While listening to demo recordings of the Pipeloops sample set of the Vleugels organ of Chemnitz, I stumbled upon a beautiful recording of the Fantasie & Fuge D-Dur by Max Reger, based on J.S. Bach's Toccata D-Dur, BWV 912. It's very interesting to follow how Reger makes this Bach toccata his own and how he gives it his own twists (and there are many).
I'm glad Anton Doornhein gave me permission to share this recording, so more people can listen to it.
More information about this sample set can be found here:

I guess I had the same reaction with fellow organists. As soon as I saw your name and Reger, I had to quit what I was doing and come in. It's a great recording. I would love to look at the spec. Thanks for sharing, Ralph!

@@Orgelfan62 After a lot of practice probably, but I don't need too, since Anton Doornhein was so kind to allow me to share this great recording. After all it's not about the organist, but the music.

Beautiful performance of this work! Good and interesting arrangement by Herr Reger (at first I thought that he'll use the beginning from BWV 532) 🎶

I just listened and wanted to reply with: stop everything you do and become a fulltime organist. But it wasn’t you playing. However I’m sure, if you had the time, you could learn it. Fantastic played indeed. Wonderful.

Ralph, I read Reger in the title of your video and fell off the chair. Then I read the video description and the world was a fine place again! 😂

Haha, well, I'm just the barocker ;). Luckily there are many more and far better organists than me who deserves a bit more of the RU-vid podium (I think).

@@RalphLooij I don’t remember if I told you already but some of the best romantic and contemporary music performances I ever experienced were by “barocker” organists… I am sure you could deliver a fantastic Reger!

I enjoyed it Ralph. I have two other versions of this. And of course more than that on Harpsichord, and clavichord. I'm happy that you were not to enslaved by the dynamics markings. That would be quite a feat just moving the swell shades to often. And that really does mess up the tonality. I prefered it the way you performed it. Mark

Thanks for your appreciation, I did not play this, but Anton Doornhein recently recorded this as mentioned in the video and description. But he did a fine job indeed!
