Good one again. Download is in the UK. This was 2018 - they had a difficult year, but yes that was Su-metal singing, Moametal behind her. At the end of 2017 Yuimetal, the third girl, couldn't perform at Su's 20th birthday shows in Hiroshima because of ill health, so Su and Moa heroically performed without her. At the beginning of January one of the main guitarists of the Kami Band fell from an observation deck where he'd been stargazing (he was a keen amateur astronomer) and tragically died a few days later (RIP Mikio Fujioka). When they toured in 2018 Yui was still absent and in her place were two back up dancers (who you saw here on either side of the stage) who became affectionately known as 'Muscle Metal'. Yui's absence went largely unexplained until, in October 2018, she announced she would be leaving the band because she was still not fully recovered and her health prevented her performing, but she hopes to follow some long held dreams as herself. In 2019 Babymetal (now just Su and Moa as a duo) have been supported by 3 dancers, known as 'Avengers' each taking turns to fill the third spot vacated by Yui, so they have returned to the original formation of three, but the Avengers have not been given a mic (yet) to help with the vocals. Distortion was released in 2018, that was followed by 'Starlight' which is considered by most (all?) as a tribute to Mikio Fujioka and it was released on the same day Yui made her announcement, so it may be a farewell to her as well.
⚡ 💕 / ☀ Yui announced she was leaving the group for health reasons in October 2018, but had not been on stage with BABYMETAL for a year before that. For Download Festival UK, support dancers backing up Su and Moa were Minako Maruyama and Minami Tsukui (referred to by fans as "muscle metal". They were pretty toned.) Here's a breakdown of recent supporting dancers: 'Legend S' Dec. 2017 - Su and Moa alone. Yui was expected to perform, but was unable to. US/Europe Tour May-June 2018 - Minako Maruyama and Minami Tsukui. Japan October 2018 - "The Chosen Seven"- Minako Maruyama, Minami Tsukui, Shōko Akiyama, Saya Hirai and Kotono Ōmori. December 2018 - Singapore/Australia - Saya Hirai Japan/UK/Taiwan/USA 2019 - The Avengers - One to be selected for each show from: Riho Sayashi, Kano Fujihira and Momoko Okazaki.
Babymetal was Sumetal (lead singer), Moametal, and Yuimetal from 2012. At some point in 2017 or so Yuimetal missed some shows. It was later reported she had a medical condition that restricted her from performing. Rumors swirled for a year over her future with the band, with the company giving no details. In 2018 they formerly announced that she was leaving the band. They started doing shows with Sumetal and Moametal and a team of backup dancers. At the end of 2019 they released their 3rd album and officially announced that Babymetal will be Sumetal and Moametal and an interchangeable third member and dropped the backup dancers. I just saw them in this format not too long ago in Boston. They were awesome, but long time fans can't help but miss Yuimetal.
@Charles Murphy They still have backup, or supporting dancers. There are three, with one chosen to perform at each show. They are Riho Sayashi (former Morning Musume), Kano Fujihira (current Sakura Gakuin), and Momoko Okazaki (a Sakura Gakuin graduate). This is a non-singing role, and they do not participate in interviews with the members, Su and Moa.
@@rickwagner- Right, but not all at once. When I saw them in Boston last September is was just Su, Moa, and Momoko, using the existing dance routine set up of the traditional three piece unit. Different than that period they went through with a pack of dancers on stage.
@Charles Murphy Still, that's been exaggerated. For most of 2018 there were either two support dancers (Minako Maruyama and Minami Tsukui), or one (Saya Hirai). There were only a few big arena concerts in Japan with five support dancers.
They have been touring across America since 2014 but this year they're gonna touring across the world visiting new country's on their biggest world tour EVER, also they tour across EU last year on 21 dates including "The Forum L.A" so don't surprise if you saw an American audience on their lives videos or hanging out with the biggest metal groups and metal legends on the most famous and biggest metal festivals across the world (I'm not lying).
Being touring across the world since 2014 especially Europe first festval appearance Sonisphere in the UK played in Paris just before that at a venue . Being tourinģ the world every year since and vist Russia this year on there European tour 🤘😁🤘
2 ladys you see at beginning are CallieSakura a youtuber and Lily metal both British isn't it ironic the 2 faces you see properly at the Forum are British travelled all the way to LA to see them . safely say there big fans . 🤘😁🤘
Download is held at Donnington Park in the UK. It's one of the biggest Metal fests in the UK. This was last year while they were still deciding how to fill the gap left by Yui leaving the usual 3 girl line up. They were experimenting with groups of up to 7 dancers and trying out new girls to fill the 3rd spot. They are now back to 3. Didn't really like the outfits during this thankfully brief period. Su loves commanding the Metal fans to circle for her.
@Anthony Griffin LOL. They never had seven dancers. The most they had were five in Japan for a few big October 2018 arena concerts. Those five PLUS Su and Moa were referred to as "The Chosen Seven", but it's not entirely clear if that's what the lore at the time even meant.
This was my first babymetal song that I just happened to catch during download highlights in summer 2018. Download festival is held at Donington Park in England. Su is in front as usual and Moa is behind her, both have hair down and shoulders covered. The other 2 dancers have hair up and shoulders uncovered
Just for reference, If you think back to the Karate video, Moa was the girl catching the fly and was behind Su in this video. Yui, who is no longer a member of Babymetal, was the girl that kicked the (whatever it was) towards us and broke the screen in the Karate video. It took me awhile to like Distortion. The repetitive woah woahs annoyed me but the song hits so hard I can forgive the excessive woahs :)
Just a heads up : try to avoid watching any glastonbury 2019 live videos, the BBC screwed up the sound mix and the crowd was largely unaware of what BABYMETAL is. Glastonbury is a pop/hip-hop/rap kind of festival and metal is clearly not their vibe :D. Any other festival/video is fine though.
Yes, as people have mentioned there were three original members, Su the lead singer, with Yui on Moa as scream and dance. They performed as three from 2010 through November 2017. In December 2017 just before a big concert, Yui came down with an undisclosed illness and wasn't able to perform, and just Su and Moa did. During the concert season of 2018 they expected Yui would return, and so Su and Moa performed along with some backup dancers in different setups. Download (which is in England and France depending) had 2 backups. In October Yui announced she was still not well and chose to retire from Babymetal, and the same day Starlight was released as a single which fans take as a sign it refers to Yui and Mikio, their lead guitarist who passed away in January 2018 from an accident. In 2019 Babymetal is now two, Su and Moa. And in each show they are joined by an Avenger, one of three dancers is chosen to make it a threesome for each show. In June or July it was announced Yui had recovered, but other than Su and Moa declaring Yui is still family, we haven't heard from her. Which you know is normal; Babymetal is as private and secretive as anyone.
Someone seriously needs to write a book containing the complete history of Babymetal. I feel sorry for all these rectors trying to figure everything out by going through hundreds & eventually probably thousands of comments about the band and the fascinating history of how it started to where they are now.
Su the lead singer is 22 now. She was 17 when they did gimme chocolate. Yui left the group due to health problems. The group is officially just Su& Moa now but they tour with up to 4 back up dancers. That show was at Donington Park in Leicestershire, England if I remember right.
Remember that Babymetal is an AMUSE franchise, and things sometimes are difficult to understand. Yui Mizuho as a lot of people are saying left the band "for health reasons". That´s the official explanation of AMUSE and the girls and even Yui repeats this. The nature of the condition was never disclosed. Japan have a very protective policy with minors and the nature of the condition is a private matter, so no more explanations were given. Yui Mizuho as far as we know is still in AMUSE and a little is know about her. Also officially Babymetal are now only two people: Suzuka and Moa. Lately Yui´s position were filled by Riho Sayashi , Momoko Okazaki and Kano Fujihira. The one who appears in some videos from the Hiroshima concert (official videos like Da Da Dance, Pa-pa-ya and others) is Riho Sayashi, a former Morning Musume singer. Maybe in the future AMUSE announced a new member, but like a lot of japanese music companies, there are very secretive about this things.
"Distortion, the body cries out. Distortion, pain slashes. It was a foul world. Distortion, if you have wings and can fly, Distortion, do not fear being controlled. Traitors should be killed and disposed of!" Hi T-Mac! Good reaction! Download Festival is in the UK. 2018 was a pretty bad year for BABYMETAL. The last shows of 2017 was a 2 night concert called "Legend - S", it was Su-Metal's (lead singer) 20th birthday show in her hometown Hiroshima. YuiMetal was absent and only MoaMetal performed with Su. The Amuse management was tight lipped on the matter, and said basically nothing to the fans. Not long after these shows towards the end of December Mikio Fujioka, one of the Kami Band guitarists, fell from a stargazing platform as he was an avid stargazer. He passed away from his injuries the following January. Yui continued to be absent all of 2018 until October where both her and Amuse released statements saying she was leaving the group due to health reasons. On the same day these statements were released the music video for "Starlight" was also released, which we fans believe is a tribute to Mikio and a send off for Yui. In this video Su is up front singing, Moa is directly behind her, and on both sides there are the "MuscleMetal" backup dancers that toured with them that year. The 2018 tour was the "dark side" of BABYMETAL. There was a bunch of lore about the "chosen seven" and some other stuff, but none of it made sense, probably because the loss of Yui screwed up everything they had planned.
Wonder if you'll ever get to the shows with 7 women on stage? On stage were Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi and back up dancers Minako Maruyama and Minami Tsukui from their choreographer Mikkio Mizuno's band Eleven Play as it took two dancers to fill in for Yui Mizuno who left for health reasons. ;-(
2018 was a tough year for BABYMETAL (the details have already been explained), and the "dark side" phase is not my favourite, but they were still fantastic. BABYMETAL in their weakest phase are still better than everything else in my mind. It was my first year to see them live, and I loved every second of it.
In 2018, it was a difficult year, beause of yui's departure, so they treid a formation of Su-metal, Moa-Metal, and more 5 backup dancers, but it was not very well welcome by the fans. So, in 2019, they came back with the 3 members formation, with Su-metal, Moa-metal and one rotacional dancing member.
Yui-metal left the group due to health reasons that's why they were only 2 members in this video, the additional dancers at the back weren't part of Babymetal, they're just back up dancers. As of the moment, they seem to have added a new one, though it seems she's still under training.
Even on a bad year they out perform most bands . Had a lot of decisions on what direction to take and i think most fans think they got it right 2019. So the BabyMetal legend continues. Why not try "Catch me if you Can" a great fun song . Legend 1997 at the Makuhari Messe 🤘😁🤘 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VANhYO1TLno.html
2018 was kind of a weird period, Yui had been absent since end of 2017 for health reasons and left the group in 2018. Last year they returned to the old format with Su in the middle and Moa on the side + third dancer.
one of their quitarist died before this and one of their member yui metal left because of health issue thats why there's two of them the other two are the avengers
You can always recognize Suzuka. She has large ears haha- nonetheless shes absolutely beautiful. And of course her voice....and if i saw it right, Moa is directly behind her. And YES we all miss Yui!
dude Babymetal is into numerology, among other things, so they can be one, two, three, four, or five, or seven. they are awesome no matter what they do.
The main singer is still Su-Metal, the one you see behind her is Moa-Metal. The other member, Yui-Metal, has left the group for health problem, that's why she didn't show up in Download 2018 festival. The other two (left & right of Moa) is the backup dancer to accompany Moa.
This is the Darkside of BABYMETAL in the year 2018. Yui Mizuno left the band because of illness and their lead guitarist Mikio Fujioka died last January 2018.
Loosing Yui for me was almost like loosing a family member. Very hard to look at first shows after Yui's departure. Even now I see that Moa's choreography is much better than any of Avengers can do. All of original crew were the world class performers, no less.
Stick to live concert videos between 2014 and 2016 in my opinion. Those black outfits are awful and they don't have Yui. Which is too bad because Distortion is a great song.
