Great reaction! Grington300 300 explained the significance of this song, and that it's part of a trilogy, so I'll just chime in a bit on the end that gave you the goosebumps. Those figures are the Chosen Seven, who in Babymetal lore are metal spirits who were sent out by the Fox God and can only reveal themselves where light and dark intersect to form the Metal Galaxy, the title of their third album. They are also featured in the music video for the song Distortion. It all goes along with a graphic novel that was released in 2018 I believe called Apocrypha that loosely describes Babymetal's mythical origins.
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 The pandemic is disgusting and BABYMETAL call it dystopia. They can not go out of Japan so decided to hold 10 concerts to commemorate their 10th anniversary at Budokan taking strict countermeasures against infection. They had 8 shows to date and this "Starlight" has been performed twice on the beautiful stage setup with mesmerizing lighting. (Their costume twinkled by laser effects). Of course Su-Metal's voice has celestial beauty. Japanese fans know that they will head for world tour immediately after the current situation subsides. We would like to enjoy the privilege of their homeland until then.
Hey, Wellcome back to BABYMETAL Oh, i like this song, su voice is just amazing, this song is tribute to Mikio, Guitar from Kami Band that was passed away 3 years ago. And this song is a part of "Trilogy of Light" there are 3 song, Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia. Some beautiful concept from Metal Galaxy Album. You can check it live, more amazing when see BABYMETAL live. Good reaction again 🤘
excellent content, Tauri-Metal, based on what the growling voice says "this time we're taking our bout to the north" I think that it is the fox-god, and that is in reference to: their last world tour ended in northern Europe in Russia after conquering Scandinavia, for their odyssey through the Metal Galaxy. also the song is believed to be a tribute to Mikio, their guitarist who passed away while star gazing, it is also the first song of a trilogy of light, series about loss, mourning, acceptance and moving forward, BABYMETAL heals the souls of those who let them into their hearts. I can tell you from personal experience, that once you see them live in person, you will never forget it and feel compelled to see them more.
Great reaction - and such a shame about 'Megitsune'. 'Starlight' is the first of three songs known as "The Trilogy of Lights" which take us through the stages of mourning. Possibly the three songs together sum up BABYMETAL's year - they had a hard time in 2018. 'Starlight' is about the initial loss, grief and anger. Although this has never been officially stated, confirmed or even mentioned by anybody associated with BABYMETAL, many people believe it is a tribute to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) who died early in January 2018 after falling from an observation deck where he had been stargazing. The lyrics in the softly sung part certainly fit with the theory: "Wherever you are we'll be with you. We'll never forget shining starlight. Wherever you are live in my heart. We'll never forget shooting star. Wherever you are we'll be with you. We'll never forget shining starlight. Wherever you are live in my heart. We'll never forget shining star." The song and video were also released on the same day that Yui announced she would be leaving the band having not yet fully recovered from whatever it was that had prevented her from performing for the previous 12 months, so maybe it pays tribute to her as well. The second song of the trilogy is 'Shine' which is about coming to terms with loss and acceptance. The third song is 'Arkadia' which is about looking to the future, moving on and looking towards better things to come. Each of the songs is different, but they work so well together and they close the third album. You can find live versions that are safe for reactions on the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel (be sure to read the descriptions to find links to the videos for you to watch that are not obscured by a logo).
I wish I knew where I could find it again to link it (I think it was a translated files someone had shared on Reddit) but Su has mentioned in one particular interview that she is reminded of Yui whenever she performs this song.
Missed you Tauri...Megitsune used to be very safe to react to, and I would have loved to see that reaction! I do hope you are able to get others up, I'm sure that others have provided thoughts on that below. Stay safe!
"Beyond the space-time, unleashed yourself far away Keep running far away, and keep run away (This time we're taking our 'bout to the north) Is it a fearless journey?" 🦊🤘 Welcome Back to THE ONE
Great react again! I love this song and live performance, you need watch this song live! Is absolutely Amazing! Please react to Syncopation live. I assure you that you will love this song. Is simply Perfect! See you in the next 🤟🏻 🦊 🔥 🔥 🔥
Always happy to see you back on Babymetal - damn shame about the pointless blocking. Amuse hate free publicity for Babymetal. The 7 people in this video (the only video without the girls in) are to do with the Babymetal lore and there is even a graphic novel featuring them and their story. If you like comix, it's available on Amazon. If you can find the Legend Metal Galaxy live version it'll be worth it - it's a beautiful thing and Moa plays the opening chords on a guitar!
BabyMetal Reactors Resource on you tubes is great place for safe videos got logo over to stop blocks and copyrights issues. Got to listen to rest of trilogy of light . Shine and Arkidia. 🤘🦊🤘
Since you started reacting to Babymetal after listening to Kingslayer, now you can proably tell why a lot of Babymetal fans were not overly surprised by the shape Kingslayer took.... This is what Babymetal's been doing for the past 10yrs.... Actually when my friend first let me listen to Kingslayer, I thought it was a Babymetal song featuring BMTH (since Su had so much singing parts in it), and that Babymetal was getting more hardcore....
Thanks for this reaction and it's really cool you recommend people to other RU-vidrs. Some seem to think it's a zero-sum game. Babymetal loves playing with contrasts of heavy and light, harsh and clean vocals, etc. Babymetal live is 100% best Babymetal ! Definitely any chance you get, you should go.
Great reaction! BTW, Chase is great and has done some amazing BABYMETAL reactions, but then he completely stopped! I assume it's because he got tired of dealing with blocks/strikes. Please do more BABYMETAL reactions, and use the videos from the "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel which are more copyright friendly, plus they have English subtitles included too.🦊🤘
Nice reaction. Yup you may have to wait in a long line for those tickets. At present rate it starting feel like Babymetal maybe sold out for at least 5 years.
Thank you for the reaction but don't let overzealous fans fool you. No one apart of related too, or even close to BABYMETAL on or off record has ever mention or even hinted that this is a tribute to anyone. Just fan theories nothing more.
Someone on a reddit threat posted an interview transcript from Su and Moa with the original japanese and it's english translations (I wish I had bookmarked it or something bc I'd share it with you). Su says in this interview that the song reminds of her of Yui, that she feels closer to Yui when they perform this song, and that it's very emotional for her. While not an explicit admission that the song was meant as a tribute to her, it seems like a reasonable foundation for these theories, in addition to the circumstances of Mikio's death, plus Yui's love known of stargazing.
Youda Takeru (Takemetal) confirmed on his twitter that he did the growls on 'Metal Resistance'. He has worked on every Babymetal album to date (he co-wrote "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" and composed "Distortion" and "Shine"), so that might also be him here.
