Babymetal chats with Revolver's Chris Enriquez about their Fox God, their love for Metallica, and what the song "give me chocolate" is really about! Videographer: Possum Hill
I love that they all got to speak and that they looked like they understood the interviewer ( at least a little) A few ADORABLE parts: 1.Yui at 1:54, 2.Moa from 2:06 to 2:14, 3.the Metallica part, 4.Su at 2:40 (like WHAA??) and 5.Su speaking English! So great I love these girls and they are so awesome!
speechless when SU METAL speak english..she is improve a lot in speak english and she did the best .. good luck suzuka,, we are proud with babymetal! at 1:53 YUI metal really attacrt my attention with her cuteness!! and at 2:09 MOA always being moa haha ..cheerful girl.. Good luck for the next destination BABYMETAL!
Its obvious that Su learning english for quite some time. You can see from some of her reactions, that she can understand (some things) what the interviewer say. Even her pronunciation is good (much better than my babbling). If she keep up in her studies she will be able fully understand and answer independently to the questions. It's a matter of couple years. We should be proud of her. :)
pajmic666 Well, I think maybe she'll be able to answer in English, but as with every major idol group, pretty much everything that an interviewer can ask and everything that they can answer is approved by the producers to keep a formula in line.
pajmic666 i would say even sooner, if they're studying english with the same determination and dedication that they have with babymetal. Maybe their next album may have one or 2 songs in english, and i would be totally ok with that
pajmic666 I think Yui's also shown some progress in her hearing. The translator was also impressive, Moa's answering was a lil bit out of the course (went to genre definition) and somewat abstract (she said like they were founding, seeking and digging the genre Babymetal performing on various stages).
they are so kawaii and so talented.. its like when I listen to their music or hear them speak, I feel their love and confidence.. it makes me so happy!!!
YUI CHWAANNNN ♥ ♥ ♥ oh turn on the caption and look how hilarious youtube tries to captionize the japanese. "only the fox god knows" turned into "only the fuck got no nice" ROFL
Cool little interview. Usually you hear the same questions over and over, but this one had a couple of interesting variations. Su-Metal caught me off guard busting out with the English too. Very cool.
I would like to see them in an interview where they show their real-side. I mean, I think that the interviews are so controlled, because they always say the same things. Guess they have to be adult to express what they really feel about this.
Very cool that they let them reply in Japanese. They get express themselves so much better that way, as opposed to many interviews where they had to reply in English.
First time I see You not falling asleep during interview :P Miss her so much even though I've never met her... BABYMETAL does that to my head :D BABYMETAL forever 🤘🦊🤘
Su's English TvT.. are they trying to not let us see what they say by the subtitle but hear what they convey all by themselve someday? we must love them, guys!! And I love you, my supper-crazy-cute-Moa chan
It's obvious Su has been learning English quite a lot. A while ago, I read a forum post by some Sakura Gakuin/Babymetal fans who were wondering why Su had been so invisible after leaving Sakura Gakuin (apart from doing the Babymetal stuff, of course). I now think the record company spent a lot of that time working with her behind the scenes to push her towards becoming an ideal frontwoman: giving her English lessons, further vocal training, and general showmanship skills. Yui and Moa might get some English lessons too, but as someone here already pointed out, they were pretty busy with Sakura Gakuin until the end of March this year, so they wouldn't have had too much time for that. Still, I'd happily see them improving too!
"Gimme Choco riricks meen" Awwwwww that's adorable damnit I laugh so hard at Moa spacing out and looking waaaaay up and staring at random stuff because I do the same thing when I'm nervous or don't know how to act. Reminds me of Will Ferrel in Taladega Nights "I don't know what to do with my hands" I can so relate.
i'm focusing on Su-Metal ,but when Yui looks at the camera i look at her too..!!!! She glances at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol That is the moment that i have a heart-attack, what a beautiful girl
Yui, causing diabeetus with her look at the camera Moa staring into space, checking out the duct work and lighting Su with her adorable english answer for Gimme Choco I could watch them do interviews all day I think
Su in Babymetal is usually more serious and professional compared to in her previous pop-oriented projects, but at 2:57 in this video, I get a quick flashback to Su-chan in Sakura Gakuin. Very cute! :-D
Revolver is a great company, and I'm sure Chris Enriquez was trying his best but man, I really wish he did more research beforehand of this interview. Going forward, I hope all interviewers do research on who they are interviewing so they don't say something that sounds ignorant. Also, please don't ask such long, drawn out questions to artists that cant speak English well. That translator was the lifeline of this interview.
No dude... not about eating disorders. I love when Sumetal corrects the interviewer who clearly has not done his research. "Gimme Chocolate ree-rix means..."
I just realized that if you turn on the English auto-generated subtitles, at minute 2:51 SU says "girls and women who love to eat chokorate" and the translation goes: "girls and women who love to eat children" Wtf youtube xD
I think "Gimme Chocolate" IS about eating disorders, or at least about the pressure put on young women to worry about their weight. I just think the term was probably a bit difficult for them to understand. The way Su explains the song, it sounds like that's what they mean by it.
i know this comment is years old, but imo the song isnt about eating "disorder", but just a fun song for girls around their age, wants to eat chocolate but afraid for getting weight... but they dont want (or dont need) to do tight diet. eating disorder put too much weigh there, with doctor diagnosis, some medicines or therapies, thus it wont be "a fun song for their age".
