BabyMetal - From Dusk Till Dawn Reaction 

That surprised you - and yes Su-metal's vocals are other-worldly. This was the song we got on the international release of Metal Resistance where the Japanese release had 'Syncopation' instead. They had only ever played FDTD live once, at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017, but there was some sort of copyright issue with the pro-shot video so that has never been seen, there are only fancam videos for that performance. When BABYMETAL were holding a ballot for the top 10 songs for their Top 10 album for the 10th anniversary in 2020 a fan campaign got FDTD voted in. It was not on the album in the end, but they did at least play it live at two of the 10 Budokan concerts and we finally got this pro-shot video of a live performance to enjoy. With so few live performances it does tend to get overlooked, which it shouldn't as it is such a great and haunting song and Su's vocals are incredible. It is sung entirely in English, but the official lyrics were never published so the subtitles are a close approximation (there have been many attempts to work out what they are over the years, some better than others).

Although it looks like a new song from previous album and we only got this proshot version from 2021, song it's actually from Metal Resistance released in 2016 and becomes one of the underrated tracks but hidden gem for some more fans. This song was performed along with Syncopation in the middle of setlist during Doomsday III and IV, it got that epic and ethereal vibes and it shows a mature side in BM second album, Metal Resistance. Both songs are part of that album, only thing is FDTD was released for international market and Syncopation only locally, of course is another suggestion for next reaction. This is a long time waited proshot version for the fans, song was pushed to be performed again after many years and being played only one time at Hollywood Paladium in 2017 while on US tour when YuiMetal was still in the group, sadly for copyright disputes that proshot version never saw the light and we only have fancams of that. Thankfully they performed this in 2021 at 10 Babymetal Years Budokan, and surprised everyone with this astonishing and beautiful production. Momoko Okazaki (now MomoMetal) was the avenger helping to fill the third spot and she did a great job. This one is a fan edit with another English translation, but we don't have official lyrics yet, is one out of four songs with full English lyrics. Like someone said before, MoaMetal is like a body subtitles for this song. Love that dubstep or brostep breakdown, is a genre widely know and popular around 2015 thanks to Skrillex among others, he actually become very good friend of BM and even invite them to perform during a Skrillex show in Japan playing a remix version of Gimme Chocolate!! FDTD is an amazing and very underrated song. It's a shame that it's only been performed live three times because it's an amazing song that shows an aspect of Su-metal's incredible voice that she doesn't use in any other song.

💕 ⚡ 🍑 / 🌅 I was there for the world premiere of this song in 2017 at the Hollywood Palladium. This version from Budokan in 2021 is even better. Su is just a stronger singer these days, and she was great even back when she was a kid.

"FDTD" is considered a rarity for many reasons: style, vocals, language, song's release and live history, etc. Regarding the musical style, this is a rare mix of dream trance with metal. Vocally, the song starts with some of Su-metal's falsetto (not the first time we hear her doing it) and yes, it's crazy... But it's even more impressive when she sings those crazy notes in her head voice with full power. Lyrics are fully in English (which is still a rarity now) and they only released it on the international version of the Metal Resistance album but not on the domestic (Japanese) version which includes "Syncopation" instead. The song premiered live in 2017 at Hollywood Palladium but they got some issues with the live footage (apparently regarding copyright, which is kinda ironic) and it wasn't performed again until 2021 at the Budokan, where is this footage from. 🤘🦊

I think strong clamping on headphones sucks even more when you have glasses.. They should wear in but will take time. I highly recommend Mirror Mirror by BabyMetal.. and Metalizm. :)

SU-METAL's voice brings out the full beauty of this fantastical song.

I love this song! The minor key dark descent of Dusk into the chaotic breakdown of Midnight, then the instant transition into major key, and warm sunlight from Dawn... All with Su's angelic vocals piercing the veil. Amazing! 🤘🦊

I heard that BabyMetal performed all the songs from the first and second albums at the Tokyo Dome concert, excluding FDTD. But the audience said that they had indeed heard this song in the Tokyo Dome.😁😆 Thanks for your great reaction.

This is in my top 5 songs of theirs. I am hoping they perform this again in the future, but I am definitely glad it at least got performed (looking at you ↑ ↓ ← → BBAB).

Fun reaction thank you! I've been delving in to their live performances for close to three years now, and I did find one performance that was not near flawless. Su-Metal was sick while trying to perform. Other than that, across hundreds and hundreds of combinations songs/venues/tours/years they are just always somewhere between fantastic and spectacular. This particular performance is one of my favorites.

Yes, it was surprising, but at the same time it also means a lot of stress obviously, since they dropped this song out of their normal concerts. The problem is simply, they earn money only by performing . It simply has no sense for Su take a day longer of to perform a harder song. It would simply mean that each of the girls would earn less.
