Not sure I should write this. But Whenever I play this, like a lot of Bach music, I can`t but help being moved, and tears always come into my eyes. It so profound. Its a strange thing to me that just a few notes and sounds arranged in a certain manner can have this effect. To me its like God is telling you the meaning of life.
Actually, music si God's voice.. i think Bach was an angel, an emissary of God. I played Brandemburgo #5. My favorite composer si Bach, since i was a child
I’m 85. I actually knew Bach first through the most powerful radio transmitter, KSL in Salt Lake City, when I was but 17 and heard the Mormon Tabernacle Organist playing the most dissonant and complex thing I had ever experienced at 11 pm, and I had just begun to dose off. Oh well. What the heck was that?! Turned out it was Bach! Which Prelude and Fugue? I still don’t know because my ears were still aligned to harmony and this was the first time I had heard complex counterpoint. Then it was on to Wendy Carlos in 1969 and soon after Glenn Gould. Now I am ruined for life. I just heard David Fray for the first time last year! OMG! What have I been missing? David is so young here in this fantastic work. He’s much older playing Bach’s orchestration of Vivaldi’s Concerto for four Pianos, but no matter! Wow, I can’t get enough. I do sit-ups, stomach crunching planks, and dancing with two 10 pound weights before I go off running all to the tune of David Fray and many others trying their hand at Bach and Vivaldi. They have helped make my old age a glorious and exciting one.
Merci Mr. David Fray.
David Fray - is one of the best pianists in the world, possessing the highest level of technical data, exquisite nuances and amazing sound, his understanding of Bach's piano concertos is perfect . . .❤🙏👌
Could not agree with you more. He continues to amaze as he matures but the essence of the talent is here from the start. His understanding of Bach is particularly special and unique. To hear him in person is simply mind-blowing.❤
Thank you Elton. My reaction, although pissed, was heartfelt. My first six years were under German occupation. I learned love (trust ?) later on. Like this music ? where are you from ?
David Fray is one of those very rare musicians who feel the depth of Bach's music and able to implement with today's instruments - magnificent! constant goosebumps and ecstasy - thank you!
My most favorite classical piece! I've heard other players perform this piece, but they don't hold a candle to David Fray. This performance just exudes joy and beauty!
I love his Bach. The clarity and pure joy. The way he, with such seeming ease, conducts and plays while expressing the music also with his face and body. Thank you for sharing this.
Had this on the speaker of my phone on a warm afternoon bike ride with miles after miles of quiet river trail. As I watched the scenery go by, and listening to this piece, suddenly every note made sense.
I come so often to David 'Fray's interpretation of this concerto. It touches my soul ❤️ My two Vizslas calm down beside me, because they love Bach music🌹
First part gives mi energy, and the second goes to my deepest emotions! I cannot stop listening J S Bach is my LIFE. Discovery of David Fray in Bach performing is my success !!!
I understand. Since discovering Bach in the school library in about 1971, I regularly come back to him for comfort & joy. And I hear his many melodies often in the works of others.
I listened to this performance of yet another sublime work of Bach and I have been uplifted because of his flame of joy and passion turning this, as well as each Bach performance, into a furvent prayer to The Creator. What flame of faith in Bach; what flame of beauty in Fray's delivery. Thank you; you shifte my dark day from the gutter to heaven.
nobody ever played Bach with such a depth of emotional intelligence, depth of feel, depth of field, depth of range, and so on. he's simply the BEST of today's performers - live long David Fray!
Unless you have surveyed all performance of Bach's many keyboard works since Bach died, I cannot see how you could make such a claim. It is your personal opinion and belief.
@@richardwebb2348 Gabor said: "today's performers"... and I understand "as far as he knows" of course. In the past, Edwin Fischer was equally perfect. As far as I know too... :-)
THIS is how it is supposed to be played. Baroque on his best. A perfect translation of how this brilliant piece should be played. Mr. Fray his understanding of the Bach piano concerto's are sublime !
Darkboy2525 Apart from the fact these concertos aren't Piano concertos, they're Harpsichord concertos. Bach played on an early German Fortepiano and hated it..so
So I don't want to sound harsh but I think it doesn't change anything about what Darkboy2525 says. You don't have to call it Baroque if you don't want to, but the fact is this interpretation of Bach's concerto tells something about the Baroque spirit, and I agree with that statement.
I like both Gould and Fray, each is very special...Fray is very passionate and so was Gould but they show it in different ways. They both know how to express the divine sensuality and feelings in the music they choose to play. Bravo a los dos!
How can anyone dislike this?? It is sublime and joyous, it is bright and crisp, I close my eyes and my soul sings and the world fades away. Faafetai tele lava David Fray.
This is a great joy to me . I always play it if I get depressed I love the music of Bach and David Frey playing brings it to life . I think that he loves this music too he looks totally transformed by its beauty. I have a stroke so Bach and David Frey keeps me sane !
Be sure to take the time to watch the longer version of the recording about the production of these. Bach keyboard concerti and see what it can take to produce what we might take for granted. The thought, emotional investment and the dedication are what sets true world class musicians apart and can bring us such joy.
Where do i find the longer version you say is so worthwhile ? Where they are practicing and he is teaching .. what is the exact title in RU-vid? Thanks in anticipation of your reply ...
Delightful performance all round. Fray exposes the brilliance of this masterpiece from the joy in the first movement, plaintiveness and sonority in the second and delight in the jazzy character of the third movement. His love for Bach is evident as it is contagious!
Compared to other interpretations I have heard, David Fray´s has a variety of touch and stress, a rhythmic holding and letting go, an exceptional tension and even pathos to it which makes me come back to it time and again, in detriment of any other. It also fills me with joy. Thank you David Fray. May God bless you always!
Je suis étonné de voir si peu de commentaires en français....Et pourtant, un grandissime pianiste made in France !!!! Sublime ! J'adore Bach à travers vous. MERCI
The first movement is pure joy in musical form. Like falling in love or like finding out you have been healed from an incurable illness. It just sparkles and sings with this innocent boundless energy. Of itself this concerto is already a miracle, and to think we have so many musical miracles from the mind and soul of the immortal JS Bach.
