I thoroughly I enjoyed this song. The intro was so nice and the rap parts are so good. What blew me away was everything from the bridge to the end from the vocals from ahyeon to the visuals and that last change up. I wish YG didn’t stick to what they know but still enjoyed it because these girls are so talented. I also can’t wait to see the choreo because I think it’ll tie it all together for me. Thank u for reacting always 🫶🏽
Personally I wasn't a big fan of this song, but I really liked "Stuck in the Middle", so I'll definitely keep seeing what they release. The girls are obviously very talented, so I hope YG can let them expand a little outside of the BlackPink formula they had for this song and Batter Up. Just to clarify, when I say "BP formula", I mean: 1) A first verse that leads into a poweful two part vocal pre-chorus that slows the song down a little. 2) A chorus that is basically just the title of the song, with either nonsense words or the name of the group in it. 3) A rap verse that talks about how badass they are and/or how much you like them and/or how much they don't care about haters, and has a lot of "sound effect words" like "hipity hop hop boom boom pow" 4) Basically the same prechorus sung by a different person. More noticable in BP since it was always Rosé and Jisoo that had it and then switched. 5) a bridge right before the final chorus where the song slows down/they change something up. 6) a final chorus that is like a boosted version of the previous chorus, OR just a "hype moment" where they're louder more energetic. There are a couple of BP songs that aren't like that, but in how I count it's at least: DDDD, KTL, HYLT, Pink Venom, Shut Down, Batter Up and now SHEESH. I don't think it's necessarily a "YG-formula", since YG has made songs in other styles (just look at 2nd gen YG). But since DDDD was such a huge hit for BlackPink, I feel like YG has stopped taking risks/experimenting with different kinds of sounds. And sure, why change something that's working? But it's becoming a little triesome for me. So I hope BaeMon are allowed to change and evolve going forward. Sorry for the essay, it's just been on my mind recently.
I think the problem with yg songs is the chorus part specifically where its like you like or you dont. But at the end of the end thats what yg is known for and as long as yg is capitalising on that formula we are gonna get those type of classic yg chorus formula.
I just wish YG did something different with babymonster. Like we didn't need a younger version of blackpink, blackpink already exists. Give us something different YG.
@@theread3480 I think they will initially evolve with future releases. Remember how when blackpink released boombayah and whistle and it had literally 2ne1 written on it but since ddu ddu ddu they found their sound but it was still YG. So I'm hoping Baemon also finds their unique sound but keeping YG trademark intact like YG can tap in rnb formula a bit more.
I think the intro was making it out to be something new and unique but then it all just went according to classic yg formula used in blackpink songs. I am not complaining because I like it but I can see why most people would be bored. (People getting pressed at valid criticism is so funny)
First of all, you are Beautiful. Second, I love your No Caption explanation, I definitely feel like there’s a lot to dissect and pay attention to first listen. It’s easy to get distracted.
i agree with you! i really enjoyed everything except for the chorus… wouldnt say its bad but it just kinda drags down the song for me. the outro was really good tho
The flow on the rap is good, but the lyrics are soo generic imo, half the time they're just making random noises. istg if i hear "pedal to the metal" one more time i'm gonna lose my mind
All I can say the rap line was 🔥 especially ASA OMG! the outro had a nice beat but didn’t care for the chant so all in all it was better then batter up but still just ok for me, typical YG formula color grade visual styling I mean 40 producers and they come up with this 🤷🏻♂️
You should definitely listen to Like that! I think its their best song ever. Better than Batter Up and Sheesh. The sound kinda what’s separates them from BP or 2ne1
I just believe you would prefer their b side track Like That rather than Sheesh. I heard Charlie Puth wrote and gave them as a present. I recommend you should try to listen at least once.
It’s a SHAME the beat from The intro is only there for the intro it’s like too goood should’ve been a whole other song with that beat all the way thru!
Personally i like the song BUT i cant with the producer/producers over using the same sample without changing it! I feel like BABYMONSTER doesnt have ''personality'' as a group if they dont have the sound just bcs YG is doing the same and the same with their girl groups. The song is catchy and the rap part is fire but again, in Batter Up they used Money's sample from LISA without changing it lmao and now we have How You Like That sample + Shut Down. Im kinda down with that tbh
for songs like this i used to be a hater of kpop in the past, hope they get decent songs next time, they don't deserve to have the boring blackpink sound.
Kinda heartbreaking that it's abundantly clear the girls are talentend but the end result is so soulless... Sorry to disagree with other commenters but even the rap parts made me feel nothing like yeah it's great on a technical level but for what? YG songwriting is so formulaic at this point it could as well be composed by an AI
Exactly, it says nothing new about this group other than "we are confident" like. Yeah okay id hope you are? What else? The lyrics are meh like what was that "hippity hoppity boom boom pow" as a 2ne1 fan at least i could see the distinction between 2ne1 and bp when bp first debuted, even though they had the same amount of members. This is quite literally bp as 7 and it even feels like the group doesnt know their own colour or what they stand for. Soulless is right. Theres no artistry :^(
I think it has the exact same problems for me as batter up, great verses meh chorus and unnecessary outro without a final chorus. At least there’s a bridge this time. Loved the bside tho
Oh please this is sooooooo much better than batter up😂 the intro, the rap,pre chorus, chorus, soooo catchy and yo what did you say??? The outro was unnecessary??? Bro the best part was outro. Soooo new and and that whisper aughhhhh. I was disappointed with teaser and the mv made me gagged it’s sooooo addictive ngl 1000000/10🫶
Can’t belive I’m saying this but YG kinda ate The chorus could have been better but it’s expected from yg but the rest of the song was so good! Love that they decided to break boundaries and do a switch up at the end
Awful song. So tired of 14 year olds telling me how cool they are in every friggin' song. New K-pop (4th and 5th gens) are just a major disappointment. Can we bring good K-pop back? 😔
