@@Iceologer they had to have been pretty damn skilled or the composer wouldn't have written all this amazing music for them. Imagine writing these amazing concerto-parts and obbligato parts just to have a bunch of nitwits squeak and squawk their way through them.
Are there live presentations of the Netherlands Bach Society frequently? Maybe one day I can attend one 😁 greetings from Brasil and God bless you all! ❤🇧🇷
This group is so ‘off the Richter scale’. So sublime. It just doesn’t get better than this, with the exception of being there in the audience, or with Bach himself. I especially love the tenor and the organist in this group.
It's interesting to see a tenor from the choir doubling the soloist voice. Thanks for the most professional recording, besides the beautiful performances.
266 / 5000 Perhaps the most musically beautiful stanza of this great hymn that arises in the midst of a pandemic, the Black Death, composed by Phillip Nicolai, a wonderful story that shows the strength that comes from the eternal hope of those redeemed by Christ! Thanks! Gracias!
@@alpinoalpini3849 Thanks for your comment! Mine was a comment to the fragment of the cantata "Zion hört die Wächter" composed by Bach, who composed music to give Glory to God, as he wrote at the end of each of his scores: "Soli Deo Gloria". Like Bach, my conviction is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, far from being an “wishful and elitist thinking”, is the reality of the merciful call of the Sovereign God that extends to all humanity and that also invites you to the certainty of a hope that transcends our poor and short existence: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) The lyrics of this cantata BWV 140 speak of this; If you listen to Bach, it is advisable to read the translation of the lyrics of his cantatas (www.bach-cantatas.com/), where his compositions masterfully express the statements of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to that he dedicated his life and work.
@@alpinoalpini3849 Enjoying the fruits of a devoted Christian while also totally insulting him (e.g. stating he believes in an amusement park in the sky etc). Gross.
Très belle prestation. Peut-être, le mixage final aurait gagné à mettre un peu plus en avant l'orgue et le basson... Mais l'ensemble est d'une remarquable qualité. Merci ! Very nice performance. Perhaps, the final mixing would have been better to put a little more forward the organ and the bassoon... But the whole is of a remarkable quality. Thank you!
I'm used to hearing this Chorale with solo tenor, not like here where it's doubled by the background singers. Doesn't always match up IMO but still a good performance 🎵
Way too slow for me, I’m sorry. Sometimes I feel Jos van Veldhoven tends to get lost in details, and BWV 140 is an example. Listen to John Eliot Gardiner‘s early recording or others, where you can perfectly follow the cantus firmus.
