play it, and made me not play it anymore. But I am not able to be happy without playing it. It's ok. I can handle her. The problem is, I have windows 10 laptop. Please give me a link that works cuz I want to play this beautiful game again 😭
You should use the new UPatch for AoE (The final version just released months ago), it allows you to play the game with resolution up to 1920x1080, some bug fixes... and other things.
Magnatio moddb.com/mods/upatch-hd/downloads/upatch-hd-11-final The only thing that i dont like is the fact that it changes the music(It uses a 30-40 min .wav file)
+Mayban36 | TASÓ Speaking of music, this guy never uses the CD music, only the MIDI. And speaking of resolution, this guy never uploads in the correct aspect ratio...
+HunterShows the reason he upload videos like that way its because he is using the original game which only allows you to use the 4:3 aspect ratio, the patch allows you to use resolutions up to 1920x1200(16:10) or 1920x1080(16:9). The patch im talking about updates the music too, instead of using the midi files, use 1 .wav file of 40 min.
Yeah siegecraft rocks. I also found that just taking Babylonian and doing a wall and towers strategy works best against 7 CPU's. btw: This doesn't look like a random map, more like a custom scenario. I've never seen Random map generator create a map like this. Great work as well. I've beaten 7 CPU's on hardest before and I know it is not easy. You should play online on voobly and Gameranger, you'd made a decent player.
