That's because the writers and composers of YG often use the same formula like Batter Up. This song is written and composed by Charlie Puth (among others) and this gives the girls a way better chance to shine!

@@wilbertjohn32Luckily, there is no hate in my comment, just simple observations. I am not saying YG can't write songs because they obviously can (I love Treasure and BlackPink). What is also obvious is that they do in fact often reach for the same elements in a song.. Stuck in the middle is not your average 'YG title track' and is more of a ballad so obviously the song will sound differently (also not all producers of the song are your typical YG producer). All in all, YG is doing its thing and Baemon have crazy skills! Good for them.

That’s what I been saying myself but the thing is (with me or to me) BM don’t have their own Identity or unique style. YG is either trying to figure it out for them or already have it but trying to force it on them but BM themselves I believe already knows where they wanna go and “Like that” is where it is for them Pop/R&B with some rap in there. Their Evaluation group song they chose “Scars to your beautiful” should tell you exactly what they are more comfortable and capable of doing when they collectively put they minds to it, YG should just let the girls cook in their own way.

It's great to hear OG K-pop fans state what so many of us have been saying. All music is influenced by music that came before it, whether in big or small ways, that's just how it's always worked. That's how music grows and evolves into new genre's - that "new" style didn't come out of nowhere.
Been a fan of YG Groups for a long time and I'm glad that YG is sticking to their values and formula when it comes to music. This is the OG music that we will keep enjoying in the future. I've been binge watching GG encore stages and we know that YGGG are very stable. Doesn't have to strain their vocal cords and change their voices and end up not singing good live. Power!
Plus that's what Baby Monster themselves wanted they intentionally joined YG in hopes to be in that style and Vibe and that type of group that's what they love....

It's refreshing to hear that you guys understand what YG DNA is. I'm annoyed with new kpop fans complaining about Babymonster saying it's just recycle song from Blackpink. At the back of my mind whenever I read hate comments about Babymonster, I'm like if you don't like Babymonster songs then don't listen to it simple as that.
Fr that's prob part of the reason they signed back as a group. BPs popularity came from their songs that are so heavily associated with YG style. DX4 KTL PV are highly reminiscent of Bang bang bang, I am the best, Fantastic baby and gangnam style where its party song. I'm not saying they cant make it out there though. As a very long time YG Stan as well I agree. Bom was influenced by Lexy, BP obviously influenced by 2NE1 and so on and so forth. YG has a very distinct sound but each group and artist have their own flavor and chemistry. It’s what differentiates all the groups from any other group. 2NE1 was the rebellious girl group. Their aura and flavor is girl crush PLUS rebellious and crazy-out-of-the-box (not like any other group) in terms of music, fashion, and beauty. Their music was a combination of hip-hop, EDM, and reggae. BP is girl crush but also has that “you know you want me” kinda vibe. which is why they also have a lot of fanboys as well as female fans. Their music is a combination of hip-hop, pop, and rock. BM gives me that girl crush too but this time they have that playful and laid back side. Their music is a combination of hip-hop, r&b, and some EDM. HIP-HOP being the ultimate YG trademark. Btw I LOVE watching you guys react especially with YG artists. But I also love how you guys break it down.
Thanks for explaining the obvious to the haters. My Kpop journey started with Blackpink and I heard about the 2NE1 comparisons but didn't live through it. It feels like it's repeating with Babymonster and YG can't do anything right by the haters. I totally agree and think people should just move on, who has time to spend on things they don't enjoy? I surely don't so I'm baffled why people choose to live such miserable lives by hating on others. Kpop has this sports aspect to it where people choose a team like they would a team. Furthermore, these companies have different styles, one could argue YG is in a sub genre of Kpop , but since they're all "kpop" different types of groups are compared to each other. What is Kpop? I agree. The YG song structure is similar but their vocals are on a different level. Even when Baby Monster does a cover. They own that cover. It becomes their song. I keep telling people that they are not a Blackpink copy but are YG girl group version 3:0 upgrade.

Love your explanation with ALL this comparison stuff thats been happening! We all need to realize, every group has their own style in terms of vocals/rapping, etc. Of course if its groups in the same company, obviously they are gonna have a few of the producers, so it is going to sound similar, but completely the same. Not once when i first heard Batter Up, i have not thought of a BlackPink comparison. Of course now when i see all the comments, i hear it now, but at the time i was just enjoying hearing a new group, whom now i have fallen in love with. If i were to put it a different way, like with these trends on tiktok, or even before, like dancing trends, song genre trends (examples: dubstep, shuffling, etc..), we all have heard multiple groups use dubstep during that era, not once have i seen a comparison comment, shuffling.. every group/artist has done shuffling in their choreo at some point, no one compared it. So why now, all of a sudden, people are comparing these groups to other groups just because of how similar the style of music is?? Like im not the biggest blackpink fan, i like their music, but im not overly obsessed with them, and when they first debuted, people automatically thought they were basically the new 2ne1, but after some time, they started to say blackpink is their own group, so basically, give that same recognition to babymonster.

Even with western hip-hop or any genre, they were all influenced by a predecessor or they’ve admired but with their own authenticity to it. I’m not hating on another groups but other groups in their tracks have the same vibe which isn’t bad because that’s showcasing their sound and style. With babymonster as well as others they can do any genre because their voices are versatile. They all can sing and when put together it’s magical. So kudos to you guys! I think a good example is when BLACKPINK performed So Hot (the Black Label remix). It was a different vibe to,the original Wonder Girls JYP style.
