Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 Su-metal is the lead vocalist, Moametal provides backing vocals, harmonies and is in charge of what they called "scream and dance" when they first started out in 2010. They are very close friends, but not related. They started as a trio with Yuimetal, but sadly she left the band in 2018 after a 12 month absence for health reasons. They are teasing us now with the possibility of a new third member, so perhaps the girls they showed in white here were Su, Moa and their new member. There is a lyric video on their channel for the full version of 'Monochrome' if you want to do another reaction, it has not been blocked at all. Generally you will not get closed captions or subtitles with most of their videos and performances, but don't worry as they are very good at making us feel the emotions or to get the meaning or feeling of whatever they are singing about through their vocals and the choreo which is designed to help with that as well as with leading the audience. Just listen to the music and the singing and watch the performance - you will get it. As Su-metal once said "Don't think. Feel." Also, we will explain the meaning of any song you react to if you ask (or if you don't ask we'll do it anyway😉). Having said that, if you follow the links and guidance Jake Muller has posted below, the channel he has recommended has added English subtitles to most if not all of the videos there.
@@princeblworld You are welcome. I forgot to add, they are first and foremost a live performance act - their official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but they are at their very best singing and performing live with their backing band (the Kami Band).
Thanks for this reaction. Babymetal is a group that started when they were just kids, it was 3 girls, their are just 2 left these days (one had to leave for an undisclosed health reason) and they are young women now. They have hinted they will add a new member soon. So having 3 'back up singers' is probably a nod to that. As you might expected Babymetal does metal music, but with a twist, they were the first to incorporate choreographed dancing. They have a main singer and the other is now basically the main dancer, singing less, doing back up vocals. I suggest to do a reaction to the official lyric video for Monochrome on the official Babymetal channel, it has English translated lyrics as well. Babymetal's songs are very diverse in genre and metal sub-genres. To get a taste of what other things they do, I suggest to react to: Babymetal Headbanger Legend 1997 after that.

I'm gonna leave another suggestion in my next comment so you can check it out early BM era songs and clips safe to react but meanwhile don't worry about pausing a lot or putting some filters in BM new singles, so far no one is reporting copyright blocked issues. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25 *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 23. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After that year you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them sing or have mic, they only dance, but that may change this year since they announced a new official member is coming. Monochrome is the 2nd single released from this new upcoming album called "The Other One" is gonna be released next March 24, you can watch the official lyrics video to know what is about. This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnorok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors._ Original version is more hard rock ballad style with overprocessed and audio effects, SuMetal vocals are similar to vocaloid style in some parts, but is enjoyable either way with the beautiful message. We're waiting for the live proshot version at Makuhari Messe 2023 performed at the end of January, one of the highlights in the live concerts was this beautiful song, SuMetal made everyone raise their phones to illuminate this dark world. They already have softer version and piano version of certain songs before like "Akatsuki Unfinished Version" and The One - Stairway To Living Legend, i suggest you those after hearing the original version. @@princeblworld We know Amuse is very hard to deal with copyright blocked issues, fortunately we got a way to go around with "Babymetal Reactor Resource" YT place, you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. You'll find some watermarked clips in the channel also with the description and where to get the non-logo version. If you want you can watch the original clean version and pause whenever you like to say your comment and after that you can put a logo provided in the same place so you can enjoy a clean version from the beginning. You can also put some heavy opacity and translucent effect to avoid those issues if necessary. However there are some safe clips to react like those from Legend 1997 or some of Budokan 2014 or previous to this year and Festivals that is out of reach from Amuse hands. By all means AVOID live compilations at least for first time watching, not saying all of them are bad but chances are you'll end up facing the bad ones bad edited, very confusing, switching costumes and distracting you from the performance and meaning of the song. Also avoid Glastonbury Festival performance, the sound is bad and the crowd isn't the usual fans. Here's some examples of safe to react live performances: - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013, you can find this a "Gans Tomas" channel or "abr metal") or live at Legend I (2012). - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters. ("Kawaii Metal" channel got this) - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at GuilhermeCait channel or live at MetroRock 2015 in Babymetal Reactor Resource channel under the title "CMIYC". - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (lately hasn't been so safe, so careful) - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016 ("kitsune6001" channel got this one) - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, official channel got the Download version and is safe to react. If you follow this step by step you won't have blocked issues the majority of times, but sometimes there has been issues with certain songs so if you got those try to put opacity, blur or translucent effect, that might help a little bit. I enjoyed your heartfelt reaction! One reason this song is so personal to Su is because the lyrics and imagery (as seen in the original Monochrome video) allegorically depict the nuclear bomb attack on Hiroshima near the end of World War II. Su is from Hiroshima.
Babymetal was an experimental sub group of a big idol group with school theme for kids from 10-15 years old - Sakura Gakuin, 3 Jpop idols doing metal music (since 2010, from the age of 11 and 12) because one of their manager/producer - Koba-Metal is a metal head and he came up with this idea from picking how Su-metal - the lead singer, who at such young age can perform with such charisma and unusually big vocal for a Jpop group - so she can front a group with metal music. This project fly off out of hand and became so big, with later the join of Kamiband - group of Japanese top session musicians, they gain exposure to the world of metal and gain a lot of love from legendary metal bands/artists around the world. They probably the most successful Japanese act oversea with phenomenal live shows (god if you watch a full show Su-metal must have a Metal lung for belting out perfectly while jumping around for hour), but becasue they work in a very cryptic way (like super strict with copyrights contents, and most of their stuffs on official channel or albun only really shine in a live show, there's no information of the girls, no fan meeting, no social media whatsoever, only official Babymetal account), with their niches of genre blending, they still haven't reached mainstream audiences like how Jpop still dominating in Japan
If this is your first experience of Babymetal, you're in for a surprise when you see what they normally do. This is very unusual for them; their normal performance is a very bombastic, high energy metal show. Hi Prince. Nice first reaction to Babymetal. Not exactly their most "metal" song, but it IS gorgeous! You are correct though. They are a "metal" band. I put metal in quotes because they've created a new, unique genre of metal which they have named Kawaii metal. Pretty much translate to Cute Metal. As Jake and Grington300 300 has eluded to, These girls started Babymetal very young. The entire band was actually formed around the singer, Su-Metal. The creator, an instructor who loves metal music heard her sing and thought her voice was much too powerful for JPop vocals, so he created the Band around her. Thats the short version of the story anyhow. The other lady, Moametal (the one with the pigtails), isn't her sister, but they are very close friends. There used to be another young lady in the band but had to leave due to undisclosed health reasons. Her name was Yuimetal. I would highly recommend you listen to Monochrome, the original version since you just listened to this one. It has the lyrics so you can see what she is singing about. Most people however, agree she is singing about the bombing of Hiroshima, thus the name. Her grandparents went through that ordeal so it is a personal song for her. Incidentally, You would make Su-Metal very happy. You mentioned in your reaction that you wished you could see the lyrics and understand what the song was about because you felt you'd be feeling emotional. That would make her happy as she has stated several times that the lyrics aren't as important to her. She wants listeners to be able to FEEL the song and FEEL what its about. So in that regard, you hit the mark perfectly. I would also agree with autohmae in that Headbanger would be a good song to react to after you react to the original Monochrome. Megitsune is also a good one to react to. One thing you'll learn, if you decide to react to these ladies, is that Babymetal is very diverse. None of their songs will sound similar. Also, they will keep surprising you. So if you're willing to give them a chance, then I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy your trip down what we Babymetal fans call the foxhole.
I have wanted a Babymetal version like this for a long time, because it is so raw. Suzuka can really belt it; her voice is the thin blade that cuts deep. For me the subtitles appeared later in the day. I think they had sync issues. But, the meaning is deeper, but I don't know enough about it to try to explain. So sorry.

@@princeblworld The subtitles were added to the video some hours later. They weren't available when the video premiered. English lyrics are embedded in the official lyric video of the original version of the song on Babymetal's channel. While Babymetal's parent company Amuse can be pretty strict about copyright, all four of the singles from their upcoming concept album, The Other One (March 24, 2023), have been safe to react to so far. Many reactors have been reacting to them without needing to use any video or audio tricks and haven't had any claims or strikes. The Monochrome lyric video is an exception, however, when it comes to official translations. Babymetal don't usually provide them, so it's been up to fans to do so.
OMFG (Oh My Fox God), I coyld write a comment mile long on Babymetal. I'll restrain myself and just say this for the moment. Try official Monochrome music video (and it's their first ever lyric video), combined withe the visuals you'll have a pretty clear image of the meaning of the song. Last thing I'll highly recommend a sing "Road of Resistance" live in Japan video, it's an older video but one of the best.(until 2018 there still where 3 members in Babymetal.)
